Fearings, with native Kentuckian Chef Dean Fearing at the helm, is simply the finest restaurant experience in the Dallas Fort Worth area. We have enjoyed evenings, brunches, lunches, Teas, and Holiday events, for many years, dating back to Chef Fearing's tenure at The Mansion at Turtle Creek, with Dean's signature sentiment, traditional and contemporary offerings, attitude and atmosphere, kindness and excellence in person, recipe, ingredients, staff, decor, attention and love. The man is the real deal~ Welcome to a blessed and beloved part of the very Heart of Texas, Fearings, y'all.

Dined here for dinner in late December 2023. The meal was excellent. The aguachile for an appetizer and the buffalo and antelope for entrees were particular standouts. The bread service is also exceptional and plentiful. The service was efficient and professional and despite multiple, different servers attending to our table, nothing was mixed up. The wine list is solid, and the sommelier was spot-on in suggesting a Greek wine we were unfamiliar with, but paired perfectly with our entrees. The selection of non-alcoholic drinks was also impressive. The only hiccup was the after-dinner whiskey list. They were out of my first two choices but they kindly offered an upgraded substitute at no extra charge that was outstanding. Again, everything about the service was perfect, and the food matched it. (We also dined here for breakfast two mornings, and again, the food and service were flawless. Our breakfast server, Laura, was particularly good, and the second day she remembered what we preferred in terms of food, coffee, etc.)

We celebrated here for Valentine’s Day with a prix fixe menu that featured a duck Wellington as the signature dish. Impeccable service and excellent wine pairings. Great service in a gorgeous dining room and even got to meet Chef Fearing as he walked the room.

Beyond disappointing, Fearing's is a shadow of its former self. If you're looking for atmosphere, wonderful food and expert service, go elsewhere because you will not find anything remotely resembling those traits at Fearing's. I brought a group of colleagues to dinner from around the country and was not only embarrassed by how truly terrible the food and service were, but was angry to have then paid $1200 for the privilege. Throughout the night, 1980's rock is blaring loudly in the formal dining room, making conversation difficult, and the atmosphere weird and awkward. That soundtrack works at the Rattlesnake Bar but not in a formal dining room. The staff did not seem to be well versed in the menu other than to say, "it's good!" and drinks were forgotten, every waiter seemed to be in a panic or rush and the overall atmosphere was like that of a B- grade restaurant at any number of chain hotels. Our meals could have easily been served at sub-standard Marriott. All steaks, fish and pheasant dishes were overcooked, sides were mediocre (but bread tray was great) and the lack of enthusiasm from the wait staff about anything at all on the menu turned out to be a bad omen. My family used to love going to Fearing's and it was always a treat but never again. I had not visited in years and was excited to share a fine dining experience with out of town guests, but the level of quality, service and basic pride is missing in action. Save your money and discover Mister Charles, Sister or any number of brilliant, local restaurants that get it and want to please. This is just another hotel restaurant.

Should have been a special Sunday brunch but not enough servers/staff, very cold due to heat not working well, restroom location and set up not great. The lobster salad was very disappointing for the quantity of ingredients and value charged. My enchilada was excellent. Pancakes were ok. The server really tried but just too many people to serve.

Highly overrated. The 2121 Cobb Salad with Chicken Fried Lobster was bland. The lobster was dry and needed a dipping sauce. I asked the waitress for remoulade sauce and she returned and said the chef didn’t know what it was. Not that they didn’t have it. Seriously? My husband had The Rattlesnake Burger with “Dean’s Secret Sauce” - a real secret because the soggy pretzel bun was swimming in something that wasn’t discernible or tasty. The wait staff was nice but nothing remarkable. Overall a very disappointing and surprising experience for The Ritz and Dean Fearing. We won’t be returning. Too many other really outstanding places to dine in Dallas.

