We went here several years ago and didn’t return, but I don’t know why. Their menu looked great with lots of good choices. Service was friendly and attentive also. We had just a pizza (verace) and salad, and it was delicious. The place gets very...crowded, so reservations are recommended. We will certainly go back and try the other options. Wine was a little pricey (about $15 per glass for most.), but otherwise prices were not too bad.More

Having read over and over again about Ciao Osteria and how wonderful it was, my husband and I went there for lunch today. For reference, we arrived about 12:10 (lunchtime in our opinion). There were only two other groups when we arrived so we were...seated and our order was taken promptly. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. We each got a different pasta--tortellini for him, carbonara for me. They were okay, but they were completely average. We were underwhelmed. I'm a very good cook, but not a great cook, but even my Italian dishes at home are better. Maybe their dinners are more upscale, and I'm sure that cheese wheel thing is an experience, but we were actually pretty disappointed. The food was moderately warm, but not hot, the portions were large, but both dishes were dry. We're glad we went to see for ourselves, but we will look elsewhere for our next Italian meal.More

Several years ago this was the best restaurant in Centreville, possibly the best Italian restaurant in Northern VA, but like most has gone downhill. The bread is still pretty good and most of the meals are ok but other local Italian retsaurants in Manassas and...Reston are now far superior because Ciao's owner has just let it go. Gone are the days when the service was impeccable, the chef would pay each table a personal visit, and sometimes the owner too. Gone are the days when the staff actually cared about the customers need and concerns. My last visit in December was awful and the time before that (my Birthday in June was terrible). Unfortunately, I am done giving Ciao great reviews and not giving them a third chance to mess up my dinner. I say Ciao to Ciao.More

I have tried seafood, meat, salad, pizzas - everything is good. They make their own Gelato. One can just order gelato for take out ! Great ambience. If there are bo free tables ( very busy at dinner) , one can find a place at...the small bar. Love this place though can be a bit expensive.More

Too loud for special occasions. Staff did not acknowledge 35th wedding anniversary. Chicken Milanese was to salty & basically a salad w/chicken not as expected. Pasta was good. Restaurant has become very casual.

This was our first experience at this restaurant. I highly recommend reservations! They were packed. This is a relatively small, local Italian restaurant. They offer several traditional Italian menu items, but they also have specials for the day as well. The price range goes from...reasonable to expensive, so they should have something for every budget. Everything we ordered was extremely tasty. We plan to return.More

We went there on a Sunday night. We did not have reservations,?but we were able to sit in the bar area. The place was packed. The bartender took our drink orders and meal orders. He was excellent. My wife had the lobster ravioli and as...usual it was delicious. I had the pollo fritto which was on the special order list. It was so tender and moist. I will definitely have it again. A hidden gem? The food is delicious and authentic. My regret was not knowing this place earlier! We ordered a variety of food including the bone marrow, squid ink pasta, and veal in capper sauce! Every dish from our first bite was delectable! The service...is top notch. The servers were fast and attentive while giving us space to enjoy the delicious cuisine, even without the reservation (bar section). What a phenomenal Italian restaurant!More

We went there with friends and family to celebrate my 70th birthday. We had a great time. The food was excellent and tasted so fresh. Our server Edwin was amazing. He got everything right and he was so friendly. He check with us constantly to...made sure everything and everyone was satisfied. The owner stopped by and introduced himself and told us his story. As a former New Yorker the place is the closest we have found to be like the Italian restaurants in New York The pizza was great. Many of the people in my party had the lobster ravioli and raves about it. I had the short rib lasagna and it awesome We will definitely be back and go there again soonMore

Good, authentic Italian. The food does not come with anything besides the main dish and some breadsticks. It is a little pricey for what you get. My husband did say it was the best Chicken Marsala he has ever eaten. This is a local business.

I’m writing this after one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I want to preface this by saying that my family and I have been Ciao customers for a long time - my brother is Celiac and we’ve come here...for his birthday every December for the past 6 years as this restaurant is known for being one of the few GF friendly places in the area. The manager Gina (and if you’re reading this Gina, you might want to think about switching careers - you’re terrible at your job) was extremely rude to my father, mother and myself tonight. We had ordered a pizza for takeout that when we got home, took one single bite of and noticed it was VERY spicy - to the point it was inedible. After calling Ciao’s to see if we could solve the problem, we had the misfortune of speaking to Gina, who I’m assuming thought we were trying to pull a scam and get a free pizza in return - which was not the case. Her tone and manner of speaking on the phone was unprofessional and inappropriate, and her customer service skills non-existent. While she condescendingly offered us a different pizza for no charge in exchange for the one we weren’t going to eat, I was so indignant with the situation I let her know that she could actually charge my card for the new pizza - I didn’t want any freebies from someone the likes of that. All in all, I’m humiliated and extremely disappointed by the entire situation that occurred in a place my brother loves. Needless to say we will never be returning - especially with someone like Gina at the helm.More

We're fans of Neapolitan pizza, and we always enjoy trying it at different restaurants when travelling. We were surprised to learn that there are several restaurants serving Neapolitan-style pizza in northern Virginia. So we decided to stop at one on a recent trip. As expected,...Ciao serves good quality wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. But it also serves a wide range of other Italian dishes. As a result, we were able to enjoy a nice meal together even though I was not eating pizza. The pizza was very well-made. The dough was nice and fresh, the sauce has a good flavor, and the cheese was good as well. We got the pizza with Buffalo milk mozzarella, but the normal cow's milk mozzarella was probably about as good. Ours was cooked slightly too long and had a little charring, but it wasn't bad. I had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The salad was very well made with fresh house-made dressing, and the chicken was very good. It was a generous portion, too. The restaurant features an interesting décor with artwork and scenes from Rome, Tuscany, and elsewhere in Italy. It is an enjoyable atmosphere to dine in. Overall, I would highly recommend Ciao Osteria for anyone who's looking for excellent Neapolitan pizza and Italian dishes.More

We are snobby about Italian food being from NJ, and we absolutely LOVE this place--best in the DC area in my opinion. The food is fresh and delicious; we frequently order the Il Misto (mixed seafood in a red sauce), but we've loved everything we've...ordered, including linguini and clam sauce and lasagna. The bread is also great. The one downside is they are so popular you often end up having to wait a good bit even with a reservation...but we've been doing a lot of takeout amid COVID and it's just as good!More

There are better Italian restaurants such as Villagio Trattoria in Clifton. Buy a gift there instead. Sicilians would cringe if they went to Cia Osteria, the food is barely mediocre
