Asked around where we could get good tex mex food in FBG and a local recommended this place, around 500m from main street. Food was excellent, the large margaritas reaaaallyyy large, and prices more than affordable, would recommend for sure. Friendly staff, and the chips and salsa very good (and complimentary).

What kind of restaurant are you looking for in Fredericksburg, Texas? My wife and I had dinner at Campo Azul last night. Maybe it’s the right place for you? Do you want a menu with overpriced dishes? Then this place is not for you. Do you want a place with trendy decor, located in the heart of the tourist strip the locals avoid? Then this place is not for you. Do you want service that is interested only in how quickly your table can be turned over to the next diners? Then this place is not for you. But if you want a family-owned restaurant with a loyal local customer base; serving excellent Tex-Mex fare for a reasonable price; and a staff that clearly wants you to enjoy your visit, then Campo Azul is the place to go. We enjoyed delicious shrimp and fish tacos complete with abundant trimmings, following a traditional starter of tortilla chips and white chilis con qeso. The frozen margaritas were tasty and not overly potent. And we finished with an excellent tres leche. Our server could not have done a better job of making us feel welcomed. Campo Azul is located away from the busy thoroughfare of Main Street. The decor celebrates the owners’ family and heritage. One more thing: I learned from observing the regular customers why real Texans wear cowboy hats indoors: because you need both hands free to eat an outstanding meal!

Just visiting Fredericksburg for two days and, because of Covid, we didn’t want to eat in a restaurant. We ordered potato and egg tacos from the drive through and then had a little picnic. The tacos were a large portion with fresh potatoes and perfectly cooked eggs and the price was quite reasonable. The red sauce was a bit spicy but very tasty. All in all, the perfect breakfast for us. Going back again tomorrow!

Although the food is still outstanding, the new location on Hwy 87 is much noisier, the tables for 4 are smaller (too small for four meals, especially fajitas!) and the service is not up to par... they're just too busy to pay attention. Our server walked past our empty water glasses and pile of trash several times and still didn't pick them up or offer to fill up the cups, and after we asked for leftover boxes, she didn't bring the ticket .. thank good they had numbers on the table so the cashier could find our order!

We found this restaurant to be a quiet spot frequent by locals, and free from noisy weekend tourists or annoying groups of Bachelorette parties. It is a large open area decorated with paintings of scenes from Mexican country life. All the tables and chairs are spaced out for safe dining and everybody wears a mask, once seated the service was fast and friendly, with the obligatory corn chips and salsa appearing like magic. We ordered Menudo with all the fixings, bacon, poached eggs, and refried beans topped with cheese, egg, and bacon with home-style fried potatoes which were crispy on the outside perfectly cooked on the inside, a side of avocado and a very tasty bowl of Chili. The tortillas both corn and flower were fresh, and this was one of the best breakfasts we had enjoyed in a long time. Our icy cold adult beverage of choice was a constant stream of Negro Model’s Will defiantly be coming back next time we are in Fredericksburg. TIP: For vegetarians, there are many tasty items on the menu to choose from. If you’ve found this review helpful, I would appreciate a thumbs up below.

Most of food was cold, one guy had to send his fish back bc it was cold. My husband had fish tacos that were over cooked. I had cheese enchiladas that were good but my rice and guacamole had NO flavor. We will not be back here.

We're locals and like their food. Good enchiladas and pulled pork dishes. But, tonight the service was very inattentive. They weren't busy and we were seated right away, but had to wait quite awhile for anyone to wait on us. We had to finally flag someone down for menus. Also, had to walk around other tables to find salt and pepper because no one checked on us after our food was served. The drinks were just so-so. We ordered (and were charged for) top-shelf margaritas, but they didn't taste like it at all. Too many staff were just visiting among themselves, ignoring the customers.

They offered both lengua & barbacoa here. So, he got 1 & I got the other. Both were great. However, We both preferred the Lengua. We got guacamole that tasted a bit off, but they brought more & it was great. Im sure it’s easy to run across a bad avocado, though. The parking was a bit tight. We went before the rush & were able to get a great spot, tho. Verizon is right next door w/a big lot & it would probably be a good time to deal w/any cell phone issues. We will go back here.

We just get "take out" during the pandemic, but loved their drive-up window on the side of their building. Just call in your order ahead of time and drive thru to pick it up. Love their chicken enchiladas verde... so delicious, even as a take-out meal.

When our other Mexican restaurant temporarily closed, we switched our weekly breakfasts to Campo Azul. It is now our permanent place. Food quality, quantity, and cleanliness is at the top, with personable waiters every visit. Tried it one evening (photo) and same great food and attitude. We're even noticing some of the other patrons from the other place have switched over!

Eat in or outside. (Wait stuff do not where face masks) We enjoyed everything. Chicken salad sandwich, Roast beef, Penini, pasta salad. The pizza looked great, and everyone said it was really good.

It’s hard to reconcile the good reviews with our experience. Food was mediocre at best. Chips and salsa, enchiladas - all mediocre. Brightly lit cavernous dining room was harsh. Overall, we were looking for decent Mexican food, but couldn’t wait to leave.

My friend and I stopped in here for dinner. I had the chimichanga with rice and beans and he had a taco salad. Food was quite good and good service also. We thought it was good and we would go again if we were ever in the area again.

Went for dinner with family on a trip to Fredericksburg The good: all staff was really nice. Good people. Good chips and tortillas. The bad: food was very bland. Way under seasoned. Soft drinks all tasted off. Wife said the margarita was gross. And my 4 year old got stomach issues after eating there. Verdict: wouldn’t go back
