So much to love!

My wife and I dined here recently and really enjoyed ourselves. It was upscale, without feeling that way if that makes any sense. It was very cozy inside and very welcoming. We thought the atmosphere was very relaxing and quaint. The server was very friendly and attentive and gave us great recommendations. We tried various mixed drinks and they were all good. I had a whiskey sour and it was one of the best I've ever had (hard to mess up but you would be surprised!). We watched the bar tender fixing whiskey old fashioneds and they looked very good! Just what you would expect in Wisconsin. I ordered a starter of East Coast Oysters and was pleasantly surprised. They came with 3 different sauces that were all very tasty! My wife ordered the vegetable ravioli, and I ordered the filet mignon and we were very impressed. Everything was so delicious. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection and so tender and juicy. Even the vegetables had so much flavor. I'm not even a huge fan of cauliflower, but it had so much flavor! The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. We will definitely be coming back here soon. I felt that the price of the food and drinks was great for the quality of everything. Such a nice experience.

Great lunch

We came here for lunch, we have been to the Bailey’s Harbor location several times and each time we enjoyed our meal so was excited to try this location. Did not disappoint. I had the open faced ribeye sandwich which was perfectly cooked and seasoned and quite a large portion. With the salad as my side, the salad was huge and could have been an entree all on it’s own. My husband had the pork which was a bit disappointing, it just did not taste good and was overly salted. However the brussel sprouts and potatoes which came with the entree were very good. Prices are decent for quality of food. Service was a bit slow, however they were quite busy for a weekday lunch time, maybe they thought there would be fewer people. All in all a very good experience and I would recommend.

good food and atmosphere, as well as being part of the Green Bay Packers' scene

I was in town for the Packers vs. Seahawks game and had asked about local Packers hangouts. Someone told me that some of the Packers, including Aaron Rodgers, come here for dinner (and that some of the players live in Suamico, which is the town where the restaurant is located). I, unfortunately, did not run into any of the Packers while I was there (I was there for lunch, as you apparently need reservations for dinner and they were fully booked up for Saturday night), but still enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I ordered The Bistro and cream of mushroom soup. Both were delicious. The restaurant is in an old house, which is a nice touch. There is also seating available at the bar. The waitresses were friendly, so I asked them about the football team and if they had any funny stories (they did). All in all, a very nice place to eat.

I was just okay

I stopped here after landing in Green Bay based on reviews seen here. I thought it was just okay. The service was really great (Yuri was awesome). Our old fashion drinks were very watered downed. My husband got the fish and chips and maybe this is just preference but they were heavily breaded where it is more batter than fish. Also, usually places on the Great Lakes use whitefish and not cod, again personal preference. I got the rib eye sandwich and it was incredibly tough and not to bite through as a sandwich. Not terrible, everything was just okay.

New Experience

Went there with some friends who live in the area. It’s a great location and quaint space inside. It does get a little loud when at full capacity. Waiter was excellent (Yuri, I believe). Service was fast and food was delivered in good time. I had the Caesar salad starter which was very good. I selected the lemon chicken because I love those two together. Unfortunately, it had no lemon flavor at all. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly but lacked the lemon I was looking forward to. The vegetables that accompanied the chicken were also some of my favorites but were so salty I could not eat them (as were the potatoes). I usually have the opposite problem when eating out....lack of salt but this was inedible (for me personally). My husband had the Parmesan encrusted cod and his was also too salty. Those are my reasons for the 3 vote. Love the area and would love to try some other restaurants and even give Chives another try.

A little disappointing

Thursday we when to Chives to celebrate a friend's BD. 7 of us, no problem with separate checks. Waitstaff was excellent, the menu was a little disappointing, (very limited) half way thru the meal one of us asked about the bread basket. They discontinued it (you could order one if you wanted, extra charge). After paying $56 for the filet and $22 for a chicken breast, they couldn't include bread? Trust me, after ordering beverages at the bar and wine at the table no bread? $100 + per couple, and we didn't go home full. Just saying!

One of the best!

One of the best foodie/fine-dining restaurant in the Green Bay area. Locally owned and thoughtfully prepared, we love going to Chives when we have something to celebrate, or just for a night out. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is amazing. Our favorites are the filet and the chicken wontons!

Romantic Dinner attempt

We went here for a romantic dinner as it seemed like a nice little place to sit and reconnect. Beware the prices. Drinks are ridiculously expensive and so are the plates. There is a share charge, so forget splitting one of those expensive meals or don't get caught. The small plates are definitely small. We ended up having to get dessert just to feel full afterwards. It's a nice place, quaint and more boutique like. But we like to eat, so if we wanted to really do that here, it would have cost us a fortune.

High expectations- exceeded

We live in DePere and have been to Chives’ sister restaurant, Bleu, several times. I assumed it would be similar but I was wrong - it definitely has its own vibe. It feels a bit more formal but still accessible, and the food and service are exceptional. I happily took our server’s suggestion and started with a beautiful blood orange martini (or two), followed by one of the day’s features, beef stroganoff, which was made with fresh pappardelle pasta, slow braised short ribs and an extra dollop of sour cream on top. Can’t wait to go back.

Delicious food, done right and worth every penny

We try to stop here either for lunch or dinner when in Green Bay. We like the casual atmosphere and the wait staff, especially Yuri, are amazing. Tonight was no exception, my husband had Bavette Steak that was done to perfection. I had the Salmon and asparagus and it had a sauce that was absolutely delicious, the salmon was cooked perfectly tender and flaky with a crisp crust. Made my taste buds sing.

Going in the wrong direction

This was my number one place to bring out of towners for steak. Tonight three of us ate steak and it tasted like it was bought from Walmart. Go back to the old supplier please. Preparation was great. Staff was good for a bar but definitely not attentive enough for the $300 that we dropped there. And… what happened to the bread?

Incredible Gem in downtown Suamico!

My wife and I have enjoyed this great little place for years. Every time we go for a quick lunch or dinner, we are never disappointed! For my 40th birthday, my wife surprised me with a group of friends sitting in the kitchen for their Chef's table! If you can do this, do it!

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!

From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out, this was an outstanding dining experience! Our server, Lily, was top notch! And the food, how do I even find the words?? We enjoyed the oysters, crab cakes, the most divine craft cocktails, ribeye with frites (and salad), and the grilled grouper. Every bite was absolutely delicious. We will absolutely be back! If you haven't tried Chives, you haven't lived!

Reserve the chef's table now.

One of our best meals ever (trust me, that says a lot). Older building, but welcoming bar and dining areas. Our seating was a picnic style table in the kitchen. The service was prompt, helpful and informative. Each of the six courses that night was spectacular. A couple of the courses were spinoffs of specials, the rest appeared to be just for us. I can't say enough, so I won't say much. We will be back.

Beautiful night in Suamico

Worth the drive from Green Bay. Walking in the old storefront is like stepping back into time. The cocktail and wine menu is wonderfully prepared. Mushroom bruschetta is out of this world. The steak fritte will keep you coming back weekly. The waitstaff was accommodating, especially with the big group we had. Next time I will call ahead even sooner and get the chefs table. Thanks for having us!
