Family Meal at Blue Hill in New York City was one of the most amazing restaurants I have ever visited. Everything was farm to table except a special flour from Spain used in the bread. Course after course came out and each one was delightful....Each one used seasonal vegetables and fruits. One course actually had fish prepared two different ways. The service was exceptional. There was a full bar, great wine list and specialty cocktails. There is no menu, you eat what is fresh for the day. My two year old granddaughter was with us, and they offered to warm some milk for her! There was so much food, but no take out bags were needed. We ate every bite. Truly, the chef is an artisan and I will eat here again when visiting New York City.More

Huge fan of Family Meal at Blue Hill. I was afraid to be disappointed because I was blown away by the Tarrytown location, but the Blue Hill in the city was amazing as well. I love the family meal, menu-less concept, and I was pleasantly...surprised. Several shared plates per each of the 4 courses were presented using the freshest of ingredients. There wasn't a single dish I didn't like. I particularly enjoyed the day's bread course and chicken main plate. Service is was on point as well.More

So admittedly, it is impossible to select wines as you are unclear what y you are eating. But you are offered a wine pairing. Random plates were brought out. The food was mostly great. But the wine pairings were not great and were a very...poor value. $95 for 5 half glasses of wine is a lot for young, bad wines. The wine pairings really hindered the evening.More

Family table at Blue Hill was a great experience! Some really unique dishes that all felt healthy but so flavoursome. Definitely recommend but comes with the NYC price tag as expected

I had been to this restaurant before Covid and wanted to go back since I had liked it a lot. They have changed the format. It is now Family meal at Blue Hill and they do not offer menus. I remember the last time they...had the Farmer's feast menu which was excellent, lots of flavorful vegetable entrees. Now basically everyone eats the same menu, and as the waiter said it is whatever the farm has fresh. It sounded great and I got excited. Our first plate was spinach and chips followed by deep fried zucchini flower. The zucchini flower was so crispy, unbelievably delicious. The waiter said that they used rice flour to make it gluten free and thats why it was so crispy. The next 2 entrees were crudo, and ceviche type seafood. I eat seafood but not raw at all! I do not eat sashimi, ceviche etc... In general I avoid sushi restaurants. How does the fish and the scallop fall under the category of fresh from the farm? Let's say I was not happy at all. The rest of my group ate the raw seafood and then we had a meat entree which was very tender and delicious. Their wine list was interesting and different. I had a wine by the glass, it was ok, had a fizz to it. The dessert was ok as well. Everyone in our group missed the Old Blue Farm Hill. Apart from the fried Zucchini flour, I do not see a reason to go back.More

I love to cook. Not terribly fancy; but, robust, flavorful and generally healthy foods. It’s likely because I started cooking around 5. I learned how to make chocolate soufflé to start - the secret is to make sure the egg whites are whipped until they...have peaks, kinda like a rough sea. Skipping all the way to the present day, I happened on a series about restaurants and saw this episode about Dan Barber & Blue Hill. His story resonated so much that I made a reservation and went to NYC to experience “Family Meal”. The cooked & raw fighter spinach was flavorful and intense. The scallops and local fluke fresh and dynamic. I chose the wine pairing and was delighted by the excellent bar tender, especially his knowledge and passion for the restaurant. Black bass was balanced. Then the parade of preserved vegetables. So very unique. The presentation was wonderful. When the flatbread arrived with butter, pesto, onion jam and ricotta, it was delightful. Vibrant. Getting to the grass fed beef was like reaching the summit. The side carrots fresh with ginger and turmeric. Forgot. On my plane up to NYC was a lovely elderly couple. As we deplaned, I asked where they were eating? They replied “Blue Hill”!? I saw them arrive. The experience is so worth it. The food impresses. The staff and ambience are perfect. Cannot recommend Blue Hill enough - 6 stars! The lovely coupled told me the same.More

Good restaurant but not quite Michelin quality. We visited last in 2015 and the quality and service was better. Long wait for water..15 min. No one came to check on us. I liked the tasting menu better.

I was delighted to finally make it to Blue Hill, a restaurant that had been on my must try for several years. It exceeded my expectations on all levels. Hands down, my favorite fine dining experience in NYC. The hospitality, food, and ambiance are exceptional....They treat you like family and feed you gastronomic delights. It is well worth every dime you spend. I cannot wait to return.More

Not only was the food innovative and insanely delicious, the service was just low key and real. The food (wow, the pork was beyond any description I can muster) was presented family style and casual -- but what you are actually eating is anything but....I had a habanero whose capsaicin was engineered out, and only sweetness remained. But it's not gimmicky and there's no molecular theater -- the best way to describe it is down home high dining, as oxymoronic as that sounds.. The environment is dim and cozy, like you're part of an exclusive back room supper club.More

a special place to go on a special day, the vegetarian menu was extremely good, a real farm to table experience we will always cherish. both the vegetarian menus were superb. the only thing we didnt enjoy was the carrot steak, was a bit bland...for us and the carrot bit mushy we were looking forward to this experience for a while and are happy it happened.More

Visited with a group of friends, had to book reservatión like 90 days before, we did it at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, gorgeous place about 50 miles drive from NYC. It was an unforgetable experience of excelent taste, I guess we had about 33...diferent courses, Cheffs menu, we had the most different tastes we have ever had in a restaurant. Every thing from the farm to your plate served each by a different cheff and a different story about the dish we were having, a once in a time delightfull experience, costly but worth it. The meal took us about 3.5 hoursMore

Possibly the most delicious meal I've ever had. It's rare to find food that is so beautifully presented where each bite is also SO tasty. The portions are delicate - I've seen other people say this as a negative, but if you are enjoying a...multiple course tasting menu, I liked being able to try lots of different things without being uncomfortably full at the end. All the courses were original and surprising. The farm-to-table element is really evident. Service is also five star. Ambience is nice and relaxed, not overly stuffy considering that it's fine dining. It's very expensive but worth it for the quality of the food.More
