This was one of the highlights of our recent NYC visit. Unbeknownst to me, I had booked the kitchen counter (popular), so there was a 15min delay seating us as the previous diners had taken a little longer to enjoy (not surprised). Llama kindly offered us some pisco sours on the house as a gesture whilst waiting, or they were happy to seat us at another table. We were happy waiting, with our Pisco sours, taking in the ambience. Once seated, we watched the superb chefs at work. It's a new menu, and it was delicious. Imaginative, not gimmicky, fresh vegetable dishes, deeply flavoured meats...just perfect. Erik the chef and brandchild of Llama came to say goodnight to us as he left. Charming, and has a wonderfully professional yet warm relationship with his talented staff. Thanks for a great night team!

We visited with my brother who is a local. When he described it as a Peruvian/Japanese fusion thing I was doubtful, but we ordered a selection of dishes between 3 of us and they all blew me away in terms of sheer taste and quality. The staff was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable (but not in that pushy way so hates by us Brits) and the cocktails were original and superbly mixed. I have been raving about this place ever since and every meal I have eaten out since has fallen a long way short.

Amazingly creative dishes; original wine list with wines from Spain & South America; the setting is rather simple (no table cloth) but modern; the noise level is at the limit of what is bearable (the music could be turned down a bit). Better book, since it’s a trendy spot. Overall we hds a nice dinner.

I wanted to love this place. Our server was excellent and started off taking extra time to explain which dishes my husband could eat given his gluten intolerance. The Iberian pork dish and the pea pod small plates were both very unique and tasty. Off to a good start… However, the crispy squid ceviche was overly seasoned and overly saucy. The lomo saltado would have been great but again the seasoning was a little heavy handed (very salty) and the proportions seemed all off. There were so many fries on top of the dish, along with a bowl of rice and a tower of scallion pancakes, but very little beef. It was recommended that we make a “taco” by piling everything in a pancake, but there was literally about one chunk of beef per pancake. Way too much starch to protein and other topping. The shrimp dish was fishy and also too salty. Add to this the fact that the music was so loud it was hard to hear the server speak.

We went there because we read they were nominated for the James Beard award. I’m afraid to say I was not impressed. Being Hispanic, with a Peruvian background, we found the food lackluster. Did not have a savory Latino flavor at all. Yes, they may be nominated and their plates look like your typical bougie type of set up and priced accordingly. But the flavors for purely lacking.

First of all, we decided to visit this place since is a latin American cuisine. Looked the menu online, and for our mini vacations, it was one of the places we wanted to go. We had high expectations. That being said, the waiter ask if we have any allergies, I told mine, we made our order. He came back to tell me I can only eat three dishes apart from the salads, because they cook all dishes on same grill. I talked to him, he went back to ask, came back with the same answer, then the manager came, we talked again, he came back telling us like the kitchen hadn't cooked yet, they will be able to cook for us. Why they didn't decided that from the beginning?? Why bother the client!? Why they can't have two grills?? don't know! And the grill was like 24 inches! Why don't divide the grill then?? don't know! First time this happens to us and we travel usa and Europe a lot. A restaurant restricting me from dishes I'm not allergic just because they cook other dishes on same grill? I believe that's not ok. We ordered a Tuna Ceviche, 2oz of Tuna on the dish, the rest was Jicama on a big bowl. We ordered anticuchos, don't fool urself, is just one and half of a normal anticucho size. Pretty expensive for the amount of food we received and is not fine dining. We ordered an octopus that we had to cancel because it was like an hour late. Don't know if was a waiter error or the kitchen's but we left. We should have left from the beginning, when they told us the dishes restrictions, but it was raining, we took a cab for 45 min on a traffic jam. Where we were going to eat at that time? And when we have reservations, we try not to eat like 4 hours before, cause we love to try lots of dishes on the menu. Only highlight, the Pisco Sours we ordered. This restaurant is a failure in my opinion. These days when economy is the way it is, restaurants closings, etc. We should accommodate the clients allergies or restrictions on food. Why being punished for being allergic?? And we work at the same industry, so we know... I'm sorry for the owner cause sometimes the employees are the ones that make the place undesirable, the Owner Chef, was not at the restaurant.

With a name like Llama Inn, you better have serious food game! Walked to the highly rated restaurant, sans reservation, and was cordially accommodated at the bar. The dimly lit restaurant somehow oozes exciting appeal. I was fortunate that by sitting at the bar, I interacted with the excellent bar staff, who helped make my evening even better. Despite the small menu, making choices is not easy at Llama. I settled for 2 appetizers: the skate wing and the crispy calamari ceviche. Both were incredibly delicious. The best tiger's milk I have ever tasted. An equally well thought out wine list compliments the great food.

