Irene, an excellent bartender, did a great job in orienting us to the menu on this our first visit. My wife and I opted to order one plate at a time to savor every bite in what was a very upbeat bistro environment. "It's Okay To Plae" The service was superb as we spent over two hours enjoying the experience. Our first shareable plate was Brussel Sprout Bruschetta with sauteed crispy sprouts, bugatti, truffle oil & honey on two crostini points, served with a knife in between, ready to cut into flavor-laden morsels. .

Excellent food choice.

A block away from our hotel this restaurant was recommended to us ahead of our trip. Dinner took awhile to get, but the presentation and food were wonderful. Great wait staff who were very busy with a full house on a Wednesday night-need reservations. You will not be disappointed.

Good quality entrees.

We had 5pm reservations on a Friday. We were seated right next to another table of guests, when no other tables had guests seated yet.!? We could have been seated a few tables away. The atmosphere overall is just okay, could be more booths and cozier for couples. Chairs are very uncomfortable. However food was amazing. We enjoyed the Bruschetta, Pecan Encrusted Walleye and Salmon. Service was fine. Old-Fashioned drinks were excellent. One of the best fine dining places in the Green Bay area.

Food is fine but the service is terrible

I met a couple friends in Green Bay on a Thursday afternoon. We planned to grab some lunch before heading to Door County for the weekend. I was excited to have lunch at Plae. I've eaten there a few times before and have enjoyed the food. This time was another story. To set the scene, we arrived around 1 pm. There were a few others in the restaurant but it wasn't busy. We placed our order with our server and enjoyed our beverages while catching up. The server brought our food including the Shrimp Beet Salad that I ordered, and dropped the little jug of salad dressing on me. It spilled on my leather purse, my jeans, my shoes and on the floor in front of our booth. I immediately tried wiping off with the napkin and the server came back with a wet rag. The server apologized and walked away. I headed to the ladies room to wipe down my purse and my jeans. This wasn't a little spill. This was the kind of spill where my expensive leather purse was covered with an oil based dressing and my jeans were wet. There was a slippery spot on the floor about 2 X 4 feet in front of our table. I get back to the table and the server doesn't mention the incident. I was so odd. We rarely see her again until we're ready for our check. Never did she ask if the oil based dressing came out of my purse, or if I was able to get my jeans cleaned up. No manager stopped by to follow up. She didn't even offer to comp any part of our meal. In addition, my friend suggested that it would be a good idea to talk to the manager before leaving in case the wet spots didn't come out of my purse or my jeans. We walked up to the hostess station and there was nobody to be found. No hostess, no bartender, and no manager. Unbelievable! We'll never eat there again. The three of us spent more than $60 on lunch. The Shrimp Beet Salad is $15. If you're going to charge $15 for a lunch salad in Green Bay, I expect good customer service should be included.

We arrived early and have an appetizer and drinks at the bar. Loved the specialty old fashions and the Tuna was delicious. When it came time to sit at our table the waitress was a bit (20 minutes) delayed getting to our table but the food came out quick. The bass was okay a bit too salty for my taste and my husbands ribeye was delicious. The plate presentation was excellent.

Disappointing bday

We went there to celebrate a bday. We were seated an hour after our reservation. We asked for a good table and mentioned the bday. The seat at our booth was cracked and torn fake leather seats. The only person that wished my husband a happy bday was the girl who wiped our table. The waiter never mentioned it. They ran out of the special we hoped for by the time we ordered. We order dessert and no candle, nothing. The crab cakes were cold. The rest of the food was good but if you are charging $40+ for dishes, you need to step it up. It put a damper on our bday celebration. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Not worth the price

