We visited Russ & Daughters while staying nearby. Such a unique experience. Gorgeous authentic menu and lots of options. We got a bread basket as extra to taste all that was available but we were barely able for it as the portions were so filling....Staff were friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:20 and it opened at 8:30. There was already a small queue but we were seated immediately - party of 5. Great experience and delicious food.More

Friendly staff and great food. Only challenge is its popularity. If you want to go for brunch on a beautiful Saturday in NYC, you have to be prepared to wait. Everyone was friendly and helpful including the host, wait staff and anyone else walking by...the table. The food was classic NY deli with outstanding lox and bagels. I only wish they would sell their babka by the slice. Worth the trip.More

The restaurant’s atmosphere complements the delicious ferments and cured fish dishes perfectly. Old deli furniture and display cases over the parquet marble flooring gives off a classy-casual vibe that they’ve carried through into every detail, including the servers’ butcher-jacket uniforms. We had some pickled herring...on pumpernickel, smoked salmon on crisps, and salmon roe & creamcheese on potato latkes. Delicious. We also split a homemade cherry-Sichuan pepper shrub Great experience, I’ll definitely be backMore

Yes, the place that your nice Jewish relatives ship you bagels & lox from is real and you can visit it and you should. It's just as tasty in person - if not more tasty because you know UPS hasn't gotten its hands on your...shmear yet. I recommend ordering way too much - just like you would if you were getting it shipped so you feel like it was worth the schlep. The bagels are delicious, the lox is fresh, the coffee is well: coffee - no frills when it comes to the beans. And the regulah!More

Fantastic place to enjoy smoked salmon and bagels. Enjoyed the platter with a friend, but expensive but worth the money. Lovely environment and excellent staff.

The menu is an interesting update of classic deli specials. My friend and I had the whitefish salad with wasabi infused roe, on a toasted bagel. Deelish! Coffee is excellent and best was the service. The waiter was so gracious - very untraditional for a...Jewish deli but I'll take it.More

Highly disappointed with the Classic Board which was extremely poor with three smallest and thinniest slices of lax and hardly chewable bagel ! Blitzies were excellent !

This was our second trip to NYC and we had such a great experience at Russ and Daughters the first time we had to come back. We enjoyed the awesome spritzers and the delicious Nova. The latkes crushed it again.

A unique deli experience with a focus on fish. The herring platter was exquisite - as was the smoked white fish chowder. Be sure to get there a little early and be on the wait list. The place is very popular and you will need...to plan for some buffer time while you wait. The sodas are a signature drink worth trying. Some great ole favourites on the menu. NOTE - No smoked meet - mostly fish choices.More

My friend and I finally made it to the cafe. I'm a long time patron of the delicatessen, so this was a special treat to get to the cafe. Absolutely love the decor. Our waiter behind the bar couldn't have been friendlier, and what a...genuine smile on that guy! Lit up the room. And he seemed to genuinely enjoy what he was doing. That always shows through. We had lunch and cocktails. I love the menu. Fantastic selection. Drink menu is so special. We had the smoked martini and Lower East Side. Delish. For food we had the mushroom barley and smoked whitefish chowder (omg yes!) that came with a piece of matzoh. Delish again. And we shared the challah bread pudding which comes out warm. What can I say but this restaurant is doing everything right. Will be back!More

My first stop after dropping off my luggage in New York is Russ & Daughters, no matter where I am staying in the city. Russ and Daughters has changed and I am not sure it is for the better. We were there on a weekday...at 8:30 when they opened and I was asked 3 times if I wanted an alcoholic drink. The ingredients are still great but the quantity has decreased. We felt we should have ordered more this time. I will definitely return next month, order online and continue to suggest friends visit - but perhaps not as enthusiastically as in the past.More

They’ve done a fantastic job with the space, giving it the full retro diner look, while also staying true to the original R&D; vibe. They serve breakfast all day, including eggs, bagels, smoked fish, matzoh ball soup, and all kinds of Jewish comfort food. All...the classic bagel sandwiches come laid out on photogenic wood boards, which you’ve no doubt seen in your Instagram feed. ❤️More
