Stopped for lunch on our way to the airport. We are so glad we did. The food was amazing! And the atmosphere great. Nice gift store for last minute finds. We had the Caesar Salad with Blackened Mahi Mahi. And the Sauteed Mahi Mahi. Both...were cooked perfectly and very large portions. Good service as well. Worth the stop.More
having prime rib at bar food was very slow to come and only thing hot on the plate is the mash potatoes very disappointing appy crab cakes where delicious just waiting on my cheesecake now
I love this cafe, always have. The Pastulas have done such great restaurants on Maui, for many years. This is in the main building of the Maui Tropical Plantation, and is open every day except Mondays. When I went in November, I had the classic...mac nut crusted chicken sandwich on their homemade focaccia. When they ran the restaurant at the Dunes Golf Course, this was a signature item-and it is as good as ever. It's quite large-I could only eat half! The other half made a perfect lunch the next day. We sat at the bar, and had excellent service in all respects. Not too pushy, but "keeping track" was the vibe. We did indulge in an order of the pork buns to start--very tasty and lots of meant on the pork belly, not all fat like some places.More
We enjoyed Brunch at the Cafe OLei this Sunday . I phoned for a reservation. We all enjoyed our meals. I loved the French Onion Soup and the Mahi mahi was good. We were offered the Brunch -lunch menu. Good service and will return ASAP....Great garden setting , nice veggie farmers market and good gifts.More
This was on my short list of restaurants to try in Maui. After the informative farm tour we stopped in for lunch. One mistake, one home run. I ordered the onion soup with puff pastry on the top. That was a home run. Maui onions...carmelized in a not to salty broth complete with cheese under the dome of puff pastry. Normally these are served blazing hot. This one was edible right away which was perfect. I followed that up with the fried pork belly. I've had pork belly before. This one was bland. Light coating left a satisfying crunch, but (in my opinion) the fat flavor overwhelmed this dish. I know pork belly is fat forward and I also know fat is flavor. However, this was like a fish dish that is too fishy tasting. It was my mistake for ordering it. With so many other home run dishes on the menu I wish I would have picked better.More
The food, the service, the scenery and prices are excellent. Can’t say enough good things about it. It has now become our go-to place to take guests when they come to the island.
Please note that this restaurant is now called Cafe O'lei at the Plantation. It is located about 20 minutes away from Kihei on Hwy 30 on the grounds of the Maui Tropical Plantation. This is a highly popular restaurant for a reason. You will find...good locally inspired food, great cocktails and a beautiful environment. The dining room will be filled with local families celebrating a special occasion, friends dining out, and tourists enjoying the local cuisine. We started our meal with delicious butter lettuce wraps that each person can fill with a ground chicken and vegetable stir-fy. A tasty "Hawaii taco" that some people eat as a main course. My wife 'went retro' and order a huge prime rib of beef that was served with potatoes, bok choy, and a oven baked pop-over. It was big enough to provide leftovers for the next day. My 'huli huli style" chicken was made from two slow roasted chicken thighs coated with a sweet teriyaki sauce. My sweet-sour vegetable salad and the bok choy were excellent. The big surprise was a fantastic 'peppa-water' martini that my wife ordered. Simultaneously hot, fruity, and alcoholic, it was so good that we ordered another round. This restaurant is a bit of a drive from Kihei but well worth the trip. Reservations are definitely recommended.More
No reservations so ate at the bar - a wise choice as quieter and the bartender was exceptional with his service. He cleaned the wine glasses of any spots - very few even look at them these days. He also took good care of those...at the bar as well as mixing drinks for the main dining area. Food came fast and was extremely good. We shared a french onion soup - a must get, crab cakes that were out of this world and a beef dip . Will be back.More
While in Maui we had a fantastic lunch at the Tropical Plantation Restaurant. Has one of the best views of West Maui and gorgeous property grounds and a restaurant with staff that will take care of your every need. We had a mac nut chicken...sandwich on a focaccia roll with a side salad. Dessert was malasadas with 3 dipping sauces. Soooo good!!More
We booked a tour and zipline at the plantation. This restaurant is at the same location. Beautiful scenery. I suggest going here after your tour but be sure to make a reservation. Food and service were excellent. The onion soup is a must. It was...exceptional.More
Lovely location of old suger cane plantation. Lots of shops around too. Kala was our server and he was exceptional….. split the crab/avocado sandwich with cesear salad.
This was our first visit to this restaurant in two years and it was lovely. It was easy to make a reservation and we were seated promptly with a beautiful view of the mountains. Our server was a true professional, I believe his name is...Jonathan. Very friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Our food was extremely tasty and we enjoyed our meals and beverages. Overall, a spectacular experience. Be sure to ask for a table with a view.More
The setting is beautiful and the food and service was wonderful. My husband and I shared the Whole Friend Red Tai Snapper and it was amazing!!! We also added the Brussels from the appetizer menu, if you like Brussels you have to try these, they...were amazing. Jonathan was our server and he was fantastic. He very friendly, knowledgable with just the right amount of attentiveness.More
Dinner was fabulous! Jonathan and the other service members were on the spot with anything we requested. The brussel sprouts were wonderfully flavored with a pepper honey garlic sauce that melded with the sprouts. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, the tempura asparagus was fabulous, and...the truffle mashed potatoes very tasty. The Huli Huli chicken was the best I've had on island yet. The accompanying rice was almost a fried rice which I love. Our drinks (hibiscus margarita and a smoked old fashioned) were perfectly mixed and matched the food well. Dessert of lilikoi cheesecake and the kona coffee mudpie were perfect enders with coffee and the coffee martini. The ambiance of the open air patio and (for us) a perfect temperature just added to the perfection. Truly well worth going to at least once.More
