One of the most recommended places to eat in Dumaguete City, is indeed worth a visit. We liked the Dumaguete express, the grilled seafood and the pinakbet.
We were there early so no crowds yet. Food wasdelicious and service was good.

We ate here as our first choice was full. The food was all right, although I don't think I'll order the lumpiang isda again as the portion is a bit small, but it was good enough. What I enjoyed more was the live piano music that played nonstop before we entered all the way until we left. The gracious pianist even accommodated a young child by playing some kid's songs for her to sing along to.
Overall, not exceptional but not bad.

The resturant looks inviting and is inside and outside seating. It's name suggest sea food is a speciality, unfortunately for us we did not have a seafood experience. We had the noodles with mixed seafood. We were not expecting chicken bones and from the sizes were neck bones. I did manage to find two very small shrimps amongst the noodles. Erika was unable to find any!!!!. Lilly my sister-in-law had the mixed sea food cooked in coconut milk. Lilly found only badley cooked squid and large amout of fatty pork. Large chunks of coconut. We complained and eventually we were informed we would not have to pay. I can not recommend this restaurant.

This is a smaller restaurant underneath two larger very popular places on the boulevard in Dumaguete. I'm not sure what the relationship is with the other places, but trust me, for great food and service, this is the spot. Especially local seafood dishes.

I saw it has average rating here, but I put it five star, simply because we enjoyed their food. For me and my family they served not only delicious food but hot as well to the table. Delicious sinuglaw , sinugbang tanigue is tender and still juicy, yet it has a little crisp outside, oh I love the calamares, I mean the breadings, its aromatic for me, but I prefer to dip it in soy sauce and chili mansi, the pancit Canton/guisado and bihon is delicioso too, my papa loves your tinola, and sinugba and sinuglaw , also their sisig is delicious because it has a lot of liver parts, which I like, Dili sya sum-od unlike other commercial sisig na sum-od. Oryt. Overall their food were delicious bisan medyo dugay pag serve Kay dugay man xD me nka order..haha.oryt but thank you Lab-as we'll surely return. God willing

We were surprised with the big serving of the Bouillabaisse Soup (local version) and the Lechon Kawali Pinakbet. These were both delicious and the Bouillabaisse is something to try.

I had fried chicken, but it was not seasoned and very greasy. I am not used to the oil they use here in the Philippines. I have eaten there before and had the fish tacos and they were ok.

Except for the tortang talong which was really goooood (especially that I actually don't eat it normally), everything else was just okay.
We ate inside but even from inside, the view of the sea was still a treat.
And oh.. They serve cocktail pitchers for just PHP 180! We had the zombie one! It was refreshingly light -- still somehow appropriate for brunch :))

In fairness to Lab-as, all their food offerings especially the seafood are delicious and reasonably priced. Given the reputation, during the peak hours, the place gets crowded and noisy. But it can accomodate large group of 20's or more. Reservation is a must especially if your more than 6pax. Walk in diners can line up for 2-3 mins. Waiting time.
For the food serving, you need to have a lot of patience to wait for at least 30mins for all the orders to come in, and sometimes even more.

We had dinner at Lab-as a few days back after a long & tiring city day tour as we were craving for seafood. We chose this place as this is always on the list of recommended restaurants in Dumaguete.
Pros (+): The ambience was okay, ideal for those who are hanging out to drink. Drivers are very familiar with the place.
Cons (-): Nothing special about the food. The food were pretty average (at least those that we tried) A bit pricey for the quality. It took some time for our orders to be served. Had to make several follow throughs for the bill.

Drinks order messed up, food order messed up, got dishes we didnt order and when our order finally arrived proper it was lukewarm at best, s&s pork had bits of bone in and was all stuck togeather rather than individual pieces, chicken chop suey had gnarley bits of brown chicken in, rather unapatising.

When our office was requested to host dinner for visitors from Manila, Iloilo and Tacloban, my officemate made reservations at Lab-as Seafood Restaurant over the phone. We, ourselves, would be coming from Cebu and would meet our guests at the restaurant. And even though we arrived late, the staff honored our reservation and did not cancel it. Though tired from a long trip, we soon relaxed and enjoyed our dinner.

This day is the midterm election of our country the Philippines. After voting we decided to try this seafood restaurant. The food is very affordable and tasty and the service is very good. We had Camiguin Express vegetable soup with coconut milk, steamed fish, fish lumpia, and crab omelette. Wonderful time indeed of dining and conversation in a very cozy place with a very good view of Piapi Beach. A place worth visiting and enjoying time and time again.
