Very nice restaurant serving delicious German themed entrees along good selection of wines / beers. Fast friendly service with large portions at reasonable prices. I had the boneless ribeye which was delicious accompanied by a cold Kolsch beer.

Stopped here for a quick bite of lunch. It was a beautiful snowy Saturday. They had a fire going outside which was a nice touch for snowshoers and cross country skiers. We had a cider and partner had soda. Bavarian pretzels, cheese soup n bratwurst...with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes rounded out lunch. All good. Attentive servers and open and light filled room.More
Absolute must visit if you’re in the area! Food was outstanding and somehow the beer was even better. The atmosphere was so cozy and there was something for everyone. Absolutely will be back next time we’re in the area!
While staying at the Von Trapp Family Lodge, we ate here twice and were pleasantly surprised. Being a chef, I'm more often disappointed than not when eating out. For lunch we tried the Von Trapp burger, mini salads and pretzels. All decent. For dinner we...had brats and the salmon. My mom, who has eaten plenty of brats in her day (having been stationed in Germany twice), said it was the best bratwurst she has ever had. As we were walking out, we noticed the grill master was outside of the kitchen where customers could see the brats and burgers being cooked. My salmon was cooked perfectly (as was my burger for lunch). I am gluten free so asked if I could have it over the sauerkraut mashed potatoes rather than the farro. They also brought me freshly cooked vegetables because they were usually mixed in with the farro. All the food was fantastic, as was the service, and the white wine on tap for $10/glass wasn't too bad either! No picts of diner, but I do have lunch picts.More
We stopped here on our way to our accommodations. Very pretty room and staff were very nice but not very attentive. Could be because they are short staffed? My husband ordered bratwurst and sauerkraut mashed potatoes, which he enjoyed. I had a Cobb salad. The...accompaniments were very good but I had to pick through my lettuce and pick out at least a third of the mushy lettuce. I would return and try something else. Was a nice lunch.More
It’s really more of a sports bar, and maybe that’s the vibe they were going for. We were there in October, and I was thinking Octoberfest…but it’s the least beer hall bier hall I’ve been to. Not a pair of Lederhosen in the place. They...serve German food but were playing 90’s rock. That said, the staff was attentive and friendly. The pretzels, beer cheese dip, sauerkraut, and brat were all great. The chicken schnitzel was just ok, and the beer cheese soup weak. Their beers, however, are very good. If you’re staying on the property, it’s certainly worth a meal.More
Visited given we were in Stowe and have also been to Salzburg in Austria, where we went on a SoM tour and saw a lot of Von Trapp locations. We had a great time this evening, great food and a really good atmosphere. The pilsner...is schön gut! I would happily come back again - it really is a bit of Austria 🇦🇹 with a lot of Vermont. 🍺🥨🍺🥨More
Not far away is a coffee house that also serves beer. This is a restaurant that serves beer but also coffee but the coffee was not very good. I hunch the coffee house they have might be better. I loved the beer. They give small...sizes if you ask and want to try a few. Wonderful view from the large patio and most of all just the history.More
Beer was great staff was on point the grounds were very nice beautiful views too chill and relax we had a few appetizers everything was good
Really great food and beer. For the adventitious, some favorite German/Austrian selections. For the less adventurous, some American favorites. Plenty of beer to suit everyone’s tastes. Only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that it’s a little bit pricy.
We arrived before they got busy. I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich with Austrian potato salad and a Vienna style lager. The sandwich bun was very good and the very lightly breaded schnitzel was perfect, imo. The potato salad was good as well but, I...tasted my partner’s braised cabbage and, next time, I’ll definitely order that. 5 of us shared 2 desserts: apfelstrudel and linzertorte. Excellent! I enjoyed the lager and left with a variety pack. A wonderful day in Stowe, a wonderful place to enjoy a meal.More
Fun place to dine, and very convenient for those staying at the Trapp Family Lodge. Reservations are recommended.
Revolting decor of "trophy heads" and whole stuffed taxidermy animals. From Africa nonetheless! Someone will probably respond to this post with "it's an Austrian tradition..." or whatnot. But this is USA not Austria. African trophy hunting in the year 2023 is outdated, horrific, AND illegal!!!...Even if the heads are "antiques" (wich I doubt they are) there is just NO excuse to diaplay this in a VT brewery! And you canot say they are antoqies and that Johannes likes to hunt. It is obviously his "trophies" and that is disgusting! It is not a VT appeal. And, so ironic since the Von Trapp's don't allow hunting on their land. Take the heads and animals down! Display them in your private residence!!This is not an appeal to the public and I sure hell want to make a stink out of this.More
We wanted to tour the Hotel Grounds and Gift Shop and dine even though we did not stay there. We enjoyed perusing all the art work and shopping in the gift shop. We had made reservations for dinner. To set the Australian mood, we all...had the Werner Schnitzel which was very good. The beet salad with goat cheese was wonderful.More