Went for a family members birthday. Drinks were good, but very small for over $14 a drink, bread service was very good. Entrees were not good.. at all & very inconsistent. I had pasta with shrimp & sausage, the amount of oil in the dish was terrible. It was very greasy. 3 of our party ordered the pecan crusted walleye. 2 were baked well, the third was not & was almost soggy, All of them had a ridiculous amount of bones in them. The green beans served as a side was the same thing. Some were raw (nowhere near al dente) while some were properly cooked. Also beware- on top of the prices being very high, they add on a 2.99% service charge. For what? I just paid $14 for a small cocktail & a $28 piece of fish with 1/4 c of potatoes & uncooked green beans. The ambiance is nice, but the booths are odd that you feel you are sitting very far from the other side of the table. We did not say anything to the staff about our issues as we were there to celebrate a birthday (which went unrecognized by staff- even though it was noted on the reservation & was told to the server several times). Just left a poor impression on us for the price. They are a strip mall place wanting to be a 5 star.

SERVICE CHARGE!

My wife and I have patronized Plae Bistro for 12 years. Some dining experiences have been better than others, but overall satisfactory. I think it's pretty tacky to add an extra 2.99% to your bill due to the increase in food and supply costs. Why not just increase the cost of food and drinks? That way my watered down Manhattan would cost $14.42 instead of $14.00. I believe Plae Bistro should step back a bit from their humble beginnings and not be so full of themselves.

Celebratory dinner

We were celebrating a big birthday with six adults & very disappointed. Two of us had the special Sea Bass for $51. It was overdone & tasteless. Very disappointing! For the price we paid for the total bill we did not feel it was worth the trip. The rest of the food was good. Service was marginal, at best, for a special occasion.

Expensive but delicious

Went here recently with friends. Overall a great place. Definitely recommend reservations or you will be waiting a while. Service was friendly and the food is incredible. Only downside is the price. This place is soooo expensive. One drink, an entree, and dessert ran me over $70 with a tip for one person. The portions are large but be prepared to pay up if you go with your spouse. Definitely a date night location and not just for a casual night out for dinner.

Beautifully decorated for the holidays!

My first impression was how beautifully decorated it was for the holidays. My GF and I ate at the bar in very comfortable seating. We had a drink and we each had a salad. I had the Asiago Salmon Salad, which was wonderful. It was a real treat dining out when we traveled from a state where restaurants are closed.

Stellar!

First time here, for lunch with reservation. A visually beautiful atmosphere wowed us as we walked in. Service and food were exceptional. Had the ahi tuna appetizer. Best ever, fresh, beautifully presented, perfectly blackened. Plae burgers were done as ordered, delicious. We enjoyed the local bakery and flavorful meats used. Although full, who could turn down a dessert after seeing the sample tray? Key lime pie didn’t dissapoint. Fresh, light, and not over sugary. Our waitress, Tammie, was attentive and friendly. We can’t wait to come back.

Quality food, atmosphere and service

We had a Saturday evening reservation. We arrived on time and were informed there were four tables ahead of us, despite having a reservation. I waited about 10 minutes and was seated. Service was very fast and professional. The ahi tuna was some of the best I've ever had...so essentially it was legit fresh as opposed to frozen to thawed (there is a taste difference for sure!!). Everything was super and would happily return the next time we're in that part of town. Only gave 4/5 due to the reservation issue--because reservations are promissary's for seating and not a general queue placeholder- then why use a reservation system if you cannot honour it??

somewhat swanky joint in Green Bay

I was visiting Green Bay for a Packers game. Someone had mentioned to me that sometimes Packers players hang out at this restaurant. Anyhow, a friend of mine who lives in the area and I went to try this restaurant. It is a nice place, both attractive and interesting decor, good food, and pretty good service. My friend ordered the scallops, he had been through this restaurant before and loves that dish. He was not disappointed this time. I tried the ahi tuna sandwich and a side dish of the vegan chili. The sandwich was delicious, actually an overly large portion. This restaurant is not inexpensive but it is not overly priced. The service was pretty good. This is a nice place, somewhat swanky.

Great choice for our one full meal in Green Bay. Wonderfully caring service and excellent menu led to a memorably tasty dinner. Best appetizer was the sensational Brussels sprouts bruschetta, and both our entrees — pasta and steak — were winners.
