This is a restaurant known for its brunch, which they serve all day, regardless of what part of the week. The food is ample and extremely delectable. I ended up taking one of the empanadas and half of the torta home and they reheated quite well. I ate the chocolate cake as it probably would not have done as well traveled well. I also had a few tasty mocktails. I went early for lunch time and am glad I did. As the restaurant busied up, my server had a harder time getting around to the table, but otherwise the service was kind and straightforward. I would go back again.

We stopped at this little neighborhood restaurant on a beautiful sunny afternoon in early March. A day surprisingly warm for the season. The neighborhood in this part of Lafayette Street in Brooklyn is very peaceful although there is some traffic. So we took a seat on the small terrace on Rue Lafayette: there are actually two of them. The restaurant is located on the corner of two streets, One terrace per street! Each bistro table had a heat lamp, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The menu seemed to consist of Spanish and Greek dishes, but with a modern twist. We just had the farro salad and the onion soup: both were excellent. The service was fast, and the staff was courteous (on a New York scale!) In addition, we quenched our thirst with some good cold Mahou. The unisex toilets, however, could have used more care. In short, a nice place to grab a bite to eat if you’re in Brooklyn!

I recently had dinner at Olea prior to seeing a play at BAM which is down the street from the restaurant. The entire Olea experience was excellent. The interior is casual and elegant at once. The food was spectacular- I had the goat cheese croquettes and the super delicious Arctic Char. We ordered a bottle of French red wine which was great and reasonably priced. The service was attentive and alert and polite. It was my first experience at Olea and I will certainly be recommending it to friends and returning soon. Make a reservation- it was packed with a line out the door the night I was there.

If you're not eating alone and can sneak in at the bar (like me) then you will need to book - and for a reason. Staff are great, food is delicious, wine is excellent. Sometimes when travelling one craves real food - this is it. Oof - now to roll home like a little barrel...

After a 16 month pandemic induced dining out hiatus,it was with great anticipation that we visited Olea on a delightful Saturday evening. Despite the absence of a reservation we left our name and phone number, and as we were promised, a text arrived in 40 minutes and we returned after a delightful stroll in beautiful Clinton Hill. The service was friendly and professional, the menu ample, and the dishes were well prepared. Fairly priced all in all. The outdoor seating was perfect. Looking forward to returning soon.

We live in the West Village, and our son recently moved to Brooklyn. This was our family’s first time at Olea and we loved it! The food was delicious, portions were generous, the menu eclectic--- something for everyone. The small plates are wonderful. We had the corn salad (excellent), the Greek chicken platter (our son loved it), the creamy polenta (yum!) , the falafel crusted artichokes hearts (highly recommended), the brisket in pomegranate reduction special and homemade sangria (really good). For dessert we had a surprising delicious vegan cheese cake with fresh raspberry sauce plus dulce de leche ice cream which we happily scooped into our espressos. We loved the vibe of this place and would definitely return.

I’ve only been to Olea for diner once and that was close to their opening date. Since then Ive only gone for Brunch and this Lamb Hash is something to die for. Really recommend it. Delicious strips of lamb, with potatoes and green peas along with a fried egg on top. Excellent and very cozy place. A decouvrir.

This was the first place we stopped to eat lunch while visiting the NYC area. Fantastic is the word that best describes our meal. Quaint restaurant with a welcoming staff and outstanding food. Suggest seeking this place out and we suggest the lamb hash……

We stopped in for a late breakfast, noon, and had a terrific meal. Service was perfect, atmosphere fun and eclectic, a perfect neighborhood bistro. We had the frittata and the eggs poached “in purgatory” (their description), both of which we devoured with pleasure! I could go on and on, just go here and enjoy yourself with good food. Highly recommended.

After traveling an hour and quarter by subway from the upper east side, then walking about 20 minutes to arrive at Olea at 5:30 pm for a pre-Polonsky Theater dinner, like the other reviewer, I was informed that I could not be seated until my husband arrived! I was tired, in need of a glass of wine and at 74 years old, I sort of insisted on sitting at a back booth, pretty much over the objections of the hostess and greeter who was rather unfriendly. We only had little over an hour for dinner, so since my husband’s subway was delayed, I was able to order our dinners which arrived right after he did. I did feel a bit rude myself, and can understand a restaurant not wanting someone to dwell for hours at a needed table, but the incident made me feel unwelcome. That said, our waiter was attentive and gave excellent service and the food is delicious. Olea offers happy hour and was quite busy, so I guess hospitality is not a big priority. I would very much like this to be our pre-concert restaurant for BAM and Polonsky events, but we will see how things go. The first time we dined there, it was pouring rain and it was my husband who arrived first. He had no problem being seated alone and was happily drinking wine when I arrived. Last night, the special avocado and pomegranate salad and the onion soup were delicious as was my husband’s Arctic char. The menu is full of interesting sounding dishes to try and lots of good wine.

I was greeted by a most unwelcoming hostess. Yes, she had an available table, but only when my party arrived. In other words, single diners should stay away, Olea is nice enough for those who miss the attitudes and levels of service experienced by unknowing travelers to the Soviet Union, a country that went down the toilet a generation or so ago. Soviet staff would greet you with : "we have tables, alright, but not for you". That is; when your party arrives, talk to us again. We'll have to move you back to square one, or course. If you question the inhospitable practice, you will get a free lecture on the Olea mantra: "Policy". In fact, the whole staff seemed to be aware of this magic word: "policy". Olea has a policy. Oh yes, in all fairness, the barman, the grown-up among the uber-hip, did make me a cocktail. When attempting to drink it, though, the waitresses told me that I was in their way. When I asked where i would be less of a nuisance to the help, I felt that I was told to hit the road. This is where you get off. In short; after my brief, brief visit to Olea, I felt like the staff had peed on me, before they complained that I stank. Try again? I don't think so.

Let your self be dragged to Brooklyn and try Olea. The decoration is cozy and the crowd is easy. We shared some dishes as hummus, fried olives, Falaffel, Goat cheese Croquettes among others. All dishes were excellent. Service was nice and friendly. New favourite.

This is such a cool place. Really pleasant decor, good food, relaxed vibe. Several good vegetarian options. Nice to hang out and work in the afternoon, popular in the evening. Prices on the reasonable side for Brooklyn. It’s my new favorite!

As a rule I try not to give 5 stars as that should be for the ‘perfect experience’ however the food and service at Olea was very good indeed and anything less doesn’t seem appropriate. We were out in Manhattan and we’re back in Brooklyn later in the evening. Olea was some where I’d checked out prior to our arrival. We got to the restaurant around 9ish on a Monday night and asked if they could seat 2 which the could easily. From the outset the service was incredibly welcoming. The atmosphere in the restaurant was young professional but we felt at home there. Straight away we were given tap water without asking and that level of service continued throughout the visit. When I looked at the menu I thought some of the dishes looked a little ‘pricey’ but after eating the food we couldn’t fault the cost for the quality of what we had. We ordered fried peppers (a little like patron peppers) and some fried sprouts for a starter (entree). I had the orecchiette pasta with Italian sausage and Laura had the chicken thighs with mashed potato. Both were delicious and well worth what we spent. To the extant a couple of days later Laura commented that she was still thinking of the chicken dish. Lovely atmosphere, great food and incredible service. Thank you.
