Solid Neighborhood Mex, Worth Finding

This is a good Mexican restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. It is clean and comfortable. The food is solid and very good. You are not going to get anything fancy or trendy here, just classic Mexican food, very well prepared, the kind of food I grew up with. The cheese enchiladas were far superior, and more classic, than the ones I had at a more "trendy" restaurant recently. The prices are reasonable, and the place is comfortable and clean. The service really shines, everyone was friendly and helpful. This was my first visit to Ernesto's but as it is close to my mother's assisted living facility and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, I am sure we will be back whenever I am back in town to visit.

A very good TexMex restaurant. Friendly staff and owner usually on site. The cheese enchiladas are my favorite.

Always feel welcome and appreciated. All menu items are amazing! Been eating here for over 10 years and never disappointed. Ernesto and family are all very friendly.

Casual, friendly, clean, private room which will hold maybe 40? Found this place in the recommendation of a friend. Friendly wait staff, Jessica in particular. Good chips and salsa. We were a party of 20 and it all went very smoothly. Mildly spicy. Typical Tex-Mex. Carne asada, mole, chicken and beef enchiladas all good. Maybe a go back if in the neighborhood.

Very tasty fajita!

I saw this place quite by accident and checked out reviews which are very positive and decided to give it try. So, we went for dinner on a Friday night and it quite busy with families. It's a casual place that is not pretentious in any way. Chips and salsa were very good--chips were not greasy and the salsa had a bite but was not overly hot. Very flavorful. I liked it a lot. We started with bean and cheese nachos which the wife was not impressed with but I thought they were good for what they are, bean and cheese. If we ordered the deluxe it would have more flavor, but I wanted something simple. We ended up there during happy hour so my house frozen was only $4. The wife's house rocks was $6, not a happy hour price but regular price, still a good deal. They were flavorful and not medicinal, plus had a kick. I had the chicken fajita and it was among the best I ever had. Chicken was tender, flavorful and tasty. Really, really, good and at $12.95 it was a deal. The wife had the enchiladas Plobanas (yes, that is how you spell it) which were chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. She was not impressed with the mole but I thought it was not bad at all. Some other review mentioned poor quality rice and beans but I thought they were just fine. Nothing wrong with rice and beans at all IMO. Our server would disappear for periods of time but overall service was polite and friendly. I would return for sure, I liked this place a lot, more than the wife which means I am coming back here for lunches by myself.

Clean, great service, reasonable

We found ourselves at the Mega Garland license Dept of Safety with a 4 hour wait. We walked over to Ernestos. The place was very clean, service was good and very reasonable prices. We ordered a couple of the luncheon specials. The location is kind of tucked away in the strip shopping center, well worth stopping. Oh, also the salsa was delicious.

Simply the Best

I feel nothing but love when I eat at Ernesto's. The staff treat you like family, especially if its been a minute since your last visit. The food is top notch and is simply the best I've had in the 30+ years I've been in Texas.

Good and Reasonably Priced

We’ve eaten here for several years and always find the food to be good and reasonably priced. The owner and wait staff are friendly and very accommodating. There’s better places but Ernesto’s is dependents good and convenient.

Outstanding Food

First visit to Garland and our colleagues took us here for lunch. Had the fajitas and was not disappointed. Just about every restaurant in the States has fajitas but not like Ernesto's! If the rest of the food is as good then this is one of a kind Mexican food. Everyone said it was great so I can safely assume this is a superb place to eat. Friendly service, authentic food and good value. I wish I could eat here every day. Highly recommend!

Tamale dinner was my friends favorite, I got the chicken quesadilla, Very Good! My other friend got the shrimp. We all got margaritas...good & Im a margarita expert!

Good Mexican Food- Fair Prices too!

Very Good service and Mexican Food, have always had great service here and food! The atmosphere is always busy and active! Has TV Screens for sporting events very small Bar area, Family atmosphere!

We both ordered the same thing. The taco dinner platter. One chicken and one beef platter. They were good. Good flavor. The refried beans were a little runny. The crispy shells were very thick. The Queso was good but Luke warm. The salsa that comes with the chips is way too hot (spicy hot). I like hot salsa but this was just too hot.

AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE

We were up the road for a volleyball tournament and searched on here for nearby restaurants with good reviews. Ernesto's had great reviews and we certainly agree!! The service was amazing and the chips, queso and salsa were delicious. I had the cheese poblano and my husband had the combo nachos. The margaritas were super yummy, and the staff were so friendly and were always coming by checking on us. We will certainly be back when we're in the area again!!!

Delicious mexican food

We were visiting from west TX and I wanted to compare the mexican food. I had the chicken tacos and I can say they are very tasty. Servers are very friendly and ready to refill the tostada bowl and drinks. Great atmosphere, friendly environment. Will be returning when visiting family again.
