Ordered a house salad from the "Soup & Salad" part of the menu thinking I would just start with a "side" salad. Wow! It was huge.

We kind of quit coming here. It is old and run down. The booth upholstery is worn and soiled. The tables are sticky and the carpet is soiled. It just really needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Was not impressed before this visit and still...not impressed on this visit. If the dining room is this filthy I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. On the positive, our server was kind and attentive. She can't help the condition of the restaurant. The food is ok as long as I don't see the kitchen.More

Watching a TV advertisement for applebees loaded fajita for $10.99 on 6-22-19. We ate this meal on 5-31-19 and were charged $17.99 for the beef, and $15.99 for the chicken. The beef was loaded with salt. The service was good.

Wifey and I received email note exclaiming May is military appreciation 15% off...so we were in the area and decided to stop in around 7pm....somewhat crowded but got a table quick enough. We chose the 2 for $25 special....good dip and chips, wife had steak...and pommes, I went with chicken and shrimp....all was fine until time to pay...I showed my server my ID and mentioned we came in for the military special....she came back and advised that sorry, Applebee’s doesn;t offer mil specials on their “specials”.....geez....not saying that is bait and switch....I paid an left a tip....but Applebee’s won’t be seeing us back again....More

At 5:30 pm on Staurday, went for dinner. I ordered from the bigger, bolder menu and the only thing bigger and bolder was the menu! My steak and rib meal was served to me over a bed of onion ring crumbs...the bits left at the...bottom of the baking dish after the real onion rings are served and used up. My steak was the same size as my thumb, and again, looked like a left over selection of steak that was really too small to serve as a steak...it was a steak strip. The ribs were about 2 1/2 inches long, guess the pig it came from was a piglet. The broccoli was the only part of the meal that lived up to the menu description. I asked my server about my tiny and crumb looking meal and he stated it was in fact not supposed to be onion rings but onion crumbles. He said, yes my steak was the correct size as were the ribs. My date asked if the full rack of ribs was really a rack of ribs as they were also 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. We were told, yes, that was a rack of ribs. As I ate my crumbs, a person at the next table ordered the same meal I had but received a normal looking steak, normal looking ribs, and real onion rings! Guess it pays to know someone when eating here. If you don't know the waitstaff, you will be served crumbs!More

I understand why it's ranked #29 of 67 restaurants in Gloucester, VA. We had NO WAIT, which was great, especially considering it was a Saturday & day before Mother's Day. Waitress was loud, and very talkative. I wouldn't mind it, but she was doing the...majority of the talking & most of it was inappropriate sharing about temperature in the restaurant & her colleagues(?!). I ordered one of the Grilled Combos specials., consisting of a small sirloin, shrimp 2 ways (breaded/fried & barbecue), with broccoli, cole slaw & a baked potato. My wife had grilled salmon. The food came quickly enough, but my order had a problem. I asked for the sirloin to be medium well & it was RARE!. I sent it back & the waitress was apologetic. In the meantime, I tucked into the rest of my meal. The fried shrimp was unimpressive, and no cocktail sauce was offered (nor did I ask for it). The barbecued skewered shrimp were "just okay". The broccoli was DELICIOUS - steamed just right, crispy, buttery. The baked potato was okay. About this time, the waitress swung by to inform me that the kitchen staff had said my steak was now properly cooked, but she checked it herself and it was NOT done right, so SHE sent it back. By the time I finally got it, the steak had the original cut I made in it to check it the first time, plus 3 more cuts that the waitress or kitchen staff had made as they tried to get a steak right! At this point, it looked like it had been run over by a truck! To top it off, it still was rare in places. How exactly does one do that w/ a petite sirloin?! My wife & I decided to split a brownie sundae for dessert. I guess to make up for the steak, the waitress (we believe) gave us TWO orders of brownie sundae on ONE plate for the price of one. That was nice of her, but unnecessary, especially since we were trying to only eat a half-portion of dessert. It was there, and it was about what you'd expect for a chain restaurant (except for the steak fiasco!).More

Walk into the overwhelming smell of pine-sol...not very appetizing and doesn't come across as clean (the blinds are disgusting). Not all menu items are available, lettuce in my Caesar was wilted and brown on the edges. My husband wanted a hamburger; a cheeseburger was delivered....The server pushed us to use the table credit card reader, but we didn't want to & had to push back. We'll never go to another Applebee's again. This is the second bad experience we've had.More

We went to Applebee’s around 4 on a Saturday. We had four different people wait on us. They tried but it was slow and one of orders was messed up. Our actual waitress really just brought us our check. Everything else we needed someone else...brought. Not sure what was really going on. The best thing we ordered was the burger that they brought without anything on. The double crunch shrimp here had no taste when at other Applebee’s is really good. We will not be returning and unless you want apps and drinks I wouldn’t recommend it.More
