Having been many times to New Orleans, LA, then moved to UT, we were eager to try this place. Neither of us are drinkers of alcoholic beverages, and this place is mostly a bar. It's fully stocked with the drinker that wants these things. However, our reason for going there was to try their creole or Cajun dishes. While The Bayou doesn't advertise itself as a restaurant, one can have a lunch or dinner there. I had Gumbo with extra crawfish, and my husband had their shrimp po boy sandwich. We also shared a side salad. The portion sizes were generous, but both of us were hungry enough to finish them. We went there for dinner. It was fortunate that we like to eat around 3-4 PM, so that we arrived in time to get a parking place. Parking at this place is very limited with only one handicapped place. I'm told that it gets crowded around the usual dinner hour and again at 9 PM , when live music is available. My husband and I had checked out the menu on-line before visiting The Bayou, and he tried the Gingerbread cookies with vanilla ice cream. The cookies were huge, and he liked this dessert. The menu has appetizers, salads, soups (Gumbo and the soup du jour), sandwiches, pizza, entrees, and desserts. Chicken Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Shrimp Etoufee are on it. There are also dishes like Blackened Catfish. Having tasted the real Gumbo in New Orleans, this Gumbo was spicy but lacked the flavor to which I had become accustomed. The service was a bit slow, but that is not a serious problem for people wanting to sit at the bar and drink. The bathrooms are clean, and the neighborhood isn't great. The prices are reasonable, except that drinks are high. The menu for beers is quite full with American and some European types. I enjoyed the atmosphere, as it was decorated with the beads that are thrown from floats during Mardi Gras.

We live in SLC and this has always been a favorite restaurant. We love it even more now, as they require proof of vaccination to enter. We’ve eaten here twice in the past couple of months, so can attest to them checking ID/vaccination status at the door. We feel very comfortable dining indoors here. The service is friendly, cheerful, and helpful. How many places have their own app for beer selections? It’s amazing and the waitstaff can help you with the giant beer selection!. This is also a good menu for vegetarians.

When I first entered the establishment, it seemed like your everyday bar and restaurant... but looks can be deceiving. What followed was a rush of sincerity and service unmatched in the world of drinks and food. The singular man, nay god, who made my experience such a whirlwind of enjoyment went by the name of Adam. In an almost biblical sense, this singular employee delivered my water and napkins with the speed of apollo, the strength of hercules, and the fury of zeus. I am always cautious to reference the greek gods but this lone wolf warrants the praise that only such deities can elicit. Adam is truly a knight in shining armour.

Due to the Covid… Only phone orders and curbside pick up were available. Overall if I had to do it again I would pass. I ordered the blackened catfish sandwich and found the catfish barely cooked. There was virtually no blackened seasoning whatsoever. We also ordered the jambalaya and although it was not bad the salad that accompanied it was basically thrown into a takeout box with no dressing that was ordered with it ...overall a very much less than average meal

We were getting in late to Salt Lake City and were trying to figure out where to eat. XXX was open until midnight, and even though it is a bar with numerous beers, wines and liquors, we decided to give it a try; very glad we did! They have a very good menu, so by right, it should be called a Gastro Pub. For starters we got Ahi Tuna Eggroll, it was great. The eggrolls were large and the tuna inside was perfectly rare, the sauce was excellent. We also wanted to try Fried Chickpeas, those were just ok, it seems that the flavor was fried out of them, probably a good snack for a beer, but not on its own. We also wanted to try the soup of the day, which was cream of Roasted Peppers. The soup was wonderful, my husband does not like peppers, but he definitely enjoyed that soup. It was a great flavor, not too strong, counteracted by the creaminess of the soup, excellent. For the main course, we split Ahi Tuna Tacos, that were also very good. That dish came with a house salad, which was fresh and tasty. The tacos were accompanied by pico de gallo, guac, sour cream and cabbage salad. Everything tasted delicious. A great place for dinner, but you have to be 21 to enter.

Ordered through a delivery service. The food was perfect. Hot and packaged to keep hot and prevent spills. The taste and portions were perfect. Good Cajun food does not have to be spicy hot and this is GOOD Cajun food. You knew it had spices but they were not overpowering. Don’t be afraid to give this restaurant a try. You will enjoy it.

I ate here twice with my dad last month and the food was really great! It was so good we ate here a second time. One night I had Cajun Seafood balls for an appetizer which were excellent and had crawfish étouffée one night and really enjoyed that. I also had jambalaya with crawfish one of the nights that I was there. I will point out that they do require you to share proof that you got your COVID-19 vaccination in order for you to be seated in the restaurant.

We have eaten at the Bayou many times over the past 10 years. The cajun food is excellent. The beer selection is awe-inspiring, particularly considering it's within the State of Utah. Yesterday we truly appreciated the fact that they require proof of vaccination to eat. Wow, a small circle of civilized behavior in a really idiotic State. Really appreciated! Food was excellent, service was all masked (unusual for Utah), Beer from a new SLC brewery expanded my horizons. Just wanted to say thank you as I know they received a lot of flack from the local neanderthals. Much appreciated!

We are first time visitors from Canada to Salt Lake City. We had no idea what to expect and were very happy that we chose to eat at The Bayou. They had an excellent drinks menu, the food was great and service very friendly. We were happy to see that they require people to be double vaccinated to eat at the restaurant. We really liked the jambalaya, Cajun pasta, chicken gumbo and Caesar salad and had leftovers for tomorrow. Strongly recommend The Bayou for anyone looking for good food in Salt Lake City.

Very good Cajun food along with some surprisingly good ahi tuna egg roll. Meaty gumbo, yummy étouffée, and a large selection of beers. Helpful pleasant service. Why didn’t we know about this place sooner?

I went with 2 employees and we had a very good dinner with a cross section of cuisines (seafood, chicken, and pizza. The pizza was great but I would get seafood next time. Service was great and we had an overall great dinner. I would definitely return.

I got the Gumbo and Jambalaya combined dish. Not sure if that is a real thing but it was the best of both worlds. Absolutely delicious. Rich flavor and good amount of meat. Large cocktail and beer selection. The salad was a bit boring as it was just lettuce and dressing. Kahlua cheesecake was solid but did not get much Kahlua flavor. Definitely would go back for the Gumbalaya dish. Friendly staff and food came out pretty quick.

As a vegan I'm not crazy over cajun food. The entree options were acceptable, but it's the beer selection that is out of this world. The beer and the fact that it's the only local restaurant that I know of that asks for proof of vaccination before they allow you in is what will keep me coming back. It's a great destination for friends to socialize and I'm looking forward to the return of live music.

Don’t order the chicken fried chicken, it was the worst I have ever had. I should have returned it. I have eaten at Bayou many times and have always enjoyed the food. The service was not as good as usual last night. They should take this item off the menu.

Found this place on my gluten free app. Just around the corner from my hotel so off I went. Kinda concerned at first as the service in the bar area was slow. Placed my order of jambalaya which came with a side salad. Salad came out quickly but saddest looking salad I’ve ever seen. It was only spring mix and a side of ranch. Took a while for the jambalaya to arrive but when it did I forgot about the slow service and salad. Really good and I’d definitely go back. Large gf selection,
