Where do we begin? My mum and I were visiting New York for the first time. I booked a table here in June because we love steak! Gallaghers does not disappoint! Every aspect of our visit was perfect. The host was welcoming and found my...reservation straight away (I booked this in June for our stay especially). We were seated at our table and talked through the menu by our server, I can not remember his name. I apologise, but he was so attentive to us throughout our visit. We had lobster and shrimp cocktails to start, the porter house for two, bone marrow crust on the side, then ice cream profiteroles to end. Old fashioned cocktails, red wine, gin, and tonic too. The food was stunning, we just stopped speaking it was so good! It was also a silver service that blew my mind as iv never experienced that before. When you think of a classic NYC steakhouse, this is what should come to mind. From walking in next to the cooler of amazing cuts of meat to the full, dark interiors, Gallagher’s is perfect setting. George was our server, and it’s not an exaggeration...to say that he’s at the top of my list of best I’ve ever had. His recommendations were perfect, he was ahead of every need we had, and he provided the perfect charm. My wife and I started with the house-smoked bacon. It literally was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. I had the Rib Steak, and it was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Tender and lean, it was among the best cuts I’ve had. My wife had the grilled jumbo shrimp and love its flavor. We shared the hash browns and roasted corn, and there was more than enough to go around. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. The corn was great, too, and straight off the cob. They had an extensive dessert menu, and we finished with the best crème brûlée. Please do yourself a favor next time your in Times Square and go a couple of blocks to Gallagher’s. You won’t be disappointed. And ask for George!More

The best meal of our trip. Brilliant food, excellent service and great dessert. The meat was amazing ! Our server truly took care of us and all our requests . Our two children also enjoyed it. Went here for the lunch special ($32 for three courses). Had the Filet Mignon and it did not disappoint! My son didn't want the set meal so had a burger, it was huge. He then had the biggest piece of chocolate cake I've ever seen!...Very lively and busy, good service and great valueMore

Had an AMAZING dinner here on Friday early evening, pre-theater, with my husband and my parents. Everything was EXCEPTIONAL from the hosts, waiter, support staff, and managers. The venue is quite large and deceptive from the street or windows. Once inside, the back area opens...up to a large square bar with plenty of stools, then to a spacious back dining room with high beamed ceilings, tables in the middle, banquet seating along the walls, and a large open, windowed kitchen. The ambiance was elegant, warm, and lovely. Our waiters were professional, prompt, & personable. The food was the BEST we've had! Honestly the steak tartar was perfection, as was the lump crab cake with plenty of crab and not so bready like other places. My hubby & I had the porterhouse which was INCREDIBLE and my parents had the filet mignon and salmon, both of which were superb. During dinner, 2 managers separately came to check in on us which is always a great sign of a restaurant that cares. I HIGHLY recommend a WONDERFUL dining experience here and I look forward to going again soon! You won't be disappointed!!!More

I will quote my son: the best steak I ever ate. Location classy although a bit noisy. But you really come here for meat, which is truly delicious. Desserts were extremely good as well. Price is adequate for this kind of food in downtown Manhattan

Service was a bit slow. Steak and sides were good. It wasn’t an outstanding meal or experience but it was good.

Let’s be real… it is pricy… BUT… it is the place you remember after 35 years as a place to eat the best steak ever. And that promise comes to life in this restaurant. And the total experience adds up to it: - Experience the...atmosphere of New York - Great and friendly staff - Nice selection of food and wine - … oh… did I mention the great steaks? We had Oysters and Lobster/Prawn dumplings (yes, with lobster in it :-) ) and then Steak with backed potato and brussel sprouts as side! All of it was delicious. Their wine list extensive (however extra pricy) and also their malt whisky’s. I am an Islay Whisky fan and I could even choose from several different one’s (and they turned out to be not that expensive). All and all: if you want to taste and experience New York, GO THERE!More
