I used to speak very highly of this place but after last night they have lost me as a customer. Five of us, a Sunday evening. There was one couple and then another table of maybe six people. I would have expected more people but...so be it. I did not see the owner at the cooking station and maybe that contributed to the disappointment we experienced. First, the prices are pretty high; higher than I remembered. Pasta dishes $25ish. Simple sparse order of Calamari was $15. Meat entrees jumped up considerably from there. Two pasta dishes came out first. Then another and then the waitress appeared with two completely wrong orders! Then, not long after she brought another wrong ravioli dish! We eventually got the right dishes but shook our heads at this goof up with so few patrons in the place. My crab filled ravioli were very mediocre and very flat; hardly any filling. My wife’s seafood combo pasta was boring and the seafood did not seem very fresh—likely frozen. I tasted the other dishes and nothing special. So, without any alcohol the bill came to $200 before tip. We walked away less than thrilled and won’t be back. I believe the place is slipping.More

We made reservations here for my husband's birthday dinner, as we had had some wonderful times here and eating here was very special for us. Nice, upscale, white table linen, the whole nine. We get there at 7pm. They do not even acknowledge our reservation,...and when asking for a booth, he told us there were none available and that we had to have reserved one (which nobody mentioned when my husband was making reservations). No booth was ever occupied the entire time we were there. He sat us right at the entrance of the restaurant, which was not cozy or private but rather out in the middle of everything. I have a surgical boot on, which requires I keep my foot up. He made no effort to accommodate us. (When I specifically asked for a chair to put my foot up on, the server nicely got me one. The guy could not be bothered.) Fine. We're sat. The restaurant has never been anything like crowded in our visits here, and there were only 3 parties seated. After a longish wait, the server bounces over and starts reciting the specials. Her accent was so thick I could not understand her and had to ask several times for her to repeat. Okay, we're ordered. I had to ask for lemon for my water 3 times. Not a good experience so far. After getting our bread and olive oil, a large party comes in. All the servers' attention goes to the large party. After a pretty long wait, the food comes. It is delicious. However, he is supposed to get a mushroom truffle sauce with his rib eye. She brings something that looks and tastes like raspberries. When I question her gently about it, she casually mentions it has red wine in it and “that she just brings what they give her." I had told her several times we didn’t want anything with alcohol in it. She does not even try to make it right by offering a substitute or even apologizing because it’s not right. The server never checks back to see if everything is okay or to ask if we need anything. My husband wants to order dessert. Fine. After another 15 minutes or so she comes by with dessert menus. She goes away and comes back about 10 minutes later to take our order. (It is a small restaurant and you can walk across it in 2 minutes.) We had only ordered one dessert; she brings us two. Fine, we'll take it home. By this time my butt is severely beginning to ache and I just wanna get outta there. After another 10 minutes she comes by with the check. I tell her that I'm not feeling well and that we have to leave. She mutters "sorry you're not feeling well," but it does not hurry her up any. Did I mention there are only 3 parties there, and 2 servers? By the way, nobody ever did come in and sit in the booths. We will not be back. There are too many other restaurants that want our business and will treat us right.More

So, there are two very high-quality Italian restaurants in Manassas as far as I’m concerned and I’ve been cooking for 40 years. Semifreddo in Manassas and here, Tortino Mare in Manassas park. Today I took my daughter and she has never been there but I...like introducing her to higher quality restaurants. We each shared one order of Caesar salad and it was grilled which was a little unusual to me but it was delicious. A full length half Romain lettuce blackened a little bit and drizzled with dressing. It was new to her as well but we enjoyed it. It’s rare that I find steak tartare on a menu and I knew it would be quality here. It was not disappointing at all. I usually enjoy some toasted bread points with Tare-Tare, but we had to utilize the focaccia bread that was put on our table earlier. The Focaccia was a bit lack luster to be honest. For my entree, I opted for “Lamb Ravioli.” Although quite attractive on the plate, I should have gone with another dish. The raviolis were tender but I felt they were made simply w “Wonton wrapper” instead of a succulent egg-pasta. The fillings were not consistent; some bulged with filling but others were flat. My daughter ordered a Margarita Pizza and we had to send it back as it was watery in the middle (undercooked). I’ve never know a Margherita to have sliced, fresh tomatoes, rather I thought the difference was simply FRESH mozzarella with the ubiquitous sauce and of course, fresh Basil. The “out of season” tomato slices were lackluster and added a sogginess. They prepared a NEW pizza but it wasn’t much better. We picked it up. The nice manager , Josh felt bad and provided a complimentary dessert. At lunchtime on this Friday there was ONE other Table of four and yet EVERY dish seemed to take forever. I am scared how slow it would be had it been busier. I hate to badmouth a business but they need to work on some things. I dropped $80 with no alcohol today and just shake my head and remind myself why I cook at home. Not sure I’ll rush back.More

We are Italian and very fussy about Italian restaurants. This restaurant is classy, delicious, spot-on with their food and service. They know to serve a tablespoon for twirling in a side dish with the meal. Who does that?? The food was perfect and presentation was...wonderful! The three colors salad was one of the best salads I have ever had! Amazing! You have to go here for pizza or a full entree! Fantastic!!More

