We brought two college students here on our visit to see them. What a perfect breakfast joint! Cramped & loud but adorable & perfect for a tasty breakfast! Service was fast once we were seated. Expect to wait outside on the weekends especially. We had...about a 30 minute wait. All of our plates were piled high. You wont be hungry when you leave.More

Good food at a great price. Old school diner. I am looking forward to my next trip. Did breakfast this time, lunch with a big slice of coffee cake next.

Your TripAdvisor Webside stated they were open. They are closed. See Photo. Terrible experience because I passed three other locations I would have stopped at. Trip Advisor…wrong AGAIN.

This is NOT a corporate chain restaurant. It’s like a time machine to back when restaurants were unique, local and real. The prices are reasonable and portions are super. Food is great snd service is terrific. If you are in Madison you should not miss...this old favorite.More

If you like diners, you'll like Mickie's. I had the stick-to-your-ribs Rheuban omelet with yanks (fried potatoes)--huge, so I had to take my chocolate malt (made with real ingredients) to go! 😉 But the best part of the experience was the delightful waitstaff--a big shout...out to Arden!More

Beautiul 70-year-oldd restaurant and truly great breakfast. The cornmeal pancake (one is plenty) with butter and maple syrup was more delicious than I could have imagined. And it's perhaps the only restaurant where I feel comfortable ordering a strawberry malt as part of my morning...meal.More

My fraternity brothers and I had breakfast at Mickies Dairy Bar before the Illinois/Wisconsin football game in Madision in 1959. And my wife and I made a point of having breakfast at Mickies Dairy Bar during our visit to Madison. Founded in 1946, it still...is doing business at the same old stand, at 1511 Monroe Street, across the street from Camp Randall Stadium. Mickey Weidman's restaurant has been a game day tradition for Badger fans for generations. Open from 7 to 2 on Wednesday and Thursday, 6 to 2 on Friday and Saturday and 7 to 2 on Sunday, it specializes in "Yanks" or breakfast potatoes or chopped hash browns -- that's "Yanks" as in "Yankees" or Americans -- topped with scrambled eggs and a choice of omelet ingredients, ham or bacon or sausage or mushrooms or broccoli or spinach and topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese and smothered in poultry gravy. I chose a scrambler with a layer of breakfast potatoes, three scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese, gravy and toast with a side of home-made corned beef hash. My wife opted for two marinated boneless pork chops, two scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast. On the way out the door, I couldn't resist taking a breakfast sandwich with me, an English muffin with sausage, cheddar cheese and one scrambled egg. Two other specialities on the menu are steak and eggs, featuring a 10-ounce sirloin, and French toast with two cinnamon rolls.More

This place is suited perfectly for this site. We love finding the out of the norm kind of places that have a ton of character and really great food. This place is that to a “T” read the history it’s cool. Super friendly staff, small...and quaint. Be prepared to wait as it’s a smaller place but it’s totally worth it. I hope you enjoy as we did.More

This place is fantastic. Stopped here before a Wisconsin football game. It is located right by the campus. There was a line out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. This place is like stepping back in time. Food was fantastic, just an amazing breakfast....Get here early on game day. Have a good breakfast and then tailgate or walk around campus before the game. You won’t be disappointed.More

I'm 83, at the age of 16. I began my work ay Mickie's as a short-order cook. All orders back then were "short order. One of the owners was a family friend, Norm Bass. The co-owners first name was Vann. Can't remember his last. My...grilling mentor was an old guy, Bentley, a very heavy drinker. but a good guy. He taught me the art of grill cooking. I truly enjoyed my time there. So pleased, Mickies was a Madison Institution then. More so, now. Then, It was good food, generous portions, reasonable prices. Reviews suggest it hasn't changed. Wonderful!More

Now we know why this is such a popular famous University of Wisconsin breakfast place! Get there early to avoid the crowd! When we arrived there was a short line. The host immediately offered coffee with cream or sugar and brought it out while we...waited. The service was perfect. We each picked different breakfast entrees. Highly recommend the Griddle Pancakes with oatmeal, apple and cinnamon. Omelette with cheddar and broccoli was delicious as well. Kids had banana pancakes and strawberry pancakes that looked delicious too.More

Oh my God you guys this is the cutest little diner. What a blast from the past. Everything's original we read reviews before we went so we were not expecting anything fancy. We asked the waiter how long the place had been there he told...us 1946 the food was amazing and seriously so cheap. My husband and I split the breakfast scramble and we couldn't even finish it. The size of Pancakes we saw coming out were Gigantic! I'm a bit of a coffee snob and the coffee was great. Get there early, by the time we left there was a line down the block just to get in......What a great find!!!More
