For years, before COVID and back when I worked in Leesburg, I frequently treasured going to South Street Under — especially in the Summertime when Gazpacho is one of the soup choices. Then, I would order the soup with half a sandwich. The soup was...always delicious and the half sandwich sufficient in size. These days, I no longer work in Leesburg and COVID is no longer a deterrent — so on a recent trip to Leesburg I thought of going to South Street. I ordered half sandwich and soup, as in days past. While the soup was delicious as usual, the size and contents of the half sandwich was half the size of the half that it used to be and the filling was scant. Just 2 small slivers of chicken, the thickness of a credit card and the size of my pinkie. The description of what was to be the day’s special sandwich listed several toppings that were to be on it, along with the chicken. Half of them were missing. The rest were barely present. When I voiced to the staff the fact that the sandwich portion of the order was unsatisfactory, I was told that it was what is considered the usual portion for a half sandwich. Truly, if I had chosen to do so, I could have finished it in one bite. That’s how small it was. And I have a small mouth. So I guess this is the new, “usual”. Also, the slices of bread that come with the soup was also credit card thin. Thinner than it used to be. So sad to see that South Street has gone south.More

Went for the first time and got the basic chicken salad sandwich. It was basic. The taste was subpar, nothing special. The place inside is old and crowded. The outdoor seating is ok. I didn’t think it was anything really special. And for $12, you...would think you would get a side.More

My daughter just moved to Leesburg and I was visiting her. We came here for a quick bite and we had a good meal. I had the Tuscan chicken sandwich and my daughter had the meatloaf sandwich. They had a nice selection . I am...Not a fan of places that do not post all the prices. We had 2 sandwiches , 2 fountain drinks and 1 bag of chips and it was $27. They had adequate outdoor space but it was not as well kept as it could be. Trash hangout of the trash cans etc. the food was good. My daughter said her job gets takeout from here frequently. We will definitely be back.More

My companion mentioned this location to which I had never been. It is located directly underneath the Tuscarora Grill. There is a very nice courtyard you can sit after getting you soup, sandwich, breads or anything else. Bread I am told is made on site....As the weather was chilly, we elected to eat indoors. All the staff wore facemarks and very mindful of being safe distances. A good place to return.More

i go here so often that they know my name and order. i go here before work in weekends, i go here during school lunch time, i go here on my off days. i always get the tuna salad hot with iced tea and sometimes...a mousse cup (while it’s gluten free, it still tastes amazing) it’s a little expensive but worth the cost. i would go here everyday if i could. i never get tired of it! -cooper :)More

After fasting bloodwork at my doctor’s, I was starving. The quiché of the day with fruit was more than adequate in size and very tasty. It is a good quiche.

Got lunch and honestly it was lacking. My husband got the Reuben and the bread was just basic. Not enough meat. Nothing exciting there. My chicken salad was also basic. Had zero flavor. I didn’t even taste the mayo. Won’t be returning, there’s nothing special.

A favorite place for locals to meet for lunch. Great sandwiches. Eat outside on a warm day and open up the opportunity to see other people you may know in the area.

We stopped in for a quick bite after going to “Visit Loudoun” and we loved it. Our only complaint is that we live so far away so we can’t go back all the time! The food was served quickly and was phenomenal. The ciabatta was...some of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for lunch in Leesburg, South Street Under is the place to go!More

My wife and I came for a late lunch, plus clam chowder. She liked her sandwich, I liked my meatloaf sandwich. We both enjoyed hot chocolate, and coffee. Service was friendly and fast. They are not cheap but worth it.

I stopped in for a ciabatta to go and decided to try their breakfast sandwich. I wish I lived closer. Their sandwiches are delicious. Their ciabatta is the best I've ever had. Coffee is tasty as well. I'll have to try lunch sometime.

I've been going to South Street Under for at least 15 years, and it's a consistently good source of comfort food. Both hot and cold sandwiches, soups, quiches, pasta dishes, and yummy treats. Service is always friendly and prompt. I couldn't recommend it more.

We were optimistic to think we would find seating for seven for breakfast but.... hey, optimists belong at South Street Under..... anyone belongs there and everyone was there! Our daughter told me that the egg sandwiches were really great so we skipped the tired hotel...breakfast buffet and headed over to South Street. That place was HOPPIN’!! Six egg sandwiches and a bagel later, we were still looking for a table but we did manage to scrounge up bar stools so we managed! The food was great and my latte was smooth and yummy. The wind was whipping around outside so we were happy to have tasty hot food and coffee inside. People kept coming in non-stop... for take-out orders, for breakfasts like us hoping to find a table, and for some... you could tell they were the regulars.... they were in and out with mo expectations to stay.... just to grab their favorites was enough. Parking is available in a large dedicated parking lot + on street parking.More
