Eleven of us dined here for my birthday (20 July 2021). The last time DH and I were here was over a month ago and we hadn't been here in ages. Our last meal was excellent, so I decided to celebrate my birthday here. All of the tables were filled. Busy night. Service was very slow due to the lack of adequate staff. I get it. Many restaurants are understaffed these days. We sat patiently. It took a while to get our drinks and even longer for the waiter to take our food order. Turns out he also made our drinks, so he was working double duty. Tuesday night is $5.99 martini night, so several of us had some tasty drinks. Others ordered wine. I ordered the linguini with clams. Everyone ordered a variety of food. My linguini was extremely salty (too bad, as the dish looked so appetizing) that I could not eat it, so I asked for another entree. One of my friends said the chicken picatta was very good, so I ordered it. It was definitely very good. No one else had complaints about their food. I was treated to tiramisu for my birthday, which I appreciated. Overall a good experience despite a couple of hiccups.

For over fourteen years, my wife and I have chosen Il Porto as our favorite restaurant. Their front service is professional and helpful. Their kitchen staff is skilled and knowledgeable. Our favorite dishes are Billy Salads and Mussels Soup, the Specials (e.g., Roast Veal or Broiled Whole Flounder) and the Flan for dessert. (I once ordered Lobster Ravioli for my main course ...and again as my dessert.) We always ask the server to choose a bottle of wine (within a specific price range) and we are always pleased. Best of all, we often take home enough food and wine for a wonderful meal the next day. We also celebrate Snow Days by ordering Billy Salads and two pizzas at Il Porto on days before snow is predicted. Yesterday was a Snow Day. But since we've really missed the food at Il Porto, we decided to place a bigger order: two Billy Salads and a dish of Red Peppers and Anchovies, an Eggplant Parmesan and a Mussels Linguine, and a flan. Oh yeah! Because it was a Pizza Day, we had a White Pizza with Fontina Cheese. Thank You Kindly, Il Porto. It was the best Pizza Day ever.

Went to Il Porto in Frederick for dinner with friends last Saturday. We had a reservation for 6:30 and our table was ready and we were seated immediately. The restaurant and staff are practicing safety measures for the pandemic and we felt 100% comfortable. The waiter was professional and helped us, it was clear he was there to serve. A gentlemen I presumed to be the manager was checking all the guests to make sure they were happy and was running a very tight ship. We ordered our drinks and food and sat back and enjoyed the evening. The entrees came out in about 20 minutes and it was obvious they were prepared fresh. The portions are large but not insane. You will leave satisfied but not stuffed which is nice. I had the calamari over pasta. The dish was hot and delicious. The calamari were cooked to perfection. The right amount of sauce, just enough to finish up with a piece of bread. Pasta was prefect. I had never been here but will most definitely go again. It was excellent.

Over the years, we’ve dined at Il Porto in Gaithersburg many times. The atmosphere has always been comfortable even when busy, the host always pleasant, the service efficient and attentive, and the various entrees always good and serve hot. Unfortunately our recent dining experience at Il Porto in Frederick was the complete opposite. Even with the restaurant at three quarters full the noise level was so high that it was difficult to hear even just across a small table. For some reason the service to our table was extremely slow such that it took 10 minutes for the waiter to bring requested olive oil and over an hour for our orders to be served. A group which was seated at the same time as us, was finished and leaving before our dinners even came out. When I managed to get hold of the manager to tell him of the situation, his only response was “one minute”. It was several more minutes before we actually received our dinners, and he never came back to check or inquire if we were pleased with our orders. It turned out that we were not; the eggplant parmigiana was served cold, the chicken parmigiana was only just warm and the seafood platter was bland and without the sauce that had been requested. Even the water refill only occurred after we were all finished eating. Needless to say, not an enjoyable dining experience. We won’t be going back to the Frederick Il Porto.

We had reservations, walked in, no one greeted us. We waited about 5 minutes for someone to finally show up. We ordered drinks first. When drinks arrived, we ordered our food. It was 55 minutes until our food arrived! The restaurant was packed and I’m not too sure if they just didn’t have enough people working. I got clams in white sauce, portion small and pasta was too undercooked. The clams were ok. My cousin got chicken Marsala, she said it was good and got a very nice side of pasta that came with it. Her portions were well worth the money. My daughter got crab ravioli… 6 round ravioli, that’s it! She said it was just ok., too much sauce. My son got cheese tortellini and thought it could be warmer. My husband got manicotti and he too thought pasta way undercooked, served lukewarm. and not a good sized portion. We all weren’t finished at same time, but they kept coming and clearing plates while some of us were still eating. I hate that! The check came very quickly. I felt we waited too long for food, ate and check took less time. I don’t think we’ll go back, other good Italian restaurant outside of downtown Frederick. I won’t put the name, but near the movie theaters…

We had a nice dinner at Il Porto. We had a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. By the time we left, the restaurant was full, but the noise level was quiet enough for conversation and the tables weren't too close together. Our server was helpful and answered questions about the menu. The gnocchi is very good - tender and a generous portion. Pastas were nicely sauced. The cold antipasta salad was delicious. The food was very good, and reasonably priced. This was our first visit but it will not be our last.

