We have been eating at the firewheel store for quite a while but over the past year or so the quality has really gone down. Today we ordered a fried catfish basket and the pieces were small the french frys were almost cold. My wife got the grilled catfish plate. The fish was good but they really cut back on the vegetables. We also ordered a side of onion rings that were way way overcooked even some were burnt. We understand the prices going up but the food quality going down does not work for us. Not sure if we will be back.

I've eaten here in the past and the food is always good.
However, if you like a bit of ambiance with your meal, this is not the place. At least, not to my taste. Very rustic and fishing oriented, which makes sense. Lol.

We got the buy-one-get-one-free coupon from the restaurant’s web site. The Flying Fish restaurant in Firewheel, Garland is nice. The cat fish basket was good.

The adventurous family drove around looking to try something new for an early dinner. Having 3 young boys who worship at the altar of the chicken nugget, it's hard to try seafood. Well the good thing is I have the wallet executive power so fish it was for this motley crew. This establishment is located in a strip mall so parking might be difficult at times. Entering you stand in line to place your order. As you walk in, dancing fish are located all over with pictures of people who caught big fish. We needed to get the boys out of the way so burgers it was for the two. Mom likes Mexican style shrimp cocktail so that order was placed. I've been wanting Cajun so jambalaya was ordered with some calamari to begin our deep sea dive. The establishment has open areas good for large parties. The bathrooms rooms are located on the opposite side of the building and they are well taken care off. As you walk all over, those fish are looking at you. The kids meals arrive in a friendly cool boat container. The calamari was brought next yet it's a tradition set up not fresh tasting. One of the two boys did NOT eat the burger because "it tasted bad." According to mom, The shrimp cocktail tasted like if it had been sitting for a while and well no bueno. Finally, the jambalaya had a generic taste with no Cajun kick. If you are selling Cajun, give me the flavor you're faking the funk. The meal was $54 and well a miss yet well try again later.

Very mediocre. Jumbo Shrimp with cornmeal breading. Barely palatable. Cole slaw was barely ok. Must be a southern type of cuisine.

Our family and friends like this spot, but quality continues to slip. Chose a hamburger ….patty was prefab and filled with questionable ingredients. Fries were cold
Thankfully In and Out was just down the street

There are a number of Flying Fish restaurants in the metroplex. They all are very good and dependable. There are so many healthy choices on the menu. Good prices too.

Grilled plates and Fish Tacos are so delicious & don’t forget the best Key Lime Pie in DFW. The wine selection is very nice and the individual bottles are excellent idea. The staff is proficient, polite and professional. I really recommend this location.

Why do I have to use 100 letters to write my review? I said what I wanted to say in the title. Six characters left.

At least once a month we come here for excellent catfish, shrimp and other fishes of the water. The folksy back woods decor makes you think you arrived just behind the dock for fresh fish. Every species of flying fish is hanging on the way along with many "true" fishing stories (with photos). This really is freshly prepared food. We like the fish tacos with fried catfish. The slaw and fried okra are icing on the cake. o many choices it's hard to decide what to get. We just like it all.

The Flying Fish is fairly good simple fish, shrimp and sides. The shrimp are decent size, but not really “jumbo” like coastal offerings. The batter on fried food is a light cornmeal, so kudos for that. I was not fond of the seafood gumbo, but my grandmother was from New Orleans, so this is likely a personal preference. Hush puppies are good, beer is cold, and sometimes we take home a banana pudding for good measure. Give it try, it is certainly better than the chain place...RL. The only thing I dislike is the far too casual dining. No atmosphere to stay awhile and talk over dinner.

I visit here periodically but I hesitate to recommend.
The fried catfish is good but the French Fries are mediocre.
I come here more by default rather than really looking forward to the visit.

As a lifetime Texas Fulf Coast resident, I was skeptical about the Garland Flying Fish hundreds of miles from the coast. My wife had the shrimp kabob skewer and I had the red snapper “snappy”. My wife really liked her shrimp. the Snapper was good—not great—and the “snappy” was not really “like blackened” as the cashier described it. It was spicy to the point that I raked off some of the spices and found the fish very tasty. The vegetables on the side weee very good. Price for two was under $30. Wait staff were friendly and the workers seemed to lenjoy their jobs.

I am one of those people who love oysters on the half shell...these are the best. Give it a try. They are also good fried. Everything here is excellent. And the prices are good too. My husband loves their catfish fillets...fried in corn meal... Give it a try.

We visited Flying Fish for lunch and both had the shrimp combo. They always do a good job so I was stunned to be served room temperature shrimp.
We were there Sunday at lunch hour and found the crowd lighter than usual but still half full.
I probably should have sent it back but did not having heard too many war stories about retaliation when food sent back.
This is our first bad experience there so will probably give them another shot.
