The real deal. If you’re looking for authentic homecooked food and a warm atmosphere, this is the place for you. My husband and I have lived nearby for about 8 years and this is one of our go-to spots. I usually get chile rellenos and...my husband gets enchiladas with spinach (no dairy for him, they’re accommodating). We used to get the egg or cheese tortas quite often as well. Great chips and salsa. Selection of beer and they can make margaritas too. The nicest people and one of the best local spots around.More

Yesterday at 5:45 pm we called the restaurant to order pick-up. We told them that we will be there a 6:30, so please don't prepare the order just yet. We ordered a plain nacho, a giant burrito with carnitas, one taco with carnitas and one...with stake. When we got home (three blocks from the restaurant) everything was cold. The nacho consisted of a thin layer of soggy chips, three or four spoonful of right out of the can black beans, a couple of spoonful of diced tomatoes, lots of wilted lettuce and and some crumbled cheese on top (not melted ). Cold. So we tried the giant burrito. It was giant alright . I giant blub of rice, a couple of spoonful of the ,same black beans, maybe a half dozen tiny piece of pork (definitely not pulled pork), almost undetectable amount of cheese, and lots of lettuce. No sour cream, no salsa. There were some containers of some liquid included with the order but neither a consistency nor the taste would pass for salsa. The tacos were edible, but far from tasty. So, that much about the food. Then.... Covid preparedness .... When we arrived there were two men at the counter. One had a mask on properly, the other had it on his chin. My husband asked him to put the mask on. He seemed incredulous at the request, but complied. While we were paying , one of the kitchen workers came out, set down about two feet from us to have dinner. Very unsafe. I am wondering if what we got for our $40+ bucks were a lousy dinner with some Covid on the side. One thing for sure, we'll never go back there.More

Warm, wonderful Jorge hails from Geurrero, Mexico. It's tough to get good authentic Mexican fare in this city, but I can always count on a great meal at his intimate restaurant on the UWS. I love the garlic tillapia frito entero. But his chille relleno...is outsdanding as well. I no longer live in the neighborhood but love to come visit him whenever I'm back.More

Stopped by on spur of the moment and extremely glad we did! There after lunch rush so were able to sit at a table. Lots of choices but finally ordered 2 tacos each. They were fantastic - steak and pork carnitas! Excellent service and very...friendly staff. They were doing a huge takeout business too. Very reasonably priced!More

Good tasting tacos to take home. This is not a place where you sit down, as it is too small, even though there are a couple of tables. We received some extra salsa with our order for free, which was a nice gesture.

With no reservations after Columbia University graduation, the grad suggested we head to this neighborhood restaurant on Amsterdam Ave. Service was above and beyond, tequila was extra strong in the margaritas and the food was outstanding. Small and busy and worth a visit.

Don't let the rather shabby interior at this hole in the wall restaurant put you off. The food is delicious, the portions ample, and the prices are reasonable. I loved their salsa. Service is friendly, if a bit informal (which doesn't bother me a bit)....From the number of bags of take-out waiting to be picked up it was evident that this is a popular spot, and conversations overheard ("I come here all the time") indicate that in spite of its appearance, this is an excellent choice for a meal. (Note: I only give 5 stars to once in a lifetime dining experiences, but 4 stars for good food that merits a return visit.)More

Tiny place with just a few tables and a serious take-out situation. I recommend eating there though because of the amazing fresh chips they provide at every table with their delicious salsas & sauces. I've eaten a bunch of different things - quesadillas, burritos, tacos.....but I love the mole enchiladas the best. Everything is super fresh and made with love. Also, extremely good value here.More

I always come to this restaurant and it never disappoints. My food is always fresh and the staff is just beyond friendly, makes me feel very comfortable. I always get the tacos or burritos. The burrito is HUGE ! Legit makes the table shake when...it is served. Worth the money! The tacos are so good and juicy. It's worth a try.More

Had been here once before and as I remembered the food was great. Delicious authentic and American style Mexican food. A bit rushed at the end of the meal, but they only have a few tables and a big line so it makes sense.
