We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation and were thankful they seated us early. The noise level in the restaurant was a little loud so not sure I’d recommend this for a romantic vibe but I was on a girls weekend and it was perfect. Food was outstanding! Everything we ordered was delicious - the tenderloin, chicken and tomato, and salmon were hits. Our service wasn’t what I expected for this venue however which is why I gave it a 4 and not 5. Our waiter didn’t stop by often and forgot to put in one of the appetizers we ordered. We went to the rooftop bar after dinner and the service was really bad and the drinks weren’t very good. I don’t think the bartenders were enjoying their jobs. I would come back for the food because it was so good!!

If you are tired of Tex Mex or steak during your trip to DFW, I highly recommend Reata. It’s actually a South West restaurant which isn’t a cuisine that is seen much in Texas. They draw influences from Tex Mex and steak, but the food goes beyond those groups in a very delicious way. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu. We were served by Jaylynn, and they made several amazing drink recommendations.

Still operating at 50% to capacity - but the first floor dining area was relatively full on a chilly Tuesday evening. Fun and energetic servers plus a great dinner. The lovely Mrs enjoyed her pepper-crusted tenderloin and I had the chef's filet special. Both cooked properly. Moulton cake with berries and ice cream to cap a great night. Thanks Reata for a special night.

The one thing they have is ambiance, very western and if your party is big enough you can reserve a private room. The private rooms are spacious and quiet, making group dinners more enjoyable. I would rate the food average at best. Most dishes are complicated for the sake of being complicated. The starters (appetizers) some taste great, some not so much. The tamales are a signature starter for the restaurant, I have tried them on two occasions on different days of the week. Both times I have found them to be dry and devoid of the typical tamale flavor. They complicate a typically easy dish with a pecan mash, and the tamale has been clearly been reheated in the microwave. At fifteen dollars for three, I expect the flavor to be top shelf. The Cesar salad was above average according to my wife. Most entrees come with mashed potatoes and the meat is placed on top of the the potatoes. Muddling the flavor of the meat, masking it with a potato taste. When I occasion a restaurant on this level I expect the steak to be top shelf. The problem I had is that the only cut of steak I could find on the menu is Rib-eye. Not my favorite cut of meat, but I have different versions of their Rib-eyes twice. This time the steak was more fat than meat, I understand the Rib-eye is marbled for flavor. But the amount on the steak was unnecessary, I would suggest other restaurants for a good steak in Sundance Square. When you make it to dessert, you find again they have over complicated the most simple course of the meal. I would not choose to eat here, but will if coerced by friends.

I've highly reviewed Reata before, not a good experience this time. Hosted a couple on the rooftop which was nice to start. Unfortunately the service was slow, the food was delivered cold and our Carne Asada (2 of us) was mostly silver skin and gristle - barely edible. Really disappointed, $200 check for a $20 experience.

We have mixed feelings about Reata. We like the setting, especially the roof top, but the last 3 visits the food just hasn't been up to the same level that established their reputation. For example, 3 times back I had the carne asada and enchiladas plate. The cheese enchiladas were cold. The next time I asked that they be sure the cheese enchiladas were hot...they came out cold.....I thought I'd try them again this past weekend and once again they were cold. There was 8 of us in our party this last visit and everyone thought their food was just OK. Service was on par for a restaurant in this price range. Would we go back? Hmmm...maybe for cocktails and an appetizer.

My husband and I had Reata catering our wedding reception this past weekend. We couldn't have made a better decision. Reata catering team was amazing during the prewedding planning as they were always responsive and accommodating to changes. One of our worries about booking a caterer was knowing that we would likely be making last minute changes with all of the unknown consequences of COVID, and they were completely understanding. The food was also TO DIE for. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how it was some of the best wedding food they had ever had. We had beef tenderloin tamales, chicken and vegatable skewers, salad, jalepeno cheddar grits, seasoned veggies, and an assortment of buiscuts. YUM

Top notch restaurant. This place is great. I loved the upscale ambiance and Western decor. We had the homemade soups tamales and my business partner had Carne Asada enchiladas while I had the Avocado salad with steak. My steak was perfectly prepared with small medallions of very flavorful meat. The tamales were presented as an appetizer in a very different way but were very good. I will come back to here for sure!

Went here for lunch with a customer and friend. I’ve only eaten here this one time. We got there a little after 11 am and no one was there. They put us in a nice corner table. My back was facing the seating area. When we left about 45 minutes later the place was packed with a line forming. The menu was great. I had the meatloaf which I would order again. It was very big and I took half of it home with me. My customer, who comes here a lot, says that everything is good. He ordered a plate that had fruit, salad and a chicken breast. The fruit was really ripe, fresh and juicy. I’ll probably try that next time. I only visit here every few months so I’m going to suggest this place every time. I’ll be back.

Had heard rave reviews about Reata. It didn’t live up to the hype. My $50.00 14 oz ribeye was a very small, half-inch thick steak that was gristly and fatty. Grocery store quality. Think Ponderosa Steak House….. that’s what I got. My wife’s peppercorn fillet was so covered with peppercorn that we had to scrape it off. Won’t be back. Seriously disappointed. However, great cocktails, and mashed potatoes, were killer! Not what we went for though. Far better steaks elsewhere.

Birthday Dinner for my youngest son, started off with a great Vodka cocktail and some grilled quail over grits, the quail were fine but the grits were outstanding. Had a big ribeye for dinner, son had a large ribeye, wife had fish, all very good plates with very big portions. Great atmosphere and great service!

Held our business Christmas party there twice in the last three years. It’s difficult to get 40 meals spot on in such events but they manage to pull it off without a hitch. Great atmosphere and very good food. Only reason for not being a 5 star review is that I rarely give restaurants that level of a review unless it’s mind blowing, but still great food here. Candied Bacon Lollipops are amazing appetizers.

My wife and I went to the Reata tonight for our 37th wedding anniversary and we both ordered one of our favorite items, the Chicken Chili Rellenos with cream corn. It was totally different than how they use to make it. We even bought the Cowboy in the Kitchen cookbook years ago and made that item ourselves. The new way they are making it is simply shredded chicken breast inside a pepper topped with cheese. No petite diced tomatoes or red chili sauce. No flavor. The other missing item was the cow camp creamed corn. Now, they include a different corn chowder which lacks flavor and they put everything on a bed of Spanish rice. When I go to the Reata, I expect what I used to get - incredibly unique and flavorful items. Tonight, our food was average Tex-Mex. What happened? Is the head chef gone? It’s hard to imagine us returning to a place whose food is much different than it used to be.

The good stuff- nice atmosphere and the service was above average. The let down, though, was the quality of food versus the price. Ordered bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were very tough and overcooked. We all ordered 14 oz ribeyes and the meat had a lot of inedible gristle and fat. It was a large portion of meat just not the excellent quality for a $50 steak. The mashed potatoes and veggies were just okay. I did have a cocktail and it was very good.

Warm welcoming since the beginning, it had a very quick service and the dishes were most tasty. The signature dishes were very good, would definitely recommend you to try them, yet the portions were too generous. Overall, very good service.
