there are some negative revues about this place but I found it interesting if you’re looking for something other than the standard hardies or chilis. Yes this place is a bit of a relic, opened in 1941, but these are the kind of establishments that...you should cherish. They are a throwback in time time when people were skinnier, when people didn’t expect a solo plate from buco-de-bepo to feed a family of 10 in india for a month, I digress. Yes, these were happier times, romanticized for sure, but burgers were smaller, you would get a shake sometimes without anything else. It was more of a snack than a buffet on a cruise ship. What am I saying? Don’t expect too much in todays standards. Picture yourself living in the “happy days” decade. One thing is for sure, I’ve never had a burger at a restaurant cooked on a charcoal grill, hand made to order. One of a kind. The bill is also very cheap, so enjoy before these kind of places are all gone.More

Interesting place we had to try. Walked in, and the place felt small, cozy, and trapped in time. Like a 50's soda shop. No BBQ, what we thought they would have. Instead, a small, simple menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bratwurst, and ham. The...food is cooked on a charcoal grill, and frankly, I've had better at outdoor backyard BBQs. But stop in for the experience. Order a milkshake at the counter and get taken back in time. Cheap eats, so I can't complain about a $15 meal for 2More

My third time dining here. The double cheeseburger (ordered plain) is in contention for best burger I've ever had. The perfect chargrill, unique bun, just a great flavor combo. The first time I ate here, I took one bite of my burger and immediately ordered...a second. Will never be in the area without stopping at Mickey-Lu.More

Very very small dinner, out of the 50's?? Stopped here for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Chose this due to ratings on trip advisor. A single cheeseburger was $3.25. Such a deal! (There is also the option of a double cheeseburger but I wouldn't...typically order that) The bun was toasted on the grill and had good flavor. I'm not a big meat eater, which was fine, because the patty was less than 1/4" thick. Was so thin I'm surprised it held together. Restaurant was clean, service was fast but left realizing I need something else to eat for the long drive home. I essentially ate a bun with condiments. Very limited menu, no fries, only a bag of chips, but offered handmade shake and malts. Had a small juke box, the atmosphere was authentic for a retro diner.More

My wife and I loved everything about this place. The atmosphere of a 1940s diner was everywhere. While we were looking for something Bar-B-Q, the staff kindly educated us on the fact that their Bar-B-Q was a method of cooking the food and not a...sauce. Oh, and they've not served french fries since they opened over 80 years ago. We sat at the counter to get a better view of the deliciousness they make. I ordered a double cheeseburger, my wife a single. I'm not typically a fan of brown mustard but the ketchup, mustard, pickles and onion was awesome. The bakery-style bun was the best. Prices very fair.More

The nostalgia of this place takes you back to a simpler time as you enjoy a true flame-grilled burger and a malt made with real ice cream, not soft serve. A real piece of history.

We were traveling through town and thought it would be a nice change to try some local BBQ food. To our surprise, BBQ meant food cooked like it was on a BBQ grill, not smoked. Nevertheless, it was still very tasty. Sitting in the restaurant...makes you feel as if you went about 50-70 years back in time. If you are traveling through town, it is worth stopping in.More

The receptionist at the hotel told us that this was a must do while I was in town, so one night I walked down the street to try them out. I did not go for BBQ, which turns out was a good thing because they...do not have BBQ, however they do have good burgers. I did not order a shake but watched as they made them for several other customers, and I was impressed. The burger patty was a little on the small size but for the price was a good deal. I did find out all the way on a burger means lots of ketchup, so I will know better when I go back. Next time I am in town plan on trying the shakes and the dogs.More

We stopped for gas and I asked the store clerk where to find a nice sit-down place to eat. She directed me to this place and said they had really good burgers. We went in and were seated at a tiny booth. The server took...our drink order and pointed to the menu board mounted on the wall. The selection was basically burgers, brats and hot dogs. You can only get ketchup, mustard, pickle and raw onion on any sandwiches. No mayo, lettuce, or tomato. The food came wrapped in paper - no plates. The food was okay but not very tasty. This place only accepts cash.More

I've passed by Mickey-Lu's several times coming back to Marquette from Chicago. Today my son and I finally stopped in for the first time. 1:00pm on a Sunday, the small place was packed with people. We were lucky enough to grab a two-chair table by...the door. Waitress came quickly, brought us water and took our order. We ordered a double cheeseburger each. It took about a half hour for our burgers to arrive. That was a long wait. They're tasty charbroiled burgers, but small and definitely expensive -- at $5.50 each -- for their small size. The two burger patties were really thin, not as thin as White Castle's, but very thin nonetheless. A person could easy eat two double burgers and not feel stuffed. I don't know. Mickey-Lu's is okay, not great. We'll probably stop here again someday while passing through.More

What is the appeal here? If this place was a startup today it would be closed by now. The only thing keeping the doors open is the nostalgia factor. I wish I would have read the reviews first. We have gone past this place on...the way to and from Green Bay many times but never stopped. Well we finally did and should have eaten at Culver's directly across the street. Think "White Castle" but much worse if that's possible. First off, if you're hankering for Bar-B-Que you are in the wrong place. No such thing here. Just hot dogs and something I cannot get myself to call a hamburger. The mystery "meat" is paper thin and it's in a really strange powdery bun. It's not much bigger than a White Castle but 4x the price. The server just throws it on the table in front of you in a paper wrapper. There are no sides to purchase at all other than chips. They do have malts which are $$$$ and come in what appears to be a 7 ounce glass. The dehydrated onions are the only thing that will stay with you for awhile after eating here! I usually don't give a one rating but this place rates just that. Small high priced portions and unpleasant staff in an old diner that has so much potential. If you read the one and two star reviews here it is a pretty accurate representation of this place....... I guess we can return to passing it by once again!More

At first I was drawn to Mikey Lou's BBQ thinking I would get traditional pulled pork BBQ. But no. As I entered the parking lot I could smell grilling vapors drawing me to the tiny retro diner. I entered Mikey Lou's to be taken back...in time to the 1970's! Tiny booths with an old time juke box, and spinning stools at the counter, complete with a clear case pie stack that held fresh baked pies! There is a limited menu of burgers, and dogs. No fries, but chips. The burgers were freshly grilled with real Wisconsin cheese dripping off the buns, topping a freshly grilled burger. The buns... they were bakery style deliciousness. The regular burger is $2.50. The double burger is $5. I'd rather have two regular burgers because the buns were SO GOOD for $5. This was a special treat and I would 100% stop here again for a special treat. The malt shake was delicious. Warning: the sizes of burgers and shakes are very small. Think 1970's portions!More

This is always a stop when passing through Marinette. The burgers are great and so are the Malts. But don’t miss out on a slice of pie too! Great stuff!
