Market with reasonable cheese selection, but more importantly, very good cheese expertise. Unlike the vastly overpriced Harmon's, who unashamedly sell expired cheeses at sometimes over $30 per pound, and Smith's, who also sell expired cheese, and have no training inches technology, the Caputo's staff are true cheese affineurs. They are also knowledgeable on their meats, and have a large selection of reasonably priced Italian semolinas. They have the largest chocolate selection in town by far, although that's not an area with which I am particularly familiar. A good selection of oils and vinegars are on hand as well. Their food service area uses high quality meats, although I wish they would use better quality bread than the usual "my pillow" consistency.

Great place to cool off and grab some Italian sandwiches and other deli items! Huge, clean store and deli seating. Social distancing and masks required and enforced. There’s some parking but the lot is small...we were using public transportation and it was very easy to get to.
This is a combination Italian deli and a store with deli meat and cheese market. There are lots of great dry pastas, olive oils, vinegars, sauces, honeys, jams, meats and cheeses available, among other things.
Then there’s the deli side...we ordered The Caputo which had a variety of Italian meats and provolone and a balsamic sauce. We also ordered a meatball sandwich that comes with Parmesan and provolone. All were excellent! The bread on the Caputo was just a tad chewy so I have to say I preferred the meatball sandwich but both were still great. They also have a variety of chips and sodas. We also sampled the antipasto salad which was good if you like that kind of salad.
There’s a bathroom just outside that requires a “token” to enter, which you can get from the cashier.

I had been to this wonderful deli and market (and rated it previously) when visiting my son in SLC. When Valentines day rolled around in 2020 I wanted to do something special so I ordered Blue's Chocolates which I had seen and been intrigued by when I visited the store. I spoke with a customer service person about how to get just what I wanted for them and was told to note what I wanted in the message area when I ordered. I was also told that they would make appropriate substitutions if some of the items were unavailable. I did this and requested that they let me know what they had sent and when they thought it would be delivered.
I found their customer service to be exemplary. They didn't have some of the flavors I requested but did let me know exactly what my son would be getting and when it would be delivered. Much to my satisfaction, this was delivered on Valentines day and they enjoyed ALL of the 30 chocolates they got.
I have never tasted these but they are beautiful and my son and his girlfriend savored them for the next week.
I highly recommend doing business with this business!

We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM. The restaurant was very busy. The ambience was great, loved all the international foods, amazing cheese and meat counters, endless selection of worldwide chocolates. But we waited more than 30 minutes for our simple orders, 2 in our party didn’t get entrees until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. Food was ok, nothing special, not a great value. If I visit again, it will be for carry out at the meat/cheese counters.

As an italian, I love finding true italian food in the US and Caputo lives up to the name. However, their products are so over priced!! Plus, my italian family ordered a deluxe gift box, and it had all but nice things, literally they stuffed it with the cheapest things they had including pickles, A MEXICAN SALSA, and crisps.... no pasta, no sauces, nothing actually worth the money it cost.

I ordered a bottle of pimento bitters from them and it broke in transit. They quickly responded via email and rectified by offering to send a new bottle to me in more protective packaging. Even though it's most likely shipping companies error. Special shout-out to Janey who handled with grace. Good job!

This place is one of my top spot when it comes to Italian food, specially really love the huge portions of sandwiches , my wife love it so much. Also you guys provide extra ordinary customer service. Sure I’ll recommend this place to my friends . Cheers.

Great food and atmosphere. Only four stars because it's not an absolute must-stop if you've traveled a little. If you're a local and haven't been there, it's a five-star must for you. Take a twenty to blow on something new at the shops. The food at the deli is very good, but it's fun to buy something exotic at the shop. It's worth poking around all the other little shops around the actual restaurant. A Belgian waffle and Bruge's close by is essential after you're through eating at the Caputo's.

We stumbled upon the deli market while walking and exploring the city. The staff was very polite and delivered excellent service. The variety of cheeses provided a wide variety and for some of what we were able to taste was very good. The wine selections were small, but enough to have an option for any preference.

We had heard this place was good and ordered takeout. I got turkey, my husband got pastrami, and meatball sandwich for our son. Picked up the food, got home, and the order was completely wrong. 3 sandwiches that we didn't order in a bag with my name on it. Doesn't matter how good your food is if you can't put the right sandwiches in a bag then you don't deserve my business. I wish I could take the 20% tip I gave back. We will not be returning.

While staying over a few days in Salt Lake City before we left for the National Parks, we stumbled upon Caputo's for lunch. It was not very far at all from our hotel (Hyatt House) and fit the bill. We decided to start our National Park journey the next day by coming back to stock up on a picnic for our trip. We were delighted to find out the park right in front of Caputo's had THE BEST Farmer's Market. We love this area of Salt Lake City!

When it comes to sliced meets and fresh cheeses, the selections here are downright amazing. I can’t imagine a better selection and fair pricing (for fresh imported items).
But the sandwich deli is a complete joke. The “Caputo” sandwich is an embarrassment to their name. It has a tiny single slice of prosciutto and thick multiple slices of mortadella and salami. You can’t even taste it. Plus they put oregano on it without listing it as an ingredient. Many people don’t like this “pizza” spice on a sandwich and I would have ordered it without it. Other items were not ideal. Kids butter pasta was smothered in Parmesan cheese. Caprese salad tomatoes were cold with bad flavor and almost no basil.
I’ll return for fresh meats but not to eat.

The cafe is inside the deli which is heavenly for me being able to shop and eat in the same place.
The food did not disappoint- we had the pasta and meatballs which comes with a salad and roll and lasagne and salad. The quality and tastiness of the meatballs was superb. The salad was so fresh. It was a delightful meal. We also tried the tiramisu which was homemade and delicious and the blonde which was good. We will be back and would highly recommend.

Stopped by Caputo's during my trip to SLC and was impressed with their great selection of food items. They have the most amazing selection of chocolate from various companies around the world. Worth visiting just to check out their chocolate selection.

Not a full service restaurant. It's really an Italian food market with a meat and cheese department, shelves of sauces and condiments, a wine section, and a variety of other items like beverages and chocolates. The deli area has a limited menu of entrees. Probably a better selection of salads and appetizers. Here, you order at the register and wait, sometimes for quite a while, for your name to be called. Seating is in like a warehouse decor. Wooden utensils and aside from ketchup and mustard packets, not much to help you with your seasoning.