We moved to Florida 3 years ago and had the pleasure of returning to eat at our favorite restaurant in Frederick, Il Porto. As, usual, they did not disappoint! The food was outstanding, and they are following all Covid-19 guidelines. The owner greeted us as if we had never left! He also made my favorite salad which is no longer on the menu! We loved it so much, we went back two days later to get their delicious white pizza as carry out. We truly wish we had this little gem of an Italian restaurant in Florida. Until next time, thanks for the great meals as usual.

Now, thanks to permission from Maryland, Frederick County, and Frederick City we can dine inside Il Porto’s romantic, attractive dining room. Yes, you can still get home delivery. The receptionist, table servers, the home delivery guys are all courteous, friendly, and efficient. The food is sensationally. Thin crust pizza is perfectly cooked, soft, but firm enough to be easily picked up in your hand. Best pizza in Frederick County. Recent entree’s we have enjoyed, are the Tuscan style Chicken Doratti, with flavor filled Tuscan sauce. Tuscan style is fabulous, but they also handle the styles of Rome with grace and ease. The Chicken Romano proves just how versatile Il Porto’s chefs can be. Italian “street food” is also prepared and elevated . Try the spaghetti with roasted sweet green peppers and sweet , spicy sausage. There are several styles of Alferdo, like chicken, or shrimp. You can even ask for some Alferdo not on the menu. Ask for clams and mussels Alfredo. We hope you wear your masks when you enter, but please take them off to sample the house wines by the glass. Both whites and reds are beautiful selections. The wine quality is high, the wines are inexpensive. Please stay safe and healthy, Enjoy your visit to Il Porto.

The services was good. Everything else was so-so, at best. We were seated quickly. Drinks were served. The bread was cold and tasted like something from a store bakery rather than warm, freshly baked bread you might expect from a white table cloth experience. The cold bread was accompanied by a plate of frozen in the difficult-to open individual serving packages. It was hard and unspreadable. Entrees ordered included ossobuco and a pasta dish. Interestingly, no salad was served with the dinner. The pasta dish was just pasta with a decent sauce. Edible, but nothing to write home about. The ossobuco, at $39.00, came with a a few sticks of very plain asparagus and a formed mound of orzo that tasted like rice soaked in broth . The ossobuco itself was poorly presented, but it tasted pretty decent. Overall, I think we could have gone to Olive Garden and found food just as good, for less money, AND we would have enjoyed a salad and spreadable butter with the entree. The dining experience just wasn't good to warrant a second visit.

My wife celebrated her 65th birthday during our trip to Frederick, and we wanted to do something special, so we had dinner at Il Porto. Overall, our meal was pretty good. Camila provided very good service. We started with a half-carafe of the house chardonnay, which was certainly drinkable. I had the minestrone soup. On the plus side, the soup was not salty, and there was a decent amount of vegetables, beans, and pasta. I did think the soup was a little on the bland and watery side. Our dinners were definitely better. My wife had the tortellini, which she enjoyed, and I had the chicken marsala, served with a side of linguini. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and the marsala sauce and mushrooms were very good. The tomato sauce on the linguini was also enjoyable. Our portions were large, but not enormous. The staff gifted us with a large, delicious piece of tiramisu. We barely finished it, but we also bought a slice of chocolate mousse cake to take back to our room, which we devoured the next night. Prices were slightly high, but reasonable for the quality and quantity of our meals.

Being new to the area, friends had recommended il Porto. My husband and I decided to dine there for our 52nd wedding anniversary. Jorge was our server and he was excellent. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We appreciated the white tablecloths as well as the welcoming atmosphere. Jorge brought a dessert of Tiramisu with a lighted candle on a plate that said Happy Anniversary from il Porto written in chocolate. It was a wonderful way to end our special meal. Many thanks! We look forward to coming again.

We'd been travelling and made plans to meet good friends in Frederick. The suggestion was Il Porto. We all like Italian food but my wife and I live near Charlottesville VA, which has good restaurants but none that we could really call Italian. All I can tell you is that if Il Porto were closer by, we'd be much happier. Our meals were excellent. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was excellent. The only thing that was better than that was the company we kept. The next time we're close to Il Porto, we'll have to make another trip for a fine dining experience.

The restaurant was nice and service was okay although staff seemed more interested in the Super bowl than the customers at times. We both had the shrimp with garlic and though the shrimp were large and well cooked, the dish had no flavor. There was lots of garlic but it had simply had no taste. I have never had to salt a dish like this before but even with Parmesan cheese added it needed seasoning. The cannoli was fine tasting a larger than most restaurants’ but the middle was empty.

Good Ambience, good service, but the dinner was ok. That was unfortunate as the chef must have had a rough night. I loved the look of the place and I had a seat by the window to look onto the street. I enjoyed my waiter and his efforts to accomodate my needs. I stared with the lobster bisque, which was filling and amazing! Then I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp over pasta with grilled asparagus on the side. The lobster was tough and I had to fight it to get it out of the shell. It was on the rubbery side. The pasta tasted great. The desert, chocolate pie was great as well.
