Why open the doors if you're not going to care for your customers? I wonder if the staff is just some don't-care, never-trained students and local hangers-on. Better quality food would be a good idea, too. What a totally missed opportunity!More

Hello! I'm so sorry to hear that your experience dining with us was less than ideal. We are always looking for ways to improve, whether it be the food quality or the service we give. If you're willing to give me more details about your...More
Solid service. Coffee strong, good server (Chloe), food came out pretty quick. Pancakes with ricotta and lemon and blueberries---DELICIOUS. Eggs and potatoes good. Bacon was OKAY. Not the most comfortable chairs (at a table), but it was fine for an hour or less. Had to...park in the garage of the Hampton Inn. But---they let us park for free. A bit of a pain---but nothing major. All in all---this place did a good job. Thank-you!More
Hello! Thanks so much for your review! We're so glad you enjoyed your food!! We'll see you next time :) Best, Emily
Very slow service even though it was after the lunch rush. My sandwich was sitting in the window for 15 minutes before it was delivered and my lunch companions had burgers that hadn’t even been prepared by the time mine was in the window. Staff...did not get that it was unacceptable service both for attentiveness and speed. Food was decent once it arrived, but tots were cold. I don’t normally write reviews but this was so bad it merited a review, particularly because I selected this restaurant based on its good reviews on TripAdvisor.More
Hello, I'm so sorry to hear that your experience in the restaurant went this way. We definitely strive for a much higher standard and clearly missed the mark here. We'd love to have you back in for another meal on us and show you great...More
The BSB has a lot going for it. Nice ambiance, fun people watching, and all that energy that comes from being near the center of everything…, Wife ordered the “grilled cheese” and it was very tasty but not as cheesy as hoped. A healthier version....On the other hand, the tomato soup was INCREDIBLE— perhaps the best she has ever had! I had the Mother Clucker, and it was excellent! Very tasty, while also being quite healthy. Parking can be tough around campus. We got two hours free in the hotel parking lot (with stamp from restaurant) and only used 1 hour. Could have toured State Street, which was only a block (or two?) away, with that extra hour. Opportunity lost! :)More
Had the oatmeal creme brulee for breakfast. It was fantastic and I would eat it every time I was here!! Stop by, you won't be disappointed!!!!!!
Stopped in for a drink to cool down, but couldn’t resist ordering from their wonderful menu! We sat at the bar and were well served our drinks and brunch by our very busy bartender. Bright, fun atmosphere inside and also seating available under umbrellas outside...at corner location for maximum people and pup watching! We wanted to come back a second time, but had to continue on our first trip in Wisconsin.More
Thanks so much for such a wonderful review. Can't wait to have you back! Dina!
Weekday at 11:00 had a short wait with our two University of Wisconsin granddaughters. Good service. Avocado pesto bendicto was excellent with aside of potatoes. As was the green goddess and avocado toast with two eggs. Large portions, food served hot, reasonably priced.
Thanks for coming in Donny! So glad everything went well. See y'all agains soon!
Crowded and noisy. Lots of college kids in sweats. Arrived at 1:30 pm, was told it would be about 15 minutes that there was a party of 3 before us. When I went in to check, they told me there were then 6 parties ahead...of us. Since there are no reservations allowed - how did all these people get put ahead of us? We waited about 1 hour and then another 30 minutes for the food, and 20 minutes for my glass of wine. Almost 3 hours for this brunch!! Between the mask and the Spanish accent, it was difficult to understand our server (and for her to understand us). Did I mention I speak Spanish too? A REGAL SIRLOIN “Buttermilk-battered Sirloin steak, topped with roast beef gravy and sautéed onion. Finished with classic creamed spinach and two sunny-side up eggs.” The presentation was kind of gross looking. Only about ¼ of the steak had batter on it. The rest did not. The part that did have batter was very greasy. Did I mention periodically I got a taste of FISH? Might not be a good idea to deep fry ANYTHING but FISH in the FISH oil!!!! The spinach was not appetizing – skipped it. CRISPY CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD “Buttermilk-battered chicken breast served over a classic Caesar with hearts of romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, fresh dill, and toasted Italian bread.” The Regal Sirloin above should have been served like the crust on this chicken. This was not a bad dish. FARMERS HASH “Roasted sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and parsnips sautéed with onions and rosemary. Topped with two eggs any style and served with toast. Make it vegan: substitute seasoned scrambled tofu for 2.50” Our guest said this was good (and took ½ home with her). FISH TACOS “A platter of three tacos in soft corn shells topped with corn and black bean salsa, red cabbage-cilantro slaw, and avocado-tomatillo salsa. Choose from blackened or beer-battered cod. No additional side.” Our guest said this was VERY good.More

We enjoyed our 3 different plates. Recommend going with an open mind and creative taste buds. We plan to return. Good size portions. Busy for 2:00 on a Friday afternoon. Attentive waitstaff.
Thank yo so much for visiting us! See you again soon!
Good breakfast, even better coffee. There are many things to like about this place. It has a retro ambiance, friendly staff, and very good coffee. Still, the food was uneven. I had the breakfast burrito which was helped tremendously by the (not very spicy) chorizo...chili. Definitely get the spuds side dish with it. Had I not had the chili, however, this would have been one bland dish. Still, all in all, I will return.More
On a cold November day, this place was a warm, cozy, and delicious start to our day. We were graciously greeted and had our choice of booths. Go early because they fill up fast. It's a quick walk from the Doubletree hotel. Although there were...plenty of traditional choices, the Oatmeal Creme Brulee stood out as one of the specialties. We were not disappointed. The custard was the right balance of sweetness and tart and made eating oatmeal a treat. The fruit comes on the side. If you desire something savory, the Chicken and Biscuit featured crispy boneless chicken with well-seasoned sausage gravy and a small salad.More
This was our first visit to Bassett Street Breakfast. There was a 40 min wait on a Saturday morning, but we put in our name and walked to the farmer’s market until they texted us. Our family enjoyed the Breakfast burritos and omelettes. A fun...college campus atmosphere. Would recommend.More
It was a very busy place It had outdoor seating They need to manager the tables a little better so they could open up the seating as soon as somebody left The food was very good we would go again definitely
Half the restaurant is closed off, I assume to staffing issues. Bartenders were a bit unattended, not very friendly. I knew we were in trouble when I asked for a traditional Wisconsin Brandy Old Fashioned and the young man brought out a recipe book! Ended...up with some sort of a sour concoction, so they should probably check the recipe again! Restaurant/bar is not as it was, hopefully on our next visit things turn around.More
Sat outside on the patio a Saturday brunch. Spacing was acceptable. Good service as was the food. Menus Include basics as well as afew meals with a little twists. Also saw they had a nice 3-5 happy hour (beer $3, wine $4 etc). Would love...to drop by and try it out.More
