Daughter (Brooklyn local) and I had dinner here, ate at the bar. Their steamed pork buns were awesome, as well as the "Awesome Beef" entree we split.

Went there for dinner with an out-of-town friend who rarely has access to high-quality Chinese food. We were both delighted! The restaurant has an extensive menu of Shanghaiese dishes and other regional specialties, including a large selection of dumplings. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful - especially the chicken sauteed with green chili peppers, which is one of the best Chinese dishes I've had in a long time! The restaurant has a homey, non-pretentious ambiance (you feel like you're in a traditional Chinese restaurant), and our server (Rachel) was incredible - efficient, extraordinarily friendly, and happy to answer our questions about items on the menu, make recommendations, and add tidbits of information about different Chinese regional dishes. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and can't wait to return!

Authentic Chinese Restaurant in Williamsburgh. Homemade soup dumplings are the best I ever had! Try them, you will be impressed by their size.Chinese Black Mushroom with Bok-Choy was delish! Shanghai Style Lo-Mein (shrimp, shredded chicken, pork and spinach in a delicious brown sauce. Definitely on our list to return.

This chinese restaurant is a lot better then the 'standard' Chinese restaurants in NYC.
We had a table full of small dishes sharing with 4 of us. The favorites were to wontons and the salmon. High quality for a moderate price.
Seriously recommended.

Was not expecting to go out on a Monday but our son & his Fiancé picked this gem. I am a Chinese food junkie. Can’t get enough of it, but only authentic high quality, not the cheap corn starchy takeout joints. We ordered a load of dishes to share. Soup dumplings are great although the skins were a little doughy but loved them just the same. Garlic eggplant, pork belly with veggies, Shanghai noodles always a favorite and Chinese broccoli. For four people we all enjoyed. A few beers for the boys and wine for the ladies and it was perfect. I was surprised the waitstaff was not Asian but our waitress was spot on. She knew the menu and was prompt with anything we needed. I would love to go back here.
Enjoy

Williamsburg is certainly a mecca for fun restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. Among that list is M Shanghai Bistro and Garden. It is a real local place and doesn’t look slick or ‘designer’ but it is worth the trip. Starting with the steamed dumplings is the way to go. Your waitress will delightfully mix a dipping sauce at your table for your dumplings. We had the pork dumplings. My dinner was the M Shanghai Style Lo Mein noodle dish…very good and I didn’t know that a round fat noodle is more authentic than the flat noodle that we are used to, generally. Our portions were quite large and I usually have one or two meals to enjoy later. They have two rooms in the restaurant-the back room is much quieter and has heaters when that is required. As far as cost, it is not inexpensive but it is fresh, delicious and served with care. Go and enjoy.

The food portions are like rations when you are at war. But the bill was large. I left the place still feeling hungry. Not to mentio. That before you are even finished the waiter is coming around taking your plate and before you get a ch as to wipe your mouth clean the bill is staring you in the face.
I don't understand why, they were totally empty, on a Friday night.

It's in Williamsburg but only one stop on the subway from Manhattan. It's nothing like your usual Chinese restaurant but got a funky artsy vibe. Great pre dinner drinks at the well stocked very long bar. Great atmosphere at their communal benching tables. Always in a party mood there. Juicy buns are the most famou dish here but the chicken dishes and vegetarian dishes I have tried were all tasty and fresh as well. The waiters are mostly long timers and know the customers well. The owner May is always there chatting up customers. Great friendly service and highly recommended for a happy night group out.

Ok this my my go to place for Chinese juicy uns, or soup dumpling as some people call them.
Yes they are excellent here, so are the chicken wing, but the rest of the menu( and I have tried 2x almost EVERYTHING) is just so so. The service brings this place up to 4 stars. If they made everything as well as the buns. This place would be 5 plus

After a month in China this summer, we were anxious to compare the food at this Brooklyn restaurant. It was a hike from our place in Manhattan but well worth the trip. The servers were very knowledgeable and pointed us to their favorites on the menu. 4 of us all shared 6 dishes including dim sum and all of us loved every one. Best of all the price was quite reasonable especially given the proximity to Manhattan. Highly recommend!!

Everything we got tasted like it was made fresh instead of in huge batches. The vegetable fried rice was some of the best I have had and the vegetable dumplings were great as well. For our main meal we got the tofu with black bean sauce and it was delectable. We were sat in the back room where it was WAY TOO HOT!!!! They kindly turned down the heaters though and we enjoyed it. It would be a nice area to sit in the summer. It was a very busy place that catered to kids and large groups. Would definitely try this place again.

I am not so up to date on hipster food but this place seems to fit the bill...the wonton soup was interesting, I have never had seaweed in wonton soup...it was not bad but I won't be ordering it again for 5 bucks at lunch...
I ordered the special fried rice for 7.50$ which was well prepared . But I wanted a little chinese mustard and duck sauce. Needless to say they did not carry those items.
final conclusion....you can't beat chinatown if you like the old fashioned chinese food
