The food was fresh, delicious, and did not feel like big, greasy diner food. So portion size is closer to what portion sizes should be. The Waffle especially was a small single waffle, which was surprising and could probably have been two waffles for a full entre. But the food was great and priced well and the portions worked well for us (we prefer smaller portions, hate food waste, and were travelling through so did not want to carry left overs)
From what I hear - there is always a long line, but we waited in line for about 10 minutes before ordering (best to look at menu ahead of time), and in the mean time one of us grabbed an empty table when it was available. Once ordered, the food came out quickly. So overall the wait did not feel to bad.
Process - stand in line , order and pay, grab your table marker, they serve you at the table. Coffee is self-serve, and only creamer pods are available, Bakery section is separate with separate ordering section. Note if you order a bagel instead of toast, you have to order and pay extra for cream cheese.

My favorite place to eat dinner. Tonight’s course was Moroccan lamb stew with an entree salad. Seasonal dressing was lemon jalapeño, so yummy. Bread was served with a citrus and basil house made butter. Entree was the Salmon with green lentils. Amazing!!! I was worried that the stew would overpower the salmon with lentil, but was similar in spice and amazing. I did not choose the chef roasted vegetables. They are good but with this savory course, a cold side would have brought more elegance. I had both the white and red wines. White was better but white is usually best with things from the sea.

We've been to Our Daily Bread for breakfast and liked it very much. The only thing that keeps us away each time we visit Blacksburg is the long line and wait. This November, we decided to try it for dinner as the menu offered some interesting options.
We were seated right away since there were very few people in the restaurant and got started with some bread served with herbed butter. We ordered a bottle of wine, the escargot, and a pumpkin-beer-cheese soup. Both appetizers were tasty. I, personally, would have liked a little more garlic in the escargot but they were still good. The soup was very flavorful and rich (you didn't really taste the pumpkin)...good for dipping your bread into (and I don't normally like doing that) and the bowl contained more than my husband could finish. The appetizers were followed by a small house salad with a nice balsamic vinegar dressing. For our entrees we selected salmon with a avocado-dill sauce (came with white rice and roasted vegetables) and a chicken/poulet with a creamy thyme sauce (also came with roasted veggies and potatoes). The salmon was cooked to my liking and the sauce offered creaminess with a hint of dill. The chicken entrée was tender and again, the sauce was tasty. The portion sizes were just right. Unlike some restaurants whose vegetables are either tasteless or soaked in butter, the roasted vegetables and potatoes were flavorful without feeling heavy. The rice was plain (like rice you would get at an Asian restaurant).
Even though we were stuffed, we were curious about a crepe dessert with chocolate and almonds (since everything else we tried was tasty,) so we ordered one of those to split. It arrived at our table before we had finished our entrees so it sat there for a little while. It had a nice flavor; however, it probably would have tasted better if we had eaten it warm.
With the exception of the dessert coming early, we enjoyed our experience very much. We had friendly and attentive service. Even though tablecloths were put on the tables, you still felt like you were in a bakery but if you're not looking for a dark romantic spot and are interested in eating something other than pizza, burgers, fried chicken, or tacos in a quiet environment, this is a great place to consider!

I used to go there quite a bit, because it was one of the best places for a good lunch. Now, the lunch specials menu has shrunken, so there are 3 choices, aside from the prepared sandwiches, salads, and soups... so that was a disappointment. AND, then, remind me never to order the turkey sandwiches anymore. I thought it would be real turkey breast, but it's deli meat, yuck! Also, if you're gonna serve tap water, could you please at least filter it.

On Wednesday 10/05/22 was looking forward to trying breakfast after telling myself I would never get breakfast at Our Daily Bread again. Consistently poor experience before. Waited four months and finally gave them another try. Result was terrible disappointment: potatoes were cold, hollandaise was cold and poached eggs were hard. Returned plate to manager and told him the problems with the preparation. New food comes out, hollandaise was as cold as before, refrigerator cold. Told the manager, who appeared to be a nice guy, but knew nothing about food and obviously did not make sure problems were corrected before he brought new plate. I want to support local restaurants, but local restaurants need to do their part and produce decent food. Will NEVER order breakfast again. Will get a pastry and coffee.

Over-rated and disappointing. Banana crepe had three bites of banana. It seemed they were sharing one banana with ten people. The crepe itself was dry and bland. Bacon burnt, sausage burnt. Southern omelette was ok, but again, one bite with cheese. If you want, will need, salt and pepper you have to go get it along with anything else you may try to provide some flavor. Other than the girl at the cash register, everyone else seemed upset to be working. Huge disappointment.

I stood in the bakery line side of the store and waited nearly 20 minutes working my way to the register to buy three cookies. The cashier asked what I wanted, then a lady walked up and told her she was from the hospital and prepaid order to pick up. I was then ignored by the cashier. After 5 minutes I left. Three cookies are NOT worth that much time. I only get a half hour for lunch and can't take another half hour just to try to get three cookies to share with my crew. Next time I'll just go to Kroger across the street. Much better service!!

Stopped in for a quick afternoon pick-me-up while in town visiting. The macaroons were delicious with lots of flavor varieties. We grabbed a pre made grab and go chicken salad to try for later . Very quaint bakery and eatery. Would love to return to try their breakfast or dinner. A must try scratch bakery.

The windows looked dirty as we walked up. The cases for all the food makes it look pretty. We got two cookies and cream cheesecake bars, a muffin, three macaroons and a mango dessert. The macaroons looked really good so we ate them as soon as we sat down outside in our vehicle. They tasted like musty books, my husband actually spit his out. It didn’t matter what flavor macaroon they all had the same refrigerator musty book flavor to them, they were awful. The cheesecake bars were old and leathery like. We threw them away. The mango mousse desert was pretty good! We have not ate the muffin since the other items were so bad. I’m not sure leaving all these desserts out in open air cases is a good idea, but the desserts may be good when fresh, who knows. I liked the place ok, but won’t be back because of the items weren’t any good. I hate this because I thought I had found a new place to visit, when we go to Blacksburg.

Took an immense time to place order. SLOW! and it wasn’t even busy.
Cashier had to key in every request-
Ex. Cup with ice
Second plate please etc.
Then you wait until it’s brought you
Front doors are filthy as usual. Unpleasant first impression.
Quiches should not be microwaved. Mush. Soggy crust. Defeats the purpose of a homemade crust.
Not very clean to sit outside.
I’ve heard baguettes can have burnt bottoms.
Very popular spot. There’s really no other “bakery” eatery in town. They try for the French flair. But it’s lacking since new owners took over.

We usually love coming here. However, we were not happy with a few things. The cappucino machine was broken. That can't be helped. The trash had not been emptied since the night before outside and the smell knocked you over. The paper towel machine was not working in the women's bathroom. Food was good, but we expected more. The staff of 3 were all chatting inside and there was only one other table of people there. These things should have been checked upon their getting there in the morning.

This is my go-to breakfast spot when in Blacksburg to drop off/pick up my daughter form VT or to visit her. It's in a large strip mall but don't let that put you off. The interior is spacious and comfortable and the food is excellent. I'll be back again next weekend and am looking forward to another excellent meal here.

We had a very nice, quiet dinner here. Nothing fancy, but good food and service. If you like bread, you will be well pleased. Good, attentive service as well. Virginia Tech was on break, so that may be why it was so quiet.

Stopped in for late lunch. I would say gone early for a wide selection of choices. What we were able to get was great! Afterward, we ordered some treats from the bakery, and it did not disappoint. There were so many choices and they all looked delicious!