Went here for what we thought would be a nice Sunday breakfast. The individual at the hostess stand walked away when he saw us approaching and it took another 5 minutes for anyone else to acknowledge us. We had a reservation, but still had to wait another 10 minutes for our table to be ready, despite it being 10 in the morning and not full. Very pricey. $20 for a waffle with no sides! I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. It was served with the wrong hollandaise sauce. I pointed this out to the server and she brought me the correct sauce 20 minutes later when I was almost done with my meal. The food was served Luke warm, clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. Pastries tasted like frozen, and heated up. Wrong texture, no taste.
I will not go back…I live in Dallas. I would recommend people staying at the hotel wander out a few blocks and you will find much better food and service at a much better price. Valet parking is $15…even if you are there for a meal.

We visited on a Monday night and the restaurant wasn’t that busy, which was great because we could get more attention from the staff. From being aware of food allergies, to excellent service the staff was great. The food and drink was even better - the appetizers and then the entrees - Buffalo and Wagyu - wow! A great meal and we will be back the next time we are in Dallas.

Food was OK but not anywhere near top restaurants in Dallas. The mansion, town hearth, and others blow this place away. The fried lobster tail was good (but what isn’t good fried), tortilla soup was solid, and the steak was dry (like something you’d expect at a wedding reception). Not to mention we were placed in a side dining area where the atmosphere was TERRIBLE and we were served by kitchen staff that described the fried lobster tail as “like a chicken finger but a little better.” There are far better places to spend your money for food and atmosphere. Honestly, it was an embarrassing performance for a $600 meal. You really should go elsewhere.

We had a very disappointing dinner for 3 at Fearing's. All of the portions were miniscule, but that was probably a good thing. For the table they served some golf ball sized lumps of baked dough accompanied by a single pat of butter to be shared by the three of us. The foie gras appetizer featured a small piece of soggy goose liver bathed in something sweet and surrounded by what appeared to be shredded cabbage with no sauce. The Nova Scotia halibut was a tiny piece of white fish accompanied by strips of fried okra. I could detect no seasoning or any sauce of any type. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night.

Fearing’s is in the Ritz Carlton. I had dinner and breakfast from Fearing’s, and both were excellent. Prices are a bit high, although not unusually so for a restaurant in a high end hotel, but the quality of the food and the service(room service in my case) made this an excellent option.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening - it's just not good anymore. I was so looking forward to an incredible dinner and it was disappointing at best. For $60+, I really expected to taste the kind of bite of food that makes you go 'mmmm' and close your eyes at the deliciousness. I ordered the filet and chicken fried lobster with mashed potatoes and spinach enchilada. The filet was overdone, the lobster tail just tasted like the fried crust, the mashed potatoes didn't have much flavor and were gummy and the spinach enchilada was very underwhelming. Not sure what happened here, but it seems that over time some great restaurants just get so-so. And the Tito's and soda I ordered? Probably the tastiest thing on the table, until I realized it had a dead gnat in it. Blah.

The ambiance and service was great, margarita cocktails were fantastic. The bread was extraordinary. Amuse bouche was delightful. We tried southwest sampler for a starter, and it was great, really enjoyed it. For main course we tried buffalo and antelope, both were unfortunately underwhelming. Desert was pecan pie empanadas, which was their specialty, and unfortunately it had bad oil smell, granted it was late in the evening, but in this kind of establishment, it should not matter.

Thank you for taking the time to share a review! We're delighted to hear that the cocktails, service and ambiance impressed. We are dissapointed however, to hear that not all of the food items were to your liking. You're right; this is not the typical calibar at Fearing's as we strive for exceptional dishes. If there's anything we can do to make this right, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. But we hope we have the chance to deliver the best of the Southwest for you sometime soon.
Best,

We enjoyed a New Year’s Eve lunch at Fearing’s. We were seated immediately. The warm breads with smoked butter were delicious. My husband ordered salmon and I had the red snapper. Both entrees were perfect and served with tasty sides. For dessert we had the pumpkin Creme brûlée that was both beautiful and delicious. The overall experience was perfect thanks to all staff, food and atmosphere. I was disappointed when I learned my glass of iced tea cost $6. My husband’s $16 glass of wine was worth it.

Service is great and food is good but for the price, I don’t think it is worth frequenting this restaurant. $30+ for a a breakfast plate of eggs, bread, and protein is a bit much. You are definitely paying for the name and the location when dining here
