If you're looking for a hip, trendy Austin BBQ emporium, this ain't it. But if you want top-notch traditional Texas BBQ, you've come to the right place!
The brisket is slow-smoked, no knives needed or provided. Sauce is good enough to order some to take home (we did.)
And the atmosphere is just good down-home comfortable, with outdoor seating that fits today's social distance needs.

This restaurant is a solid choice for barbecue. However, the unorthodox layout of the restaurant and their processes make it a challenge to enjoy. I would try to avoid peak hours as the hassle and wait will make you want to go home and make your own barbecue faster. A large order of patience may be standard with your order. The ribs are the best choice for the meats. We found the brisket and the sausage to have too much spice. The onion rings, potato salad and fries were the best sides. Pricing was about right for most menu items. You will not be paying for the atmosphere. Was this the best barbecue I have ever had? Nope. However, with some patience and hassle, you can find some good choices on the menu!

Six years ago I said I was done with this place, but after my wife brought home some very good ribs several months ago, I decided to give them another visit.
So me and the wife went this evening. I ordered the brisket and sausage combo. She wanted brisket and ribs but the meat man said they were out of ribs, so she got the same as me. After plating her brisket and sausage, the meat man noticed that there were four ribs left so he just gave them to her. BONUS!!! She had the potato salad, ranch style beans and green beans sides and I the ranch style beans and double potato salad. All dinners come with a pickle, sweet onion and a slice of bread.
Everything was very good and there was plenty of it. The rib meat fell right off the bone. Brisket was tender and juicy and so was the sausage. All nice and smoky. Sides were also very good. Service is cafeteria style. We will be back. :-)

Not much has changed at Railhead FTW. Ribs are still good. Brisket is decent. Sausage is probably best meat. Usually would give a 4 star rating but the sides are tiny. The portion size is ridiculous compared to what it was and what others are serving. Little styrofoam cup most restaurants use to put sauce or pickles in. Only a few spoonfuls of beans or potato salad. Beer still ice cold and inexpensive. Service good.

Took a friend here for lunch for his birthday. It was packed on a Friday at noon but not surprised. You get in line and order your food and pay for it and then take it to a table to eat. I had the ribs and bologna with potato salad, fries & fried onions. My friend had a bologna sandwich.
The bologna was very average. Really not much smoke flavor. It could have been warmed up in a microwave and I couldn't tell the difference. The ribs on the other hand were excellent. Meat fell off the bone. The potato salad was average. Not bad but nothing stood out. When I ordered the fries and fried onions I was expecting something like a mixture of fries and fried onion strips. What I got was a mound of fries with a blob of caramelized onions on top of them. Not sure what the draw is for that but I sure didn't see any. I like caramelized onions as much as the next guy but prefer them on something like a burger. On top of a pile of very average french fries that weren't even crispy, not so much. I should have gotten the green beans or cole slaw.
If I went back, it would be for the ribs and maybe to try the brisket but nothing else was memorable in a good way. The "Very Good" rating was for the ribs. Without them, it would have been very "Average".

Our first visit to Railhead and we are Ft Worth residents. My husband is on adventure to check out the top 💯 bbq joints.
The food was delicious, meat fell off the bone. I would recommend Railhead.
However as good as the food is the customer service was just average.

I drive 45 minutes just to get to Railhead. It is my favorite place for pork ribs by far. Normally the ribs are fantastic. But today the ribs were so fatty I actually scraped the layer off the meat. That much fat. I always get the rib plate and an ice cold beer with tator salad , pinto beans and jalapeño.thr beer is Ice Cold and I do mean ice cold. Best tip I can give you is go sit at the bar. You can order from your bartender. This girls are dynamite!

A month ago, had the 1/2 chicken. I didn't know they produce chicken that small. The little legs had very little meat on them. They were also so dry. The brisket has been dried lately had to use more sauce just to get it down. French fried and beer is still the best. I want to bring back the good old day when Ft Worth was the Bar b q place.
It bad when Spring creek has better brisket than the Railhead. I will still go they're my wife love the Turkey sandwiches. My wife and I go once month. Sorry but true.

rib order with fries i picked up to go. i should have stopped shortly and sampled the food. the fries were soggy and tasted like an abomination of sweet potato though they weren’t. the 4 little ribs had a so-called smoked/bar-b-que crust that was rock hard and thicker than the little bit of meat below it. more like, how much can we get away with and still get the customer’s money? what a joke of a place, but i’m not laughing,

I love the Saturday Special the chicken melts off the bones. It’s unbelievable how moist the chicken is. The Ribs are also fantastic. The food is awesome.
The only reason it’s no a 5 star, because it’s too popular. Every time I go there, It’s always crowded. And there is always a long line for ordering.
They need to post somewhere their slow hours of business. Because there’s always a line during lunch and dinner.

The Ribs were off the chart delicious. Tender, juicy, full of flavor, with a bark. This is the place to eat ribs in Fort Worth. Big ol’ ice cold frosty mugs for your beer.

Get the ribs!!! This place is great! Make sure to go through the line to order and get your food then go find a table to sit at. Don’t wait on the waitress to take your order and you will enjoy your experience much more. I’ve cold beer, real fries and amazing ribs!!!

How can you mess up a BBQ Sandwich? They did. We ask for a Slices Beef Sandwich
all the way. That should have ( from past experiences ) mustard, onion, pickle and
BBQ Sauce. When we got to the table it was meat and bread only. I went back and ask for some pickles & onion. They had onion but were out of pickles. Yea right. I also had to ask for plasticware, and napkins. I feel from the murmuring when I ask for my french fries to be well done it hacked the cook off. We have patronised the Railhead
for years but will not be back.

I've been here many times through the years. It's my favourite for ribs etc. Last year I think I gave it 4. The ribs were not as juicy as I was used to. (No pun intended). This time it was like last year, missing the peak quality a little. But what let it down to a 3 were the fries. Not hot, not crispy but tasting like they were made long before. So I'll probably try once more before leaving or go to Angelo's!

Upon advice from a local my wife and I stopped for lunch. As others have mentioned you place your order at a counter , and take it to a table to eat. We both had sliced beef. The portions were generous and the pricing average. The beef was juicy and flavorful. The bbq sauce was different but ok. The fries were soggy and the Cole and potato salad were nothing special.
