Clifton is a quaint little town home to Trummers Restaurant. We hadn't been there since the renovation. What was once a good restaurant with smallish rooms thruout now has a very large two story space with large windows and skylines. We were there in the...evening so I can only imagine how beautiful a daytime meal would be. Our server, Joe, was very knowledgeable on Austrian wines and he helped us select a Jalits blaufrankisch ReserveDiabas 2016. No other time in recent months did we want dinner to be perfect more than last weekend. It was my daughter's birthday and our youngest foodie spent hours looking through menus and finally decided on Trummer's. Well - The menu and on-line could use an...update! It lists the Spring 2019 menu. And the restaurant fails to inform the patrons that it is taking part in Taste of Fairfax and menu is modified. Let me skip to the end - it was awful! The service was subpar. Our wait staff was not very observant. The 3-course menu had far better offerings than the 5 course and those in our group who partook in the 3-course were not impressed. The 5 course was a huge fai! - The soup was changed without notice to gazpacho - we were informed of the change when the bowls were placed in front of us! The tomato Tart was an overdone crust with mushy tasteless tomatoes and overpowering cheese. The steak was 2 small bite sizes of NY strip on top of a single fingerling potato cut in half! This was the worst birthday dinner and we will have to mark this one as a massive FAIL!More

Went for a friend’s birthday, and all of us were delighted with our restaurant week meals. Our waiter carefully described each selection for each course which made choosing difficult because each sounded wonderful. And they were. I especially enjoyed the pate, while others in my...party selected gazpacho and frisée salad. The short rib entree with polenta and salad was a masterpiece. Same with the fish with risotto and gnocchi entrees. Desserts were especially rewarding and included chocolate pecan pie, stone fruit sundae or mousse. A great meal overall. But I would like to see an IPA on the beer list, though I was tempted by the cocktails I saw passing by.More

This was such a great and remarkable visit. Justin took special care if us and answered all of my questions. This restaurant is is incredibly awesome. Not only are they independent, their menu chances so frequently because they have the most up to date and...fresh ingredients on it. Further, they take care of their customers. At least for the D.C. area, this is country enough, in Clifton, VA, under 30 minutes outside the beltway. It's the perfect combination of modern elegance in a traditional building, with superb service and dining options, perhaps the best restaurant in Northern Virginia.

We discovered Trummer’s while spending a week based in Manassas. We feasted on their delicious Sunday brunch - cinnamon beignets and the pastry basket being most popular at our table. So impressed, we returned two days later to try their dinner. Again, we were delighted...by the food and attentive service. I enjoyed the salad frisée both times - adding an extra egg at dinner. We went and tried the full chef course experience for our anniversary. The setting was perfect and quiet. I really enjoyed their mixed drinks, which was carefully crafted and based on recommendations for what bourbons we liked. Their mixologist was very knowledgable. Food was very...inventive and fun.
