This restaurant is in a canyon surrounded by trees. I did notice that MAPS said the building is on the right when coming through the mountain when really it’s on the left. There is parking on the road but not much. Vallet parking is available which they park your vehicle across the street next to their year round waterfall. Which is gorgeous! When walking into the building they do have a coat rack for you to use. The live music was amazing. We had Jake for our server and he was so knowledgeable and helpful by explaining each dish. I had the duck - it was very juicy. Had a couple different sauces to vet it and it came with a small salad. My girlfriend got the Elk wrapped in bacon. Man!! This place was good! The view of the canyon was so perfect to eat next to. This place is very romantic and I do like how it is a fancier place but you can wear business casual clothes. You should expect to pay $100 for two people. The most expensive entree was the elk which was $50. Totally worth it! And other dishes were roughly $30. They had a ton of alcohol beverages to choose from which prices vary. Highly recommended place!

Wanted to find a local non chain restaurant as my partner and my go to place. We could not have chosen a better place. Everything about the restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere and scenery is sublime, the service was beyond excellent, super attentive without being heavy handed. We started with the crab cakes, which were tender and delicious with a sauce that was divine. The portions are small, but the quality is very good.
My partner chose the filet which was so incredibly tender and flavorful I thought we were at a 5 star steakhouse, the mashed potatoes were just ok, but the filet was so good I forgot about them, I would say mashed potatoes at a place like Log Haven should be outlawed, so many better potato options. The scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked, the sides were very tasty as well.
They have a pastry chef on staff who handmakes all of their desserts, they were delicious. The pineapple upside down cake and berry crips were delicious and reasonably priced.
This is not a place you would go everyday, but for a special occasion it's well worth the money. It's not cheap, our bill with one drink was $150 including tip

Due to the remote location of the restaurant, we were expecting to have a culinary experience that would be remembered for a lifetime. The service was very personable, the facility is wonderfully rustic and the meal was very tasty. The pork chop was beautifully prepared, but was overwhelmed by the huge serving of something resembling BBQ sauce. (That is just my issue.) The desert was delightful.
While I am glad we tried this restaurant on our way out of town after a fun ski trip at Deer Valley, I guess that I was a tad surprised this was the best restaurant in town.

Great experience! We loved the atmosphere, the service, and the live music on the weekends! The waiter recommended the bison and it was amazing! I’m a filet mignon guy, so I wasn’t hesitant to try the bison, but it did not disappoint. Tons of flavor! My wife did get the filet, and I must say hers was good, but not as good as mine.
Now, for some constructive criticism. This is the United State of America. We have free refills on soft drinks! I understand if you’re serving drinks from tiny glass bottles, but when you have Coke products on tap...and you don’t offer free refills?! Come on! So our whole table opted for a water instead of paying for every single glass of Coke we drank. I know, I know, first world problems...but It bugged me enough that I probably won’t come back for a while. Yes, I will be back eventually because the food was awesome, but if you can’t get the soft drinks right, it’s so important to my meal, that I’ll look elsewhere before we make reservations to come back.

We had a wonderful dinner experience here recently. The location of the restaurant, in Mill Creek Canyon, is very scenic with a waterfall across the road.
We valet parked our car because the alternative was street parking in the narrow canyon road (not desirable).
It is advisable to make a reservation for this restaurant.
The service and the food was wonderful. The staff is professional & friendly.
It is a high end restaurant and highly recommended for the overall experience.

A year ago we went to Log Haven for our 25th Anniversary and we were thrilled as we had just moved to Utah. This year we planned the same dinner out as we had enjoyed our first experience so much. We were so excited for today to arrive after booking and reserving our table on the patio almost a month ago. We have not been going out anywhere with Covid so this was going to be only our second time out since March. My husband is older and diabetic so the need for outside dining is imperative. This morning I received a voicemail that was left at 8:30 pm last night saying due to a wedding the patio was not available. When I called to discuss this I was told we could sit inside and when I mentioned that we had verified our booking earlier in the week no mention was made at that time of the patio not being available. I felt brushed off and like they could careless that they had just ruined someone’s Anniversary plans.

Wonderful view outdoor seating, great menu, and excellent service from our server Johnny. The southwest Caesar salad is unique and delicious. The halibut and salmon entrees were very tasty and done just right. Ending with fruit crisp and creme brules made for a perfect evening. Very highly recommended. In Millcreek Canyon (inside a state park, a fee paid by Log Haven) which is beautiful. There is a large waterfall by the parking lot and a small waterfall adjacent to the dining area. Highly recommended

We tried our luck without a reservation and were able to be seated after a slight wait (it was a week night or we wouldn't have tried without a reservation!). The menu is interesting and the service is perfect - subtle and not too intrusive. The scenery can't be beat and the log cabin ambiance is not hokey at all. The craftsman details upped the game, for sure. We had the bison and the shrimp risotto plus two mocktails and a dessert. All were great!

