About
We'd never heard of Cuquita's but found it while looking for a place to lunch. Research revealed this is one of three locations in the Dallas area. The chain is highly rated by Texas Monthly magazine. We found the food and service excellent.

I lived in New Mexico for almost 20 years...I know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Their rice is bland...no onions, garlic or tomato. The beans were ok but needed flavor. The salsa was nice and spicy but watery thin. The ted sauce on the enchilads was very Good! The guacamole was bland....needed salt and onion and lime. Whomever thinks this is authentic Mexican food must have never eaten food in New Mexico or El Paso Texas.

My experiences with Tex-Mex in Dallas have not been good but I was encouraged when almost all the patrons in the restaurant looked to be Hispanic. My wife tried the enchaladas in red sauce but after a bite, ordered the caldo. I tried the enchalada and agreed with her. The caldo was pretty good. The Guiso De Puerco was very good as were the picante sauces and chips. The corn tortillas were homemade and were excellent but the flour tortillas tasted store-bought. Drinks were not inexpensive, domestic beer was $4, imports $5. Still looking for a good Tex-Mex in Dallas.

There are many Tex-Mex restaurants in Texas. This one is very good. The meals are very delicious, and the portions are big. It is a good place to eat.

Whenever my husband & I are craving a Chile Relleno, we come here for lunch. They have 3 locations but we usually visit the one in Garland, Tx. It's one of our favorite Mexican dishes because they are always served fresh with refried beans & Mexican rice. Their corn tortillas are also very fresh & tasty. Their waitresses are very good & attentive. We'll definitely be back in the near future.

This is a real Mexican restaurant not Tex-Mex. We like to practice our Spanish even though most of the waitress speak English. We have breakfast here at least once a month and have eaten at the Richardson and Carrollton location as well. The fresh hand made corn tortilla they bring with butter as a welcome is great and we have ordered extras to go because they are so good.
Pictured is the Guido Dr Res. Beans are better than any chain texmex. Never had any problems.

Excellent menu for a great price, the food is authentic Mexican food like Abuelita used to cook. I liked coming for lunch as it's a quick wholesome meal that is very satisfying. If you're looking for a good Mexican food restaurant look no more..... This is the place

The food was decent. The menu was a little different from a traditional Tex Mex place which was nice, but nothing really stood out to me as something I MUST HAVE again. The service was average. It probably didn't help that there was a family sitting near us with obnoxious kids making my visit not as great as it could have been. Will probably try it again at some point.

I had a nice lunch of Guiso de Res, full of flavor and filling. The handmade tortillas were a nice touch. Lunch including tip was $10.50.

I am unsure why this place doesn't have better reviews. Authentic Mexican food at good prices. The BEST re-fried beans that I've ever had. Margaritas were a little weak.
Salsa was great. My enchiladas were great and my husband said his tacos were fantastic. Our waitress had some slight trouble with English so communication was a little hard. We did have 2 Spanish speaking people with us so it worked out. I would recommend this place.

My family gathers here often just to meet up for lunch, or with a big group on the nights they have mariachis. We're usually always attended to politely and friendly. I have a favorite plate (higado encebollado [liver]) and although it's always too spicy, I love it every time! Their tortillas are made in house and they bring some out as a free appetizer right away.

I became a fan of Cuquitas in 1999 when I first moved to Dallas. They were located on Henderson with what I considered the next best thing to mama's cooking. Unfortunately after losing their lease they moved to a really bad location on Lake June Rd and the quality of the Cuquitas brand began to suffer. That location closed down. I have since been to the restaurant in Garland and I must say, the restaurant itself is beautiful but the last few times I have eaten here I have been disappointed and underwhelmed. There is nothing worse than bland Mexican food. Even the tostadas seemed like pieces of fried cardboard. Is there no more quality control? Who is supervising in the kitchen? If you want quality authentic Mexican food go elsewhere because it is no longer found here. I wish things would go back to the way they were before like it was on Henderson - great chips, great salsa, great FOOD and beautiful roses in a vase with lemons! THAT was Cuquitas not whatever it has evolved into now. Let me know when things go back to the the way they were so that I can return, otherwise "hasta la vista baby. "

Cuquita'sused to be the best place in town. But as it open more restaurants, the food as well as the service went down hill. As a loyal customer I kept going, finding excuses as to why the food didn't taste the same. Today, was the last straw. I ate my milanesa cold. Not only was my food cold, but my family's plates were as well. It is with great sadness, that I write that I no longer will be visiting Cuquita's again..

I enjoyed lunch at the Garland location. The restaurant was very clean, the staff was friendly, the service was great and the food was really tasty! It seems more authentic Mexican to me than Tex-Mex......which I found refreshing. I would definitely recommend and will be back!

Service is pitifully slow! The watery salsa is the worst. Don't bother ordering a margarita! We finally walked out because we still hadn't received our food 45 min later.
