Very inexpensive Japanese restaurant, service quite efficient and quick . Prices very reasonable. Although the salmon sashimi was a little expensive. No liquor is served. The one thing I found most distracting was, they have wooden slated tables covered with plate glass, but many small cockroaches came up through the slates and ran around under the glass. Maybe they should spray the tables in future !!

Went there to have a ramen, they have big serving but the taste is ordinary. The ambiance is good but the place is a bit far from the city. The staffs are not attentive and not friendly. I hope they improved their service.

The place is great. It has good food and a great atmosphere. The prices are okay. The service can be better, I guess.

I enjoy Japanese food. And here in Zamboanga, there are only a few good Japanese restaurants. The price is reasonable. The place gives off a Japanese-place vibe. It's rather small though. But it is rarely packed. There are people but not too much that you couldn't find a seat anymore.

Ambiance was really Japanese. For food I will say that not the best Japanese resto compared to Japanese restos in Manila but well it may be the best Japanese resto in Zamboanga. A bit pricey.

The food was good especially the bento. I personally think it was sulit considering the portions. the price can be a little over with some of the dishes. But overall the food was good and would definitely recommend it

This place is tacky. The walls are lined with corrugated steel sheets, the chairs are so uncomfortable, there cheap looking tarpaulin charts of sushi, and cheap "japanese" props like katana. It seems like they took any japanese and put it up on the wall. The service is not good. The crew is either not attentive or is just pretending to not see you when you call their attention. No manners at all. When they finally serve the food they just put it on the table like you're not there. Not a smile. Not a "enjoy your meal". Serving time is terrible. The food is the most basic of their basic Idea of "japanese food". Sushi, Ramen, and Bento. It's not very good either. They don't use japonica rice for sushi, or at the very least some sort of starchier rice cultivar, which is a must when making sushi. Their ramen is not much different than any other noodle soup served anywhere in the city. The broth lacks richness in flavor. The eggs are not soft boiled. Sometimes they don't have ramen, or gyoza, or sushi. That's not good for a restaurant that serves only that. If you're a local and you don't have many choices for Japanese food, and you don't really care how your sushi is made, this place would probably be good enough. But if you're in town for vacation and want some good food, or you're a sushi aficionado, this is not the right place.

Sorry for your bad experience. Please dont bother eating here anymore as you are not welcomed here. Just take a trip to Japan instead. And mind you, please ask the management where we source our ingredients because Zamboanga doesnt have it for sale. We air freight it from Japanese suppliers. Thanks for your very lengthy review Im sure I read that somewhere too!

The place is quite far from the city proper but it's totally worth the travel. The food is pretty good plus the interior looks really nice. It feels like you're really in Japan.

Except for the miso soup which tasted like only hot water and the tuna sashimi which was a little tough, my bento order of beef teriyaki was very good. Restaurant ambience and decor above average.

Samurai has improved a lot, using authentic japanese ingredients. Portions are great and they use real Japanese rice as well, dishes are well executed and instagram worthy, ambience is small but cozy. Great value for money

So far the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in Zamboanga, aside from its delectable food, it is very affordable. Location is very OK, ambiance is cozy, waiters 8/10. What I don't like, the smell of the restaurant sticks to my clothes, maybe lack of good ventilation, I don't know, try it for yourself.
