My wife booked this place through Agoda, and we were definitely pleased when we saw the place. It is located near the city plaza making it very accessible.
Pro's:
1. Room is fairly affordable (Junior Suite). The room we stayed in was quite spacious for the two of us. The room has its own separate "sala" and kitchen. The mini-bar is also stuffed with charge-to-bill drinks. The comfort room/bathroom is with a hot shower. The bedroom itself is cozy with air-conditioning.
2. Staff are very friendly and accomodating, including our driver that we hired for the city tour.
3. The hotel is also home to Saramsam restaurant which also serves great food!
Cons: (I may be nitpicking here but nonetheless this might help in the improvement of the place)
1. The air-con in our room was quite old (I think), it woke us up a couple of times during the night since it was making a loud noise.
2. The hot-shower was very hot even though it was set to cold settings. (Another old equipment I think?)
Overall our stay in the place was very satisfying. We would definitely book this place again if we return to Laoag.

I've been to Balay da Blas for several times already. The last visit was by far the most enjoyable. We occupied the room at the top (3rd) floor. It is a very spacious room, a family of six would be most comfortable living there. The room has been refurbished, a lot better looking and feeling than 2-3 years ago. We took a lot of photos as words may not do justice to the best room in the Balay. Another good thing about it was that price is adjusted according to number of persons occupying the room. Since we were only two, we paid less for the room.

we stay here a decade ago and mr.blas was very accommodating. now much has been changed and it became a place where Mr.Blas has told he wished for. Rooms are excellent. Staff service and Security are second to none. The only thing we had difficulty was the parking space. We were forced to park our vehicle in the street front as the parking space can hold up to 6-10 vehicles. but we were assured that the security staff will look out and monitor our car.

Booked a family room last minute and was surprised at how huge the rooms were. Breakfast orders are taken the day before; if you're not in the area by 8:30 AM, they will personally go to your room to remind you about their breakfast time.
Only con is this hotel isn't suitable for people who have a hard time using the stairs. Make sure you get a room on the ground floor since the stairs are somehow steep.

Went to Laoag for a company outing - it's been years since I was in the Ilocos region. Stayed at Plaza del Norte Hotel but had lunch at Balay da Blas. We had bagnet and three more dishes. All were delicious. The finale was dessert: banana-sweet potato with hot molasses. I forgot what it was called but it was certainly my first time to try it.
The restaurant seems a bit pricey for a city like Laoag but certainly worth it. Service was fast and impeccable. Ambience was relaxing. It serves local and international dishes. There are small rooms for diners so there is a bit of privacy. Service was fast and impeccable. I would definitely be back at Balay da Blas.

Location was ok, it is located beside Saramsam restaurant which is itself located in the corner. Value for money was average, very poor parking area though, be prepared to park outside.

Breakfast is complementary if you stay, one free breakfast per night of lodging. Then late night, I tried the dragon fruit ice cream and ube ice cream as well. The first one was great, the latter not something to write home about. Saramsam's Poque-poque is not for the virginal palate but a real Ilocano treat indeed.

Got to taste a lot of Ilocano Dishes during dinner hosted by our great Ilocana friend. We loved the Poqui-Poqui, Lumpiang Shanghai, Inabraw, Higado, Dinengdeng, Dinakdakan, Bagnet and Leche flan. Everything tasted just great! Ambiance was very charming and homey.

I saturated (almost) the whole region of Ilocos, and one of my destination was in Laoag City. From Vigan, i traveled to Laoag for almost three hours. When I get there, I dont want to spend so much time to look for a hotel. A good and friendly people of Laoag told me to stay in Balay da Blas. In a first glance, it looks old or vintage type of hotel, which I really dont like. But when I get to see the interior design, it was surprisingly beautiful. All staff were very friendly plus, their rooms rate is very affordable. Would love to visit this hotel again soon. They served sumptuous food!!

The menu offered a nice variety of choices. I was feeling a bit down from traveling so I opted for a safe meal choice of baked fish. The food was good and reasonably priced. We will return when we can better enjoy our visit.

Stayed there during our laoag trip. We originally booked the barkada room but decided when we arrived we'll just get their room that's good for 4-5 persons. The staff gladly accommodated our request at once. Nothing special in their rooms except the koi fishes in their lobby which my 4y/0 really enjoyed. The staff even let my daughter fed the koi fishes. The saramsan restaurant is one thing I like in the pensionne, their foods are delicious.
