Malesadas were delicious as recommended. The food truck in East side was less crowded. Recommend that you go in the afternoon.

Really popular local food institution with lots of great ratings however for my taste the malasadas are overrated! Again my opinion. If you ever go to Big Island have had much better products at Punaluu bakery and from Mountain View bakery. The doughnuts texture was...excellent but the fillings, all of the six different flavors, were at best mediocre. flavors tasted almost identical and were a runny liquid. Had to try though due to high recommendations. Wanted to love this place but for a sweet aficionado like myself I would skip it on my next trip to Oahu.More

Leonard's bakery has a great reputation among locals. We were recommended to visit it by one of the resident's in Waikiki and have enjoyed their Brazilian desert.

As advertised! The Malasadas were fantastic! Hot and fresh! So glad I took the drive to go there. Employees were very polite and helped explain all their baked goods. I will look forward to a return.

Good hawaiin style Portuguese donuts. Light and filled to the max. We found guava to be the most flavourful. Can be busy at times.

I’m not usually a doughnut person, but these are not the usual doughnuts. They are made from a brioche dough and are very light and airy with a great chew. The fillings are lightly flavored custards or the original sugar coated or cinnamon and sugar....One of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had. Staff was friendly and ordering process organized. They make the doughnuts to order so they are warm and fresh when you get them. I’d highly recommend!More

This place is know for its malasadas. This visit we found they no long sell other baked goods besides cookies. They make the malasada fresh to order. It is so hot and delicious. We bring our friends here to experience the malasadas. The filled one...be careful when you bite into them, the filling can all come out. One bite can tell you that you’ll enjoy it.More

Even before we went to Hawaii , everyone talked about the sweet malasadas available at Leonard’s Bakery only in Hawaii. Our tour guide took us to what appeared to be a food truck in a busy shopping center. The line was fairly long but our...guide stood in the line for us and got us a big box of the delicious sweet treats. They were fresh from the oil, dusted with sugar and filled with some kind of creamy custard. They were like a filled doughnut without the hole and they were scrumptious. Our guide said they were too hot to eat so we went to the beach and ate them while we walked the beach. Great fun.More

This place lived up to all of the hype- if you can't find a spot, people leave pretty quickly. You may get lots of rooster visitors- but that is everywhere! The coffee is also really good!

As a New England Portuguese myself, Leonards malasadas sent me right back to the filhões I grew up making with my vavo. Sure they are a bit puffier, but it is the same fluffy dough, with the added Hawaiian twist of filling them with custard....The Li Hing Mui is to die for.More

Delicious masaladas! Pillowy soft and warm and melt in your mouth. Parking was a bit crazy but it looks like they are adding new parking in back soon. But a fun taste of Hawai’i!

A couple we traveled with took us to Leonard’s and the malasadas are tasty and cheaper than expected (1.25 original and 2.25 filled). There’s usually a long line and they are very short staffed so bring your patience while you wait!

This place is amazing! We had heard great things about Leonard's malasadas (we had never had these before) so we knew we had to stop early one morning on our trip. We got lucky and it wasn't too busy so we were able to get...a parking spot. We tried a few different flavors of malasadas and they were all spectacular! The guava was probably our favorite, haupia was also really good (they were all delicious!). Prices are good and the malasadas are only a few cents more expensive than doughnuts at a place like Dunkin' Donuts, so it's kind of steal to get these homemade tasty treats. We'll definitely be back!More

All of the fillings should be safe. From what I observed, they don't use soy

To the best of my knowledge, Leonard's malasadas are made using butter and liquid dairy products (half and half and/or milk).

Yes. My son has nut allergies and he was good. No issues. I would ask just to be sure.
