Located at Andaz. World class Ceviche. So many styles to choose from that we had to eat there several evenings. Attended a Ceviche class and learned the secret!

This will make my 38th Hyatt hotel and I’ve eaten at every property multiple times. This by far is the best experience in a long line of great experiences. What a great restaurant the service, good and experience is just top notch. The view of...the bay is gorgeous and it’s a very well laid out and maintained restaurant. The service was excellent very high end but not pretentious and arrogant. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly but was also fun and not stiff like you find in fine dining. We interacted with several workers in our 3 nights we ate there all staff was excellent. Now to the fun stuff the good. I kept annoying my wife because I just kept saying it’s so good over and over. Ceviche is hands down the best I’ve had we chose the chefs selection. The pumpkin soup was amazing and the best soup I’ve ever had. It would have made an amazing pasta sauce the flavor was just so perfect. My wife had the Homage to Guanacaste and I had lobster pasta and the first night the lamb and coconut tuna. I can not say which was my favorite because all dishes were perfect. This chef is incredible. I’ll never try and duplicate lamb again because the lamb we had here was just superior. What a memorable and great experience thank you. I hope to come back some day .More

We visited Ostra twice recently, the first visit was a hands down 5, the next visit was sub 1. It all came down to the service, our first waiter really cared and was seamless, our next waiter flat out disappeared. The food and drinks were...quite good on both visits and the setting was quite pleasant.More

I dined here 5 times and every single time the food and service have been excellent; Alan, the manager, is fabulous and one of the most professional, willing to please people I have met in a long time. They have a good choice of wines...and drinks and the food is refined but flavoursome. The setting is pleasant, calm and welcoming.More

Lobster was tough and over cooked, the scallops were also tough and over cooked. Sea bass and Coconut tuna were to die for. Appetizer was very very small portion. Service was great.

We visited Ostra on our final night at the Andaz and we wish that we had gone more than one night. The food was probably our top meal from the entire trip, our wait staff were incredible but unfortunately, we had to wait around an...hour for our mains to come after our appetizers. The waiting game seems to be a very constant thread in CR. To begin, we ordered two ceviche samplers which come with 5 types of ceviche to try and plantain chips to use as a “spoon”. We opted for the mixed seafood version and it was great, of course we preferred some of the preparations more than others. I also ordered the Caribbean soup which was incredible, excellent local seafood in an amazing soup base. My brother ordered the shrimp appetizer, also highly recommended by our waiter, and really enjoyed it. One party member ordered the San Carleno Angus beef which was a nice dish but a lot for an appetizer. For our mains, we had a variety of dishes. I had the Papagayo Bay seafood tasting which was amazing. Fresh octopus, red snapper, and shrimp atop incredible pearl barley. Two of our party members ordered the tuna, perfectly seared and melt in your mouth texture with outstanding flavour. Another one of us ordered the pollo en salsa, which was very good but not outstanding. My brother also ordered the cazuela del Puerto which was again a dish with local, fresh seafood - always a hit! On a separate day, my brother and I visited a ‘fish market’ lunch which was a good experience. There were four or so live stations with ceviche, grilled fish or lobster, salad bar, and raw station. We both opted for ceviche and also a piece of fish from the live station. Good experience but it was maybe their first time offering this type of experience so the staff were slightly apprehensive about procedure which also was likely compounded by the language barrier. As mentioned above, we wish we visited Ostra earlier for dinner and more than once! Would absolutely return should we ever be back on the Papagayo Peninsula.More

This was the last dinner we had while in Costa Rica and it was easily the best. Everything is amazing. The food, service and location. This was perfect. The ceviche was amazing (we even ordered another serving as our dessert). The prices are very reasonable...as well Highly recommend!More