Just logged onto Trip Advisor to leave my review and I am astounded by the negative ones here. Did these folks dine at the same restaurant I did? If this is a two-star restaurant in someone's mind what can rate a four or five? Maybe a night a Milliways with Zaphod Beeblebrox, because it would have to be so out of this world to beat the meal I had at Llama Inn. (Sorry, I will slip off my high horse) My wife and I had Sunday brunch at Llama Inn and were blown away. It's a cute Brooklyn eatery tucked away next to the BQE. Casual in design with an uncrowded floorplan, openish kitchen, large well stocked bar in the center of the room, with lots of windows and plants that give the smallish space a bigger green airy feel. Peruvian cuisine is obviously at its heart, but that is just a launching pad for the exotic flavors and delicious creative dishes they serve. We were warmly greeted immediately upon arrival and after they looked up our reservation, were seated right away. Our waiter was knowledgeable, answered any questions we had without being overly doting or pushy, and even steered me towards an astounding glass of Tempranillo red wine. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her mixed drink, a Chicha Merada. We ordered the beet tiradito, tamal, and fried chicken sandwich. All were way above average, unique in flavor, texture, preparation, and presentation. I would try to describe each, but I know my flowery adjectives would not do it justice and I would sound like a trite Food Channel rerun. Just go and try each of them yourself, you will not be let down. Promise!!! Portion size was appropriate for that style of elevated cooking. Pacing of the meal was perfect. We shared all three dishes and had a hard time choosing a favorite. Any one of them I would order again in heartbeat. I am not a big dessert person, but I could not stop eating the lucuma my wife ordered. Just as amazing as the other dishes. We expected a good meal, what we got was something very special that we kept talking about days later. We had dinner two days earlier at a trendy lower Manhattan famous chef's Michelin star awarded restaurant, and frankly, our experience at Llama Inn overshadowed it. Ignore the negative reviews here, and don't hesitate going. I can't wait to go back.

I wish I could give it a 1 star, but I can't. The rest of the food was exceptional. However, the kitchen was a mess, The food came out in no particular order, and they forgot 2 dishes that we ordered. I had to remind the runner that we were waiting for more food because he was clearing the table. The waitress came and I had to remind her that 2 dishes were missing and then the fried chicken and picarones arrived I cut into it and it was RAW. Called the waitress and her face told the story she was in shock without saying a word she immediately removed the plate. Manager came and said I understand your food was undercooked. NOT UNDERCOKKED RAW No apology whatsoever new dish came 10 minutes later but still missing the other. Had second conversation with manager gave him the whole night experience and told him to cancel the last dish. The brought it anyway. By then it just became a horrible dining experience. Still waiting for an apology.

We visited Williamsburg to eat and we hit some of the major players - Four Horsemen, Francie and Llama Inn. All had great food, but only the Llama Inn left us feeling ripped off. The menu doesn't look that bad when you read it - but once your food comes you see that the portion size for anything under $80 is tiny (as in tapa-sized). $40 for a miniature pork chop? We had a better tasting chop 4x as large for half the price at Tra Di Noi - but of course that's in The Bronx and lacks the bro-boasting status of Williamsburg. I realize some people actually enjoy overpaying for things just to demonstrate to the world that they have so much money that it doesn't matter to them. If that's you, then pull yourself away from watching Salt Bae videos, jump into your Land Rover and drive on down to the Llama Inn - they've got what you want.

In a not great part of the very hot part of Brooklyn is the Llama Inn that would be a start in the hottest parts of Manhattan. The food is semi-Peruvian but whatever it is, it is extraordinary. And very good value.

Loved my dinner at the Llama Inn! Had three different dishes and loved each one! Of course I can’t remember the exact dishes I had - a ceviche, a scallop and delicata squash dish and the Lomo Saltado. All were unique and very tasty.

We arrived a few minutes late for our 8pm reservation on 10/11. All was going well and we were seated about 8:10-8:15. We proceeded to order some drinks and appetizers. The waiter was nice and made some good drink and app recommendations. About 20min later, we ordered the chicken entree. The chicken took about 40minutes to come out. It was about 9:20 when it was placed on our table. My fiancé went inside to use the restroom and it was then that she was approached by the manager on duty the evening of 10/11/20 who told her that “they’d like to go home soon bc it was a slow night and theyd appreciate if we could wrap things up”. It wasn’t even 9:30pm. And we had just been served our entrees. The manager and a couple others were hovering around the bar and were heard laughing and saying “yeah it’d be nice to not be here all night”. My fiancé was upset. She felt disrespected and rightfully so. We’re about to spend over $200 on dinner and they are rushing us and being rude while doing so. I confronted the manager and told him there’s no need to be disrespectful. I told him we’ve barely been here an hour and the food just came out. He yelled. He said he wanted us gone and tried to shut the door on me. I sat back down to finish our dinner. At roughly 9:38pm he yelled at us that he was calling the cops. He called the cops and lied by telling them “we refuse to pay our bill”. At 9:40pm I called the cops too. At this point we felt we were being harassed. When the police arrived, I told him that we were in fact not trying to leave without paying and our party of 4 was still sitting at our table. He eventually told the cops he just wanted us gone. They asked us to leave. I tipped our waiter $40 and we left without finishing our meals. Whoever this person was, should immediately be fired. To have someone like that represent your establishment is a disgrace. And a shame because the food at Llama Inn is really great. This was certainly not my first time here, but it will definitely be my last.
