Nice place and interesting menu. Little bit too quiet and stiff for my taste. Food and service was good but I felt stuffed after... they use lots of cashews.

Great food and service! We had pasta and it was really really good! The environment is comfortable with nice atmosphere.

This place was easy to find and get to via public transportation (I took the bus across Central Park). The service was a little inconsistent to start - after receiving water right away I wasn't greeted by my server for about 8-10 minutes. From there,...More

Cozy, very friendly staff and considering that everything on the list is vegan, absolutely five stars. We need more restaurants like this! P.S. Spaghetti & wheat balls was delicious.

We enjoyed our lunch at candle 79. They were many options for our vegan family. The vegan hamburger was amazing. The pasta was delicious. Couple of the other dishes were OK – nothing special.

To conclude a fabulous vacation, reserved a table for 2 Brit guests at this massively overrated vegan “joint”. One guest has a walking stick, due to three recently fused spinal bones but we were nevertheless forced to climb a steep flight of stairs, all the...More

Visited for the second time today and had the same impression as my first time. The food is good, but it is more expensive and has a smaller menu than their Candle Cafe just a few blocks southeast from here. They do cauliflower REALLY well.

We used to enjoy this restaurant in the past: the food was exquisite, the service was perfect, the waiters knew the menue and gave good suugesions about the dishes. And on top of this, the price was fair. However there are big changes: the food...More

On the surface Candle 79 is a typical well-established and well run NYC restaurant offering a comfortable environemnt in which to eat. What sets it apart is its focus on delivering interesting vegan dishes. Amongst other things we enjoyed the following: Empanadas, Daily pasta, Wild...More

The worst restaurant I’ve been in NYC. Bad service, unedible food. Pasta was overcooked, floating in a muddy sauce. You can’t ask for a change in a dish. If you don’t want soy sauce you can’t eat half of the menu. Avoid it by all...More

I cannot say for certain if this restaurant has a dress code. I'd call and ask. As a general rule, this is New York City, not Miami or LA. People in New York, generally speaking, get dressed at least business casual, for... More