So excited to return to local restaurants now that our COVID quarrintine has relaxed and were fully vaccinated. Had some wonderful meals here in the past but the meal yesterday was a disappointment. First off there were no specials, soup of the day or pizza...due to staff shortages. We started with the Calamari Friti which was tough and bland. She had the fish of the day which was Grilled Salmon that wasn't fresh and a disappointment. I had the Tagliatello Bolognese and the pasta was overdone and beyond limp but the sauce was rich and tasty. The Chocolate Sausage was a big disappointment as the chocolate slices were gummy and tasted stale like they had been left uncovered in the refrigerator overnight. They said there was a new chef working alone so maybe that explains the drop in quality and limited menu. We were so looking forward to a special meal out and didn't find it here. The service was great and they followed local COVID protocols.More

First do not let the store front fool you. We live in NJ our son and his fiancé live in Virginia. We were hosting their rehearsal dinner on 9/24/2020 for 31 people. Estella the the event person was very helpful, as some attendees had Covid...questions. We were seated outside in the lovely covered patio area. The food was delicious, freshly made, the presentation was lovely. Our guest had a choice between 3 entrees with appetizers and dessert. The meat ravioli were to die for! The servers worked extremely hard to make sure all were taken care. Were there hiccups, only minor, which is to be expected with a large group. Picking a restaurant solely from reviews several states away was a bit scary, however this restaurant did not disappoint! If you are in the area it is worth stoppin gin.More

Don't be deceived by the outside, step into another wonderful world of perfection. Excellent attention to details. I had the duck breast, perfectly prepared with balsamic reduction, wild mushrooms deliciously seasoned and mashed sweet potatoes savory not sweet. Couldn't have been better. My companion had...a four inch thick veal chop with the same sides. All was excellent. The semifreddo was lovely. I liked the panna cotta, it had fresh raspberries, but a touch firmer than I make, delicious.More

Simply put, if you want an upscale, but affordable Italian restaurant, this is it. My wife and I have been dining here since they opened and they are consistantly wonderful.

The food here was incredible! So many good options to choose from and presentation was great, but the best was the taste! Wonderful wine list as well! The staff was very good and worked well as a team. The prices are a little high, but...you get what you pay for. We’ll definitely be back!More

We went here for my second (!!) birthday dinner on recommendations. Lovely place; white tablecloths, courtyard (for warmer weather) and small private room. Tho small, it felt spacious. Waiter attentive and prompt; had good timing. There was a bit of a language barrier with him...but we were patient. He brought out foccaccia and olive oil to start, and in due course our soup (cauliflower/roasted pepper), then the entrees. I had the fruitti di mare (shelllfish/shrimp over pasta) and it was wonderful. Needed a box as I couldn't finish it. He had Meatballs Rigatoni that he pronounced "delicious and filling." The place is definitely Italian-themed, with archways and murals, very relaxing and soothing. Parking can be a bit sticky as it is in a tiny shopping center, but well worth it. We plan to return.More

Had an awesome experience at Tortino Mare in Manassas Park. This is jewel hidden in a residential neighborhood and may be the best Italian restaurant for fine dining in the area. Our party shared the Calamari Fritti and then enjoyed the Nicolini Ravioli (with lump...crab), Tagliatelle Bolognese (with veal rugu), Barramundi special, and the Linguini Fruttti di Mare (with seafood and shellfish). We also enjoyed the Semifreddo (like a super creamy gelato) and the cheesecake. All the food was delicious, made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and we enjoyed super friendly wait staff service. We'll definitely return to this hidden gem and try the other superb menu selections including brick oven pizza.More

In a strip mall in Manassas Park is a great Italian restaurant. Friends had a late lunch there recently. Two roasted tomato soups and 1 fennel and beet salad with wonderful bread, two risottos of the day and one tagliatelle bolognese. Three cappuccinos. More food...than we could finish (but a great second meal), each course better than the last. Oh, and verry good wines by the glass. I wish it were closer to where I live but Tortino Mare is worth a drive. Friendly and competent service, a nice patio for good weather.More

My wife and I visited last night. We got there early, before the dinner rush, so the place was largely empty. That said we found the service to be attentive and friendly. They take an obvious team approach to service. I ordered the New York...Steak (not a NY Strip) and it was delicious. I am not sure what kind of sauce it was that they poured over it, but it was perfect. The roasted potatoes were slightly crisp on the outside with almost a French-fry like consistency. My wife had the Rigatoni Meatballs. The meatballs were small but very tender and flavorful, mixed in a tomato meat sauce with big chucks of soft mozzarella cheese mixed in. When I asked for a container to take my leftovers home, our waiter offered to wrap it for me. I am a big fan of that level of service and feel more restaurants should take this approach. As far as the atmosphere, you would probably feel out of place if you showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. I’m not saying you gotta wear a tux, but something business casual seems right. This place definitely has a date-night feel to it more so than a ‘round up the kids, we’re goin’ our’ type of vibe.More
