Great steak and great meal!!

New year's eve dinner here with my wife and friends from our marina to enjoy a nice dinner while visiting Milwaukee. My rib eye was cooked perfectly (med rare), service was very attentive. We had a few drinks in the bar before (we arrived a bit early) and the atmosphere was really nice. Great old fashioned from the bartender. Sorry I forgot his name otherwise I'd give him his props. If you're thinking about dining here, go for it. Music was nice as a background without being obtrusive.

It's been a few years since we have been here so got last minute reservations on a busy night downtown before a Buck's game. We were seated in the bar room, which was just fine with me. Our servers were excellent and professional, yet casual and made us feel comfortable. Nice wine menu, even by the glass. The complimentary bread was warm and soft, and seconds were accepted when she offered. We shared a French Onion, which was just as good as we remembered. Our entree's came with a side salad, cold and fresh. Hubby had the bone in ribeye which he said was spot on with flavor. One of his best. A little fatty and grisly in areas was the only downfall. My 4 oz filet was perfectly done and tender, barely needed a knife. I combined it with two bacon wrapped scallops, also amazing. We chose the cream corn and twice baked potato as our sides and we just didn't have the room to finish. So much good food. I even thought my 4oz filet was so tiny on the plate when they brought it, glad I didn't size up. We did feel that for the area, the prices were a bit on the high side. We travel a lot and see prices like this quite often, and have no problem paying them, but felt for Milwaukee it was a bit up there. However, everything was excellent and worth it for a special ocassion or a "once in a while" visit.

Great Dining Experience for Our Last Night in Milwaukee!

The quality of service, food, and drink options provided at Mo's A Place For Steaks is top notch. As soon as we arrived, everyone greeted us and were extremely polite. We asked to be sat in the second floor, and it definitely turned out to be better than the first floor. The second floor seems to be more quiet, peaceful, especially for a romantic dinner. Our waitress and assistant went above and beyond to provide an excellent dining experience. We ordered the 20 oz. ribeye steak (we were able to split it between both of us), the pepper jack mac & cheese, mushrooms, cucumber and French martinis. Every single bite and sip was to die for and were more than satisfied with these two options. Finally, the Keebler cookie with ice cream on top was really worth it and shareable with two or more. I highly recommend that you make reservations in advance and secure a seat on the second floor. The prices for this steakhouse are more than fair and definitely worth it. Great experience overall and will definitely make sure to come back!

Average food, average service, overpriced.

We went there this past Saturday night for dinner. HIGHLY recommend using their valet service, extremely worth it. We were seated in the lounge area so we had TVs and loud bar groups taking away from the romantic date night experience. We had two waitresses and they were very pleasant and nice but not very accurate. We placed our order and they brought out some bread. My husband asked for me if they had any gluten free bread, she said she would check and never came back with an answer. I ordered a 4oz filet, a sauce to go with the steak, crab legs and a baked potato. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked and tasted good, but they forgot the steak sauce, and the butter for the potato. She came back with the steak sauce and I had to ask again for butter for the potato. The crab legs were just ok. They got cold instantly because they were cut open the long way and served as halves. The food was just good and the service was just average, which is fine but you can't charge those prices for an average experience.

Excellent service but Covid restrictions may be resulting in quality compromises

Our party of four was greeted and seated immediately, even without reservations, which we appreciated. Our salads seemed straight from a bag with a couple cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices to garnish. Those in our group who ordered salmon were very happy with their choice. The New York strips, not so much. They were large and were cooked to order but they lacked flavor and the were choice, not prime, with a substantial gristle edge. We were glad we ordered a side of mushrooms to boost the steaks a bit. We agreed, for the $$ spent, we would dine elsewhere in the future.

Clearly Covid Compromised

The drinks were very good and they made a special chocolate chip cookie dessert for us. The service was very good as well. The French onion soup was one of the best I've ever had. The sea scallop app was good, the meatball app so-so. The steaks were small, only 1" thick, and lacked flavor. The white cheddar mashed potatoes were ho-hum, as was the pepper jack mac. The twice baked potato was very good, as was the salmon. It is clear that due to rising costs amid arbitrary restrictions placed on them by the City of Milwaukee, they have compromised on quality due to rising costs/reduced revenue. And they made us don masks when taking a 15' walk to our table where we passed by zero other patrons. Absurd lack of common sense. Don't hassle customers like that.

Lovely Spot, Great Food

On a previous visit I have Mo's 4 stars due to some lackluster side dishes. This time, however, all was great. The place was packed on a Thursday evening at summer's end but our service was very good. Cocktails were delicious as was the crab cake starter and my wife's wedge salad. The French Onion soup was good but not a standout. But our steaks were perfectly seasoned and grilled and this time our sides were all good including an amazing twice-baked potato and the creamed spinach. The mushrooms were good although for a steakhouse I would expect maybe a variety of mushrooms and not just the button mushrooms we got. And the small mountain of haystack onions we got could have fed a family of four for a week! Thankfully as it was our last night in Milwaukee we were able to bring the leftovers back to the hotel and then home the next day. As happened last time we were here, so again just as we were thinking maybe we were too full for dessert, a complimentary platter of desserts arrived and we polished them off quite handily! All very good. This is a fun downtown steakhouse with very fine food. The tables were fairly close to each other and the servers did not wear masks so if one had significant COVID concerns, then this might be an uncomfortable place until things ease up. But we enjoyed a great meal on our last night of vacation.

