We met a local who told us this was a must try since we wanted ice cream. It’s really tiny, tucked into the Princeville shopping center. There is literally only room for about 4 customers at a time and it is set up just like an old school ice cream shop. You can see the selection through the glass and they give free samples of whatever you want before you purchase.
There are about 16 different varieties of ice cream and it seemed like there was something for everyone. From traditional favorites like Mint Chip and Vanilla Bean to sorbets and fun island flavors like coconut pineapple, mango, and Kauai cookie, I had a tough time deciding! But don’t worry, there is a 5 scoop sampler if you can’t decide or just want to try a bunch of flavors with friends and family. They also have either a waffle cone or chocolate dipped options. I got the macadamia nut in a cup, simple and delicious on a hot day. It was silly smooth with full sized macadamia nuts. So so good! My daughter got the Oreo chocolate cookie crunch in a waffle cone and she loved it. It was way too sweet for me, extra decadent with chocolate ice cream and huge chunks of Oreo. But dang was the waffle cone good! So delicate and flaky, yet it held up well while she enjoyed the ice cream.
I did see someone get iced coffee, but can’t comment on that. We stopped at Outpost Coffee (I will write my review on our visit there soon!) just up the road for coffee beforehand. Overall this quaint little ice cream shop is worth the stop and the perfect treat on a hot day! I highly recommend it!!

The Lappert’s story is a great one, lacking the ability to find decent ice cream in Hawaii the Lappert family created their own ice cream. A little while later lacking the ability to find a decent cup of coffee they did the same! It was too hot for coffee when we visited, but darn the ice cream was good, in fact a few in our group visited twice! All locally made and with many Hawaiian type flavors Lappert’s wins all around for not only great ice cream but also great customer service. The coffee flavor of course featured Hawaiian grown coffee and the vanilla bean flavor was infused with vanilla bean grown in Hawaii. Great for shakes, sundaes, cones and dishes Lappert’s will not disappoint!

I was able to enjoy this ice cream at two different restaurants during our visit on Kauai. But I had to go directly to the ice cream shop before leaving. The flavors are inventive and they are made in house so sometimes the flavor might be missing. Highly recommend anything with coconut and macadamia nuts. The Kauai pie ice cream is delicious as is, the Java ice cream. Highly recommend!

Very rude girl working there today. She needs a lesson on providing customer service. No greeting when we arrived, didn’t ask what we’d like to order, rudely pointed to the menu when I had a question, and didn’t apologize when they were out of menu item.

The ice cream was well made and great tasting but the service was just terrible! One day when I went I asked the lady for an iced latte and she gave me an iced coffee instead of and iced latte. I just really think that she didn’t want to be there. She was just rude and moody. Even when there were two of them, at least one of them was very unfriendly. Maybe they are short staffed and overworked, but I am sure 90% of their customers are tourists ( which are the main providers for their jobs…).

Very tasty treat. The caramel coconut Mac nut ice creaM is that tropical flavor you can’t miss! Popui service impeccable -Princeville location hit or miss on service which was sad but it is what it is. The ice cream is still delish

We went for ice cream after dinner. Glad we did. We loved the flavors- kona coffee and chocolate. The ice cream was rich, flavorful and not too sweet. Waffle cones were fresh and crisp. Staff was pleasant and efficient. A great place to enjoy good ice cream at the Princeville Shopping Center.

There be dragon(s) here.
Stopped by for ice cream for the family (caramel macadamia was the winner) but the shorter team member tonight (Feb 4th) was on the warpath. A (potential) customer who didn't have her glasses was trying to read the menu from outside and struggling (menu was on far wall inside).
There were no outside menus, so she was using her phone zoom to read the sign boards. The Dragon must be in witness protection or something as she came over waving and shrieking about not taking her picture (misunderstanding what was happening, but using the aggressive "shoot first, ask questions later" approach).
The potential customer left after being screamed at by the Dragon likely never to return again, and the Dragon's general conduct continued (directed impatiently at the taller colleague). Definitely put a damper on the experience and the way the Dragon was generally acting I got the sense this wasn't unusual.
At least the ice cream was good.

Sure, you're right next to Foodland and it's HOT and you LOVE the idea of ice cream.
To quote a recent review: "Surely server. Bored. Rolling her eyes when answering questions. Acted like she was doing us a favor. The signature flavor looked tasty. Expensive half frozen ice cream" Could not have said it better myself, except if you don't accept any of the add-ons (waffle cone? sprinkles?) the surliness just gets worse.

It was rainy during our last visit visit to the island, so we had time to indulge in a variety of sweet treats. This was a favorite for sure. The macadamia nut ice cream was out of this world. Plenty of flavors for adults and kids to choose from.

Very delicious ice cream. Nice "local" flavors as well - a lot use macadamia nuts in the ice cream. On the pricey side, but what isn't in Hawaii. Definitely tasted delicious after a long day of hiking! Lots of seating around the shopping center to enjoy the ice cream.

We've had a lot of ice cream on our travels and locally. (Van Leeuwen began with one truck in our home town). Even reading all the good reviews, we were skeptical, but Lapperts did not disappoint. In fact, we liked it so much, we went 3 times! The flavors are interesting, but not weird. The ice cream quality (flavor, creaminess...) was spot on. We especially loved the flavors that included mac nuts. Kauai Pie flavor was a big hit.

Tiny place near the horrid Foodland. They were out of lots of flavors but still had the dairy free sorbet with passion fruit. Very nice flavor in a tiny portion. Would go back for it again.

Luscious home made ice cream. Favorite is the Kauai Pie, a wondrous concoction of coffee ice cream, nuts, chocolates, caramel and much more. Yummy for the tummy!

Cute locations. I liked that they also served coffee. They had some really unusual flavors. Ice cream was well made and flavorful. We liked the Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel a lot. And, the Kauai Pie. I was not a fan of the macadamia nut ice cream. I think the nuts get soggy in the ice cream which makes the texture a little weird.
