We enjoyed our stay very much - nice restaurant with cozy atmosphere, all staff member super friendly. My husband had the burger and I went with the grilled octopus - absolutely delicious. The most positive surprise for us was that the check came only when we asked for it - so we could stay as long as we wanted, no hurry or pressure to pay the check after finishing eating. We know this from Europe but usually we experience this different in the U.S..

Push back the non-descript doors and let another world wow you. That is my first impression of this place. I was at staying at The Box House hotel next door and decided to check out the neighbour - and it was exactly the kind of place I was looking for. Real fireplace, quiet, friendly service in a beautiful setting to enjoy a warm meal on the cold winter day I was there. Had a lamb pasta with a lavender tea. Yummy! My senses were very satisfied. This restaurant is an event destination type place with the whimsical outdoor seating - it used to be a garage and nightclub so appreciative of the owners’ work done to transform / repurpose it into such a lovely space.
A word on event type places : it’s great for those invited but not sure if I as a wandering tourist would want to be part of the uninvited crowd - it’s one of those places I’ll probably call in advance or check their social media to see if there is something on then decide if I want to enjoy this place when it is more quiet or avoid being disappointed / turned away because it is booked out for an event. Or if like me, get lucky - this is a gem find.

We had the most incredible meal at Milk and Roses! We are from San Francisco, so we are often spoiled with great Italian food in the city and Napa. But, this was a meal that we will remember forever. First, the cocktails were delicious: not too sweet and balanced. We started with a burrata salad, which was a beautiful burrata and fresh cherry tomato. Each person at the table ordered a different main course, including steak, duck, sea bass and salad del mar. Every dish was exquisite. But, the duck was simply superb. Everything on the plate complemented the corresponding protein perfectly. The Italian wine pairing was ideal for each dish, but especially the steak and duck. Our deserts, included almond pear tartine and a one of a kind flan.
We cannot recommend this place higher. Truly a restaurant that deserves recognition for authentic, beautiful and fresh Italian food.

Very atmospheric small restaurant in Greenspoint area of Brooklyn. We sat inside because the evening was chilly but the outdoor garden seating looks beautiful for a warm evening. A few Italian inspired dishes...we had shrimp over bucatini that was excellently prepared. Very friendly and well trained staff. Our server, Daniela, was knowledgeable and attentive which made for an enjoyable evening. Would definitely return here

We've been going there since it opened and will continue to go there. There's nothing wrong with average homemade tasting food and good coffee! Honestly, a little bit on the pricey side for sandwiches, but you can stay in the carefully created spaces in the yard as long as you like. The interior space is lovely in winter! Beautiful spot to meet friends and family.

This is a charming restaurant with REALLY good food. I had the best cheeseburger I have had in a very long time if not the best ever. Perfect fried potatoes. Very nice servers. Highly recommend!!!

The bad:
Brunch. Out of orange juice at noon.... but still serving $15?... $18? mimosas. How does that work? From a mix?
The toilet brush in the bathroom was on view and rather disgusting.
The $8 Peligrino was room temperature.
The possible bad day:
The wait staff was trying, but the overall organization was bad. How hard is it to prepare for brunch by ordering up lots of oranges? ... or going to the grocery store and buying some. Or to chill a bunch of bottles of sparkling water the night before? Or how about drizzling more than three drops of EVO on the complimentary bread... good bread.
The good:
Very nice dining area and outside garden. Very nice, save for the really uncomfortable benches seated in mosquito infested mulch. I also liked the bottles of still water on the table, but perhaps chilled water??? Would that be too much to ask? A little chilled? That would be a nice touch.
Our food was all good. A quibble...the shakshuka was just Italian tomato sauce and the eggs were fried and added on top... not poached in the sauce. It was good, just not shakshuka. The $27 burger? Everyone who got one liked it, but as with all pretentious restaurants these days, aioli comes automatically and ketchup must be requested. By the time I got ketchup my food was luke warm and I'd eaten half the burger and fries without it. Without ketchup it was very good... but for $27, I would have preferred ketchup with the food while it was still hot.
ALERT! Restauranteurs and chefs. Please don't dictate condiments to your customers. Stop telling us what we should like. Us Amr'kins like ketchup on hamburgers, french fries, and some even like it on hot dogs (fightin' words). Leave us to our barbarous ways. Get over yourselves. lf you put a hamburger on the menu, expect the customer to wand ketchup.
Very good fries. Liked the rocket side salad too.
The place is expensive and simply isn't worth it. I can only hope that our experience was an anomaly.

Warm, artsy interior, interesting menu, but very pricey for the quantities -- we left rather hungry!

Got a table for 4 without a reservation at 7p on a Friday night. Don't have to worry about fighting crowds here. A rather small food and wine menu, but nicely curated. Great meat selections and traditional vegetable sides...without the steak-house prices. The paprika octopus with fennel salad was a stand-out. Only disappointment was the limited wine list.

We had dinner out in the garden (which you wouldn't know was there from the front). Food and service were both great with a good choice of dishes.

We read a few reviews of this place and popped in for dinner one night. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, which was a plus. The menu was very limited and nothing really stood out. Our dinners were ok, but nothing special at all. The staff was friendly but hardly said two words to us...a strangely quiet atmosphere. Would not return. With all the choices in Brooklyn and NYC, this one did not stand out.

5 of us went out for dinner not knowing anything about this place. What a pleasant experience. Dimly lit, neat atmosphere and pleasent staff. Every dish we had was fantastic. Brazini with veggie was amazing, sausage dish was perfect, pasta dish with short rib meat also amazing. We all tried each others dishes. The tiramisu the best But it was way to little and way to pricey for a tiny dessert. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area. Take note it is cash only.

Pretty good choice when in Greenpoint. Their menu is simple but the food is rather good; also the venue is interesting, eye-catching, though relaxed both the interior and the small garden but there is a need of a bit of renovation, yet the underlying sense of decadence gives a certain charme.
Prices are good.
A special mention to the excellent help of their Italian waiter.

Cool little place...almost missed it as it’s so unassuming and sign is faded. Italian food was very good. Good service but cash only.