It was MO than I'd expected.

I came here on a chilly evening after a tiring 9.5 hour drive, wearing a T-shirt, jeans and a bomber jacket. After the staff looked me over curiously, I was placed at a single table in a dark corner. The wait staff was attentive and friendly however. And the meal was superb, albeit pricey. My 4 oz filet mignon, huge baked potato, salad, bread plate with cajun and salt-free butter and cabernet sauvignon came to $78 with a generous tip. It was more than I'd planned to spend on dinner, but it was totally satisfying. Bravo to Mo's.

Went in Thinking this Would be Good....Left Thinking What an Unbelievable Experience

We decided to step it up for our anniversary, so it was really cool, that after we were seated, printed right on the menu was "Happy Anniversary" very classy and told to take one home. Instead of ordering a traditional appetizer we chose the 4oz Wagyu Beef, so tender and full of flavor. For our main course we ordered two things. One Blackened Chilean Sea Bass. The flavor was out of this world! The other main course we got was the filet with bacon wrapped scallops. I like steak, but hands down this was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life. You could cut it with a butter knife, and oh how I did not want this meal to end. For sides we got the brussel sprouts and creamed spinach. I definitely recommend if it is just two of you, to ask for 1/2 orders of the sides....it is plenty! And finally....our server Mo, was top notch! Knew the menu inside and out, and was so pleasant and excited to be a part of our celebration. Skip the chains....go local and celebrate at Mo's!

This is a delayed review but I had to do it because it was phenomenal- From the service to the food to the ambience. We’ve eaten here before and it’s always been great but it was next level with Team 1 serving us. Grey Goose martinis, Korbel old fashions and Starburst martinis were all made to perfection. All our food came as ordered and pricing was as expected for downtown but worth it. If you are looking for a place for a special night, this is the place to go…so do it!

Great service - super attentive and personable. Great food! We had shrimp cocktail and the homemade cocktail sauce was so good and super spicy for my Minnesota palate! We also ordered two filets one with blue cheese and horseradish topping and one with bacon wrapped scallops. Steaks and scallops were cooked perfectly and the topping was good. They brought us a cookie dessert as we were celebrating and holy smokes that was delicious! Glad they had valet parking. A really lovely evening!

Johnny’s mom would be very disappointed with her name on this restaurant

Johnny’s Mother MO would not be proud of this night. We made a reservation for four people. These are business acquaintances that have come and surprised us from out of town. They have been close business partners for over 30 years and wanted steak. I thought Best place downtown. Let’s go to Moe‘s. I went there since it’s been open and was there the first week it opened when Johnny Vassalo ran it. it changed ownership and still maintained a very significant quality of excellence. I don’t know what happened now the food was cold. I don’t mean tepid I don’t mean warm it was cold. When we ordered one of the options in the appetizer list was a six pack for the kitchen I selected it and sent it in. I don’t know what they did with it, but this was just a horrible experience, embarrassing. Disappointing, and regardless, whether they eliminated charging me for this Prime ribeye and bought me a round of drinks. I am not that guy I don’t want anything for free. I have no problem paying for the Best and I told him that I don’t clip coupons and I don’t look for stuff on sale. My expectation is I’ll pay you top dollar but I expect top-level service and product. Don’t waste your time here. Staff was fantastic. They were sweet young ladies. That took care of our table. Very pleasant. Extremely apologetic. Too little too late kids. I’m not going back.

Still a wonderful treat!

MO’s never fails to excel on all levels….from the wonderful wait staff to the superlative cuisine, Mo’s is the place for a special dining experience! My friend had a cup of the lobster bisque which she said was wonderful. I had a Caesar salad…excellent! We split the NY Strip which was more than enough for both, and we shared the Brussels sprouts with brown sugar and bacon. All was wonderful! A special shout out to our server, Mo! He was the quintessential server….professional, friendly and attentive without being overbearing!

Adrienne was absolutely amazing she went above and beyond. I was on vacation and went here for dinner and had the best service, i hope this review gets to management to recognize her amazing service and professionalism. i asked about cheese curds (since i am out of town and told to try them) and she said they did not have them there, on her own she went down the street and got me some ( who does that) it was very nice and refreshing to receive such nice amazing service. I run a car dealership in san diego and know a lot about service and sadly it is rare to get great service like that. i really wanted to recognize her for going out of her way and being so kind.

Major Disappointment after years and many visits impressing us

Remember when Mo’s delivered great service? Our waitress was waiting on 10 tables. I got better service last week at Outback. My medium well steak was burnt on the outside so every bite was tasting like charcoal. The steak had an unbelievable amount of gristle. The truffle potatoes were still great. Dessert was still great. I will look for a different restaurant after years of Mo’s impressing me after each dinner. MAJOR disappointment.
