Outstanding barbarque. Everything was good, we had the potato salad
and beans which were outstanding. And then some of the BBQ and brisket, it was so nicely smoked I couldn't
believe it. But it was a bit expensive think we paid $60 for two people but that's how it goes in New York City.
Then to Sunny's for NC Bluegrass! Felt right at home.

This is the America I love: original, not pretentious, and high-quality. The meat was astonishing, each type was cooked perfectly and each had a proper garnishment. Price are definitely affordable and the atmosphere is very friendly and located in one of the oldest part of NY.
I do eat meat rarely, and only if I find it reasonable: that dinner was definitely more-than-reasonable.

Just so you know: if you ever go there, there is a supermarket called Food Bazaar across the street. I used to live in an apartment above Food Bazaar, so Hometown was a place I went to often. I moved two years ago and one of the things I miss most is Hometown. (I put visited Jan 2023 because there was no “many times” option.) One year, my family’s Christmas card photo was taken outside on the wooden benches, and I celebrated my birthday there one year.
Anyway, the food is so good! Best BBQ ever! The brisket is amazing, the pulled pork is so delicious, the Mac and cheese is so creamy and good, and the collard greens are super good, despite the fact that I don’t like collard greens! For dessert, the cornbread is delicious and I still remember how sweet and sticky it is! (In a good way.) There is also banana cream pie, but I’ve never tasted it because I don’t like bananas.
There are high chairs for toddlers and babies to sit in, and I remember climbing on the stack of them when I was younger. (Seriously don’t do this or let your kids do this.) The staff are lovely and super friendly. There were often bands playing live music on the stage in one corner of the restaurant. There was almost always a red drum set there and kids were allowed to play with it, so long as they didn’t break it.
I highly recommend Hometown. Maybe you won’t like it, but I bet you will, it’s just that good! 😊

Overpriced bbq. Prices listed on line are all much higher when you arrive there. Nothing special average bbq establishment. None of the food was hot you were lucky if it was warm even the food that was brought to the table was just warm.

We were excited to try this place as many people had recommended it as good KC BBQ, unfortunately it was a total disappointment. The poor organization or ordering and receiving your food meant we waited an hour in line for food, even though the line wasn’t terrible. Once we got up to the register we ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket and pulled pork based on the menu since all the sandwiches were sold out. The employee measured our the pulled pork at 3/4 of a pound and we thought he was being nice since we waited so long. Then he did the same with the brisket. When we went to pay we realized this was not a way of being nice but a way of suckering us into paying per pound as we were charged by the pound instead of the menu price listed. I can see now why the line took so long is other people most likely argued about this but we had waited so long we were over it. The meat was lukewarm at best verging on cold. The flavor was okay but nothing special. The potato salad and cauliflower wings were good. Even if it wasn’t for the poor service the food wasn’t enough to bring us back.

We arrived Sunday around 2pm and the queue was across 3 sides of the room. Good first impression, as people obviously like the food. We grabbed a table and a few beers whilst a friend queued. In fact he queued for over an hour. Just one person serving main cuts and one serving sides.
It’s been said on here a few times... it’s hard to know how much it’ll cost. We went for brisket, pork, 5 spare ribs, sausage and pit beans.. €115... we thought €100 max incl tip but we were well out. Add drinks (x 3 each because of the wait) and we were €260 all in... €50 a head is too much.
But with queues that long and the tills ringing, I guess they don’t care.
Lovely food, I must say that!
NYC is overpriced but this topped it off.

Returned to Hometown today after a disappointing visit last time, and I have to unfortunately say that I was once again disappointed. This place used to be the bomb and it has declined significantly.
Smoked Turkey was tender but tasteless. No taste of turkey nor hint of smoke in the taste.
Smoked Brisket was tender but chewy and also lacked taste. The bark was tasteless.
Baby Back Ribs were overdone, and also lacked taste.
Extremely disappointing.

We had 1 pulled pork sandwich at $17, that had hardly any pulled pork, almost the same amount of average cole slaw on the sandwich?? Pulled pork with coleslaw on the same bun ?? The bun was about the same size as a Big mac bun. The pulled pork was average tasting.
3 average spare ribs, mostly fat ,the ribs were pink for the same price $17. The mac and cheese and the corn bread was very good. Way to much $$ for the quality of and for what we actually received ,felt ripped off. I wouldn't go back or encourage anyone to travel any distance to this place.

This is one of the very few barbecue joints in the States that receive Michelin recognition. Hometown Bar-B-Que is an unpretentious eatery at Red Hook, a former industrial neighborhood at Brooklyn waterfront. Decor is hip industrial style with counter service only. We came on a weekday late afternoon and it was surprisingly busy. The signature smoked meat is an instant favorite. While the more conventional options like brisket and pastrami bacon are loyal to southern traditions, the creative takes like homemade sausage, Korean ribs and Vietnamese wings make Hometown a truly unique place. Meat is well-seasoned but not excessively salty. Price is very reasonable. Do come early to avoid a long queue.

Came back after a few years fir bbq to go. The line miraculously wasn’t long and was able to order fir the family within 10 min from the wrap around ramp.
The Draft beer selection was on point as they had my 2 favorites, Fiddlehead IPA from VT., and Green City IPA, from right here in Brooklyn. We ordered spare ribs, brisket sandwich (my fav) pulled pork , queso w/ chips and brisket (not sure how the brisket fits into the mix per se). Also cornbread and banana pudding.
Came home and inhaled almost everything. As the rest will be for snacking for the week ahead.

Food was freezing cold and the staff gave us a bad attitude. I'm a big fan of BBQ so this was a big disappointment, I'm not sure why they were sarcastic and impatient with us as it was our first time. There's also no service, but they grilled us when we didn't tip. No one gave us service what was the issue? Confusing place I don't recommend.

I just ordered online the Korean BBQ ribs 4 orders. The total price $80. The ribs were rubbery/chewy and tasted old. The online order- was short one rib as they gave half a rib. The last time I ordered the brisket to go, the brisket did not taste a fresh as the past. Like many restaurants, I think they are letting their name carry them through. I’m interested to see the reviews of black and brown people of the quality of their orders for person experiences

Food is pretty good but I wud never come back because of lack of service. After getting on the line for food which is common for BBQ places, I need to pay for that and then pay again for the drinks. Extremely inconvenient. What is worst is the attitude of the servers, they act like they doing us a favor and some privilege they are even talking to us. Whatever, losers, won't come back.

A little out of the way from the tourist circuits but worth the journey. Delicious meat, one of the best I've ever eaten, excellent cornbread, choice of craft beer. Recommended without a shadow of a doubt. Compliments!

Had been to one of their other locations many years ago. Stopped for lunch here. Didn't know they were Michelin rated. Thoroughly enjoyed the brisket sandwich and a side of their delicious cornbread. Happy they had interior as well as exterior seating. Would recommend.
