Quite a limited menu. Food was tasty but I felt it was a little pricey for what you got. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Both were fine.

This restaurant is located at the lobby of the Topnotch Resort. I received excellent service from Pablo. The food was also very good. If you are in the area, this place should be considered for a meal as it will probably be less crowded than...other restaurants in the Stowe area depending on the seasonMore
One decent appetizer and four terrible entrees. Ahi Tuna Nachos were tasty and flavorful. Only complaint was the portion size. Three of us ordered Steak Frites and one person ordered the Fish & Chips. The steak was a uniformly bad cut across all three plates,...was tough, and not flavorful. The fish was soggy and cooked just enough to make it edible. The server was attentive and friendly but I would not recommend eating here, especially given the enormous price tag for food that would be better at a Chili’s or a 99 Restaurant. Extremely disappointing and a waste of money.More
Average food with good service. The hummus appetizer was really good and the burger/fries was good enough. Service was friendly and efficient.
We stopped in for a drink and ordered the Vermont cheese board. Please don’t attempt to order this! First it wasn’t a board it was a plate of stale bread, unwashed blueberries, 3 green olives, 5 slices of meat. The cheese was okay, but such...a horrible presentation and the service was lousy! I wish I took a pic :(More
We stopped here for lunch on a foliage trip back in early October when the leaves and the weather were both really beautiful. It's located at the Topnotch Resort in Stowe, Vermont. The restaurant was open for outdoor dining which was a nice surprise since...the view of the trees and mountains is spectacular. The menu is unique and eclectic, something for everyone. We tried the Beet Poke Salad and the Crab Rangoon Dip. Both were very good. Service was a bit slow, probably because the summer season was over? Glad we stopped by.More
We happened upon this place for lunch while taking a scenic ride. The lunch was exceptional and the service was very friendly.
Is it a restaurant? The menu and prices say yes. Is it a bar? A sports bar? A noisy game room for indulged unattended children? Yes. Yes. And yes. The problem is that The Roost attempts to be all of these things, and, unfortunately for...those of us who wish it was a restaurant and went there to eat dinner, the only thing it succeeds at being is a noisy game room for indulged, unattended children. Don't go the Roost for dinner, unless you have indulged children who you don't want to see while you eat. The food is ok, but overpriced. The service was ok, though our mains arrived almost immediately after our appetizer and I had to send them back because we weren't close to ready for them. The wine list is very limited --all $10 bottles at the liquor store, but over $50 on the menu. In Stowe, in March, on a Tuesday during the pandemic there aren't many options for dinner out. The Roost should be your last resort, not your top choice. Get a bite at The Bench instead, where the food is reliable and the price value a known quantity.More
The Roost sits within the Topnotch resort, in a gorgeous, modern room, with floor to ceiling glass, a fireplace, and a full bar. It was all architecturally pleasing, appearing to be promising at first glance. There were nicer tables near the windows, but they were...filled with dirty plates, uncleared. No one made moves to clean them, so we were seated next to the unlit fireplace. It was a snowy day, and the place not very crowded and we found odd that it sat black and cold. Upon being seated my friend excused herself to the ladies. Right away the waiter comes to take our order. I tell him I’d like to wait for my friend who hadn’t looked at the menu yet, and clearly wasn’t seated. He looked wounded by me pointing out the obvious. The whole meal was filled with odd, off-tempo exchanges, as if the staff had never worked in food service. The food was expensive and just ok. My friend’s beer was served warm. No one checked on us, ever, so she was left to approach the bar herself and take it into her own hands to get a replacement. As our poorly trained waiter folded napkins at the bar, the tables remained dirty and we languished, waiting for the heavy check. Overall, the Roost could be and should be so much better. A missed opportunity for the resort.More
Enjoyed a day with a friend. Had lunch at the Roost. While the service was very good, we both had a very expensive soggy salad. Was told it was huge and delicious, far from it. Won't return, many other good choices in Stowe.
The waiter had no idea what he was doing. They didn’t have two of the three draft beers that our table ordered but only told us about one and gave my mother a mystery beer. He didn’t ask my stepfather how he wanted his burger...(it came out well done with no cheese). He didn’t ask what we wanted as sides. They just gave everyone fries. We waited for an HOUR for some sandwiches and two tacos. The tacos were dry, cold, flavorless and underfilled. The BLT had half a slice of bacon on each half and was over toasted and dry. Way too expensive for sub par food.More
We ate at The Roost several times on a recent trip to Topnotch. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as in-room dining. Everything we ate was very delicious. For breakfasts we had the avocado toast, muffin, the classic breakfast, and a waffle. We...ordered cheeseburgers and fries for in-room dining, with the hummus appetizer and wings. We ate on-site for one night and had the cheese and charcuterie board and the chicken tacos. One day we ordered lunch (salads) and they were delivered to us at the pool. Everything we ate was delicious! I felt like the menu was limited, especially after eating there for several meals in a row, and the prices were high for what the menu items were. A special shout out to all the servers - they all really went above and beyond to make the experience really great for us, especially Lindsey. The restaurant itself seemed a little short-staffed and the wait times for food were long, especially during dinner service, even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded.More
We have summered in Stowe for many years and have always included TopNotch restaurants as regular stops when eating out. The last two summers have been impacted by covid so this year we were wondering how restaurants were coping. While the primary Flannel Restaurant remains...closed, The Roost has significantly upped its game. There were new staff and a new menu. We selected the hummus plate appetizer to start which was excellent, tasty, fresh and attractively prepared. We chose the White Fish Tacos with fries as our main. The Tacos were scrumptious, easy to eat and very well prepared with just enough Codfish and dressing. The fries were the best we have had so far. Afterwards, we both agreed that The Roost had very noticeably upped their game. Perhaps the new chef has had a hand in the welcome change.More
We were guests at Topnotch and ate at the Roost for three meals and visited the bar twice. We would have visited the bar two more times but they allowed kids with parents to take the few seats available during this COVID season. Is that...even legal?? If it is or isn't, there were tables open for families but these men had their kids seated at the bar while under 18 crowd did not watch games and instead perused their phones and ate kids meals while we took our money to other local bars to watch NCAA March Madness games. We enjoyed the food when we did eat there: fish tacos, salads, outstanding burger...Bartenders are great - especially Brian and lunch time table waiter,More
Had dinner reservations on a snowy night. Wonderful Chicken Schnitzel and my husband and sons got the Large Grill Platter with bratwurst, knackwurst , Austrian potato salad, sauerkraut. We shared the radish starter. It was quite different, but good. The wine list and beer flight...was fun. Felt very safe and seating was ver distanced. A fun place with good food.More
