Recommended by our B&B in Laugaras My wife had Langoustine Tortellini which was to die for Unbelievable subtle tastes of passion fruit and spices. My grilled chicken risotto was excellent but anything Langoustine on the menu should be considered first. The piéce de résistance was to come with dessert…crème brûlée with milk chocolate and a decided hint of Star Anise was exquisite. The chef makes his own chocolates on site and it shows. This was served with a contrasting dollop of raspberry sorbet. What a fantastic ending to fabulous meal. The tab was not inexpensive but well worth every Krona. Amazing what you can find in rural Iceland.

Went there for dinner. They made sure there was 2m between tables and hand sanitizers available. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. We had pierogi and chicken and mushroom risotto, both of which were exquisite. For dessert we shared an amazing melt in your mouth chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream. Ate it too fast to take a picture. Would reccommend to everyone. All in all a great experience.

Unexpectedly delicious lunch at this lovely little restaurant! Do not judge a book by its cover as this place will fool you as not much to look at from the outside which could easily make you drive by. Don’t, the food here is fabulous. 10 hungry tourists who had tried to get into two other places without success had the best lunch after pulling in and being greeted by lovely friendly staff. Pizza, amazing! Risotto, one of the best I’ve ever tasted, gnocchi, gorgeous & the Best french fries! Excellent service, piping hot home cooked food, seasoned to perfect! A real treasure of a place with a lovely range of dishes to please everyone’s taste buds! Feeling very chuffed that we ditched the touristy options in favour of this place.

We had to wait 20 minutes and ask multiple times just to get menus, even though we had reserved a table and been seated by a waiter. And on top of that we had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for our food who was in no way worth the wait. Undercooked pizzas and soggy pasta. Granted the staff were overworked but they were in no way willing to give us a discount for our terribly long wait and the manager answered us rudely. We will never go there again and I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Very expensive extra small mediocre dishes. We ordered the special langoustine soup starter dish which was served in an ultra small glass. The main dishes: langoustine cappelletti were 16: very thick pasta, made al dente, un-eatable. The pizza was soft and uncooked. An ultra thin and small piece of chocolate cake: not worthy: just sweet. Mika is a terrible choice. Since they don’t have many alternatives they take advantage of it.

We know several restaurants in Reykjavik area, where we live, but we decided Mika to celebratre my 60th birthday. The lobster and beef always good there Usually when we drop by we order pizzas or lobster soup - those never fail. The handmade chockolate..... you must try.

I was there for a dinner with friends and work colleagues. The location looks interesting from outside, interiors are a bit too irritating and inappropriate, especially compared with the beauty of the surrounding. We order pizza, slightly acceptable, nothing special and nothing I would recommend. Unfortunately the service was poor. They brought us a pizza with an ingredient different from the one stated in the menu. When we ask explanations to the restaurant crew they barely apologise saying that they forgot to tell us. All of this in a quite rude way. Considering food allergies and intolerance I think this is not a professional way to work. And yes, they also let us pay for that wrong pizza. I’m very disappointed since I recently moved in the village and there are not so much restaurant in the area. I will never come back. Luckily I recently discover a nearby nice restaurant inside one of the greenhouse called Fridheimar or, even better, a delicious Ethiopian restaurant in Fludir (the only in town) run by polite and lovely people. I recommend those ones if you don’t want to risk to have any bad memories from your visit in this gorgeous country.

Friendly service and good range of menu choices available. We went for pizzas. There are some unusual toppings available - one had meats and raspberry sauce on, which we thought might be a mistranslation on the menu, but it really meant raspberry sauce (wasn't quite our cup of tea but that's what we ordered so can't complain!). The owners also make handmade chocolates which were very tasty.

We reserved the restaurant for 2 consecutive evenings. The first meal was nice. Very slow service. It took the dishes to get over an hour but the food was good and the waiters were nice. The next evening started with the waitress dropping a bottle of Pepsi on my head, clothes and table, without offering any wet wipes to clean the clothes. It went on that she came back 45 minutes after taking the order to say they ran out of the fish of the day dish. Although I specifically pointed out I am gluten intolerant, the langoustine soup was served with crotons in it! This is inexcusable. Point is that there is no one who guide the staff or overlook what is happening with the guests. When I paid and told these things to the manager he replied: "These things happen". Needless to say, we paid the full amount and no discount or apology were offered.

First of all, as soon as you arrive in town, go to make a reservation or do it online. Very friendly staff. We shared soup and appetizers and these were delicious. Well done. Mqin dish was also tastful, we got enough (no place for dessert) and prices are the same as everywhere in Iceland, so good value for money.

My husband, sister and I arrived at Restaurant Mika close to 10 pm as they were about to close. They graciously agreed to seat us and we had an outstanding meal of lamb dumplings and lamb filets with a delicious sauce and assorted vegetables. The owner was friendly and engaging. We’re only sorry that our schedule won’t allow us to return on this current trip to Iceland which we love and have visited 5 times before.

This was by far the BEST food I've had in Iceland. I ordered the grilled chicken with mushroom risotto and I ate almost every bite. The portion was very large and typically I wouldn't have gorged myself but I was staying in a guesthouse with no refrigerator. The waiter was the owners son and so nice and helpful. This restaurant makes handmade chocolates with flavors I had never heard of. We selected a few based on our waiters recommendation and were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in the small village of Reykholt but is right on the main highway...so worth stopping at!

We were staying at the nearby Hotel Geysir and asked them what they would recommend by way of restaurants in the local area (the hotel restaurant was fully booked). They promptly told us that we should go to Restaurant Mika. We were a bit sceptical about what to expect when we first drove by but were absolutely delighted with what we found inside - both the service and the food were absolutely first class. My partner and I both had langoustine dishes to start which were divine, particularly the langoustine salad (which actually was big enough for a main course, depending on how hungry you are). My partner then had horse stroganoff as a main and I had the grilled chicken. It is a shame we were not staying longer in the area, or I am sure we would have come back again to try out more dishes on the menu.

We had a hotel stay across the road, so this was our best option for an evening meal. The place wasn’t busy but the service was super slow, there wasn’t much urgency to serve us throughout. We ordered a large pizza, which was good, thin, lots of flavour… i think this converts to around £30 for a pizza, it was enough for two thankfully. I think it’s expensive for what it is but there’s not much option around so you get what you can.

We stopped for dinner on a Sunday night and we were glad we had a reservation as the place was very busy. Staff were working hard and the place was clean. Pizza was good. But we were dazzled by their desserts. My teenager had a chocolate drink for dessert that was like a float only better. She was in heaven. I had a creme brulee only it was chocolate with a side of homemade raspberry ice cream. Really good.
