Located on Historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah, Tona provides a big city taste in a friendly and relaxed setting. Every bit as good as their reputation.

This restaurant is outstanding. A very peaceful feeling up entering. Lovely chop sticks on the tables. An attentive waitstaff. A large menu. I loved the extensive Tapas listing and ordered tempura veggies and a salmon dish. As others have said, the tempura was light and delicious. My small salmon plate was very tasty and the salmon was so fresh (I had been a little worried about that). My husband loved his 2 Maki rolls. We were there on a Monday night when edamame was complementary, and, that was a big treat. Having read about crowds and long waits, I would recommend diners make reservations and just note that Monday night seemed like a quiet night.

Fresh and flavorful

They only take reservations on certain nights. We arrived at 530 and it was already a 45 min wait for a table but luckily we snagged the last 2 seats at the bar which was cool because we could watch them work. Everything we had was so delicious. The green grinch roll was so fresh and flavorful and the coconut crunch was so good! My husband got the Red Devil and it was incredibly spicy. All the nigiri was amazing. The only drawback was our waitress. We both ran out of water and it took her forever to refill. We wanted to order more sushi but she was never around. Even just adding on a few pieces of nigiri was a 30-45 min wait. So expect to spend a good amount of time there. I was done with my first 2 rolls long before my husband received his food. I would still highly recommend!

Great Ogden Surprise

I walked across the parking lot to this restaurant, mostly out of sheer convenience. What a treat! I did not know I was visiting one of the top-rated restaurants in Utah. The menu is really fun. The appetizers were great. They offer Japanese tapas which I highly recommend. Try the Bubble Gum pork! The sushi was really good, as well. I would not classify them as authentic Japanese. Rather, they'd be nouveau Japanese, or Japanese Fusion--all the dishes have a fun, interesting twist to them. I enjoyed it so much, I went there the next day with my son. We'll definitely return. Be advised that sometimes it can be tough to get a table, so plan ahead.

The food here is 10/10, some of the best sushi we have ever had. My god those Grinch rolls and bone marrow were to die for, so many interesting flavours. These chefs deserve a raise! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is due to the unwelcoming nature of some of the staff, particularly our server (a male with brown hair). Granted we did walk in at 9:10pm (kitchen closes at 9:30) however there were still lots of people in the restaurant. I don’t know if it was our Australian accents but we were treated very poorly (in my opinion) and felt unwelcome. I totally understand that Australians have reputation for not tipping as it’s not part of our culture however we have lived in Canada for the past 2 years and aren’t foreign to this. I am not sure if this was the reason for our servers rudeness or if he had just had a bad day. All in all excellent food, if we are ever back in town we will drop in again for some more grinch rolls.

It's a Sushi restaurant

Yep, it's a Sushi restaurant. It's ok, but nothing special, definitely not worth parking in Ogden for. Sit in the main room and get load music, load people, cold from the door opening. Or go for the semi-private room, and sit on a plank for two hours. The semi-private room is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Food is ok. Edible, but nothing that I'd write home about. Service was excellent.

New favorite restaurant

Five friends in town for a ski trip and our ski instructor, rental agent and cashier at the local grocery recommend Tona so we had to go and we are so glad we did. The sushi, soup, salad, entrees and cheesecake are all amazing.. Oh, and the rice tots are a must! All fresh, quality ingredients. Service was also great. We are here for a week and will definitely make multiple trips to Tona...

The ONLY Sushi to eat in Ogden

Sit at the sushi bar and enjoy the food. Remember, we are in UT, not near any big fish markets, but somehow this restaurant finds fresh, delicious food. They get a little ambitious with their creations but I don't think you will regret trying some of the specials. I suggest you go with the less "busy" creations as you will get the best fish experience that way. I've lived in the area for one year and it was a Gd send!

Best meal we had in Ogden!

After reading all of the reviews we figured we would give Tona a try. We we NOT disappointed. The sushi was super fresh with a ton of choices, the garlic edamame was yummy and the drinks were tasty too! I would not hesitate to choose Tona!!

Excellent sushi and great service

Went in for dinner - went early as we heard it was a busy place - got there around 5 and the place was almost full already. Had a wonderful server, Jordan M, he was very good at recommending menu items and saki. Everything was great. Really enjoyed the rock and roll sushi roll

My favorite sushi in Ogden

Love this place, specially seating at the Japanese style tables. The veggie roll is the best for me. The garlic edamame delicious and service always grate. Social distance in practice here, keep it up!👍🏻

Delicious Sushi

Very few places open on a Monday in Ogden. So we went here. It was terrific. Sushi was fresh and flavorful. Service was good from Jaimie. And the menu is diverse and creative. The Chef's choice Nigiri was great. Our favorite rolls were the Cherry Blossom and the Grinch. They also offer local beer from Rooster's

Great Sushi

We walked in without reservations and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but it was worth it. Best sushi we have had in a long time. Great service too. We were staying in Eden and this restaurant is worth coming out of the canyon for!

Great Sushi Place

Wife and I took our 12 year old grandson here and we all loved it. the Bacon Bubble Gum and Gyoza were good. We all had different sushi dishes and all of us were happy. Staff was friendly and helpful could not have been better

Run don’t walk

We had a fabulous meal start to finish. Signed up for the waitlist. Had a beer nearby, walked in when we were texted and were seated immediately as requested at the sushi bar. We live in a place with great sushi restaurants and are a bit spoiled- our bar is set fairly high. Our service was impeccable- pleasant, attentive and accurate. The food was great. Good quality fish and well prepared, with lots of options. Would definitely recommend.