The first person we encountered in the restaurant, Stephan was rude and unwelcoming. He yelled about their special event tonight and let us know not only could our reservation not be honored but he was angry about it. Very unprofessional and aggressive, not the best person to be the face of the restaurant. When we were grudgingly seated in an alternate outdoor site, the server salvaged the night. He had great suggestions and service. We enjoyed our meals, Filets were tasty, the duck superb. When we left we were not thanked the host was still irritated and upset, very poor hospitality skills. Then we found out he was a manager. Without problem solving skills he should be removed from that position.

Went to Log Haven for an anniversary meal! Loved the drive and the free valet parking. The meal was delicious. We had quail to start and elk and tenderloin. Then warm chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. We loved the live music. What we did not love was the wait staff. Before we arrived I had called asking to sit outside. The host said that seating was first come first served so since our reservation was at 645 we probably wouldn’t get a table outside but he said we might get a window table. When we arrived there was a wedding going on outside so it wasn’t even possible to sit outside and he should have just said that on the phone. We also didn’t get a window seat which was a huge bummer. At other upscale restaurants when you tell them you have an anniversary they usually do something nice (we have received complimentary champagne or dessert or even just something written that said Happy Anniversary but nope) Our waiter was the worst part. He took forever to greet us and was pretty casual. Throughout the meal we saw him less and less. My husband kept wanting to order another glass of wine halfway through his steak and was waiting but it was getting cold so he gave up. Then we waited forever for the dessert menu, forever to order dessert (by that time I was googling dessert places on my phone) and we actually had to ask another waiter to take our credit card because he was no where in sight. We probably spent an extra hour total waiting. He could have had a higher tip on a higher bill if he had been around for us to order more drinks and such. Overall we would recommend but the host should not have lied about the seating and the waiter was awful. Time to retrain them in professionalism.

We took our host out for our last night in town and remembered Log Haven as a good choice. Was it ever! Everything was near perfect --- especially the food. Elk, bison and salmon were all perfectly prepared, and delicious, as were the tuna tartare and the chocolate ganache dessert. The"log" pseudo pioneer decor fit perfectly (tablecloths and all) And the service couldn't have been better. Can't wait to return. COVID or not.

With friends from Arizona visiting, we wanted a warm pleasant leisurely dinner to catch up and just relax. Log Haven is ideal with excellent food, attentive service and a beautiful location away from all the bustle of the city. The menu has great choices for all tastes including vegetarian and between the four of us we had elk, a perfect filet mignon, and the sea scallops. There were chicken, fish, and numerous other choices as well. Everyone finished every morsel. Our server Erik was superb and understood exactly we pace we desired. Delicious deserts and coffees capped the evening. Log Haven has been a special place for years and the quality keeps it high on the list of five restaurant choices.

Celebrated our 35th anniversary last night at Log Haven and it was a wonderful experience. The outside dining area was so beautiful and the food was outstanding. Our server Guy made recommendations and we were so glad we took them. Great wine from Austria, crab cakes with mango salsa were delicious. We followed that with the Southwest Caesar, which was tasty but if my husband like arugula, I would have opted for Guys recommendation and had the arugula salad. My husband had the bison and I have the halibut - can’t say enough how the unique combination of flavors made them such a treat to eat! We ended with the peach cobbler and a wonderful cappuccino. We strolled a bit after and soaked in the atmosphere. We will return! In the times of Covid-19, we felt so safe and had such a pleasurable experience! Highly recommend this place.

Amazing experience. Armand, our server, was top notch. He curated an EXPERIENCE; everything you’d want in a hospitality provider. He guided us every step of the way from appetizers to entrees to drinks and delivered an extraordinary experience that exceeded expectations along the way. Food was great. Incredible atmosphere. Fantastic Piano / Upright Bass Jazz duo set the mood. Fire places roaring. Just an incredibly special birthday dinner with my girlfriend. Top notch.

I’ve been to SLC twice and I’ve been to Log Haven twice. Not only is the setting beautiful but the atmosphere and the food are superb.
We were seated at a table with a view if the waterfall. Our server was Johnny. He was pleasant. We wanted bread but sadly they don’t serve bread anymore. My cocktail was delicious. It had pear liquor. I don’t recall the name. We started with a Caesar salad which was good but our entrees stole the show. I ordered the elk with couscous. The elk was tender, the sauce was tasty but that couscous. Wow! I wish I had an entire plate of that! Delicious. My husband ordered the grilled bone in Duroc Pork chop. That too was excellent. The smashed potatoes were the size of my fist and the flavors worked so well together. I can’t wait to return to SLC to have dinner again.
