We moved to Pakenham almost 12 months ago and have found it hard having not many nice restaurants around to eat in or even take away. Though so glad we came home from work one night and discovered a menu from Dapur Kennedy in our...mail box and decided to give them a try.
We have had take away from Dapur Kennedy and also ate in with the family here and both times were very happy. While it can be on the expensive side it is well worth it. The owner Jason Kennedy is very friendly and welcoming and can help you select a dish if you are having trouble deciding. The cocktails are great, the beers are cold and the food is devine.
I highly recommend the suckling pig spring rolls, satay sticks, the suckling pig nasi goreng and babi kecap... there is no such thing as too much pork. Portion sizes are very reasonable and the quality of food is high so you will not feel disappointed.
I really recommend trying Dapur Kennedy and if possible dine in as the take away is yum but it never tastes the same after being packaged up and driven home.More
this venue is greatly over priced and the owner is a little over bearing! Yes its authentic but is it really?? Prices are too high for the value of food. Credit given for trying but I'm not sure I'm sold on the food!
Ordered a side of vegetables take-away and was charged $15.50 upon pick-up despite the menu on the website stating $9.50. Staff said 'there's a new menu now' but nowhere to be seen on the website - if one is accepting take-away, charging 60% more than...the menu on the website seems very inappropriate. The serving size was quite small for the cost.More
We were so impressed with this tiny restaurant, we had a booking of 8 and the waitress was absolutely amazing, she didnt write down the orders, and oh boy we were indecisive and she remembered exactly what we ordered, including our drinks.
Food is really...high quality and authentic tastes, I / we had everything from the suckling pig also known as Babi guling platter for 2, suckling pig Nasi Goreng, tom yum soup, plus a range of entrees.
We had the most most memorable experience and will definitely be back.
The place may be small, but it makes up for its size in absolutely amazing food and excellent staff.
prices are very reasonable and its licensed plus byo :)More
Booked for 20 of us so staff were under the pump. Nothing was a problem for them, they were friendly, efficient and helpful and Jason was very accommodating. The food was excellent and full of flavor. We all agreed we would go back again.
Thanks...for a great nightMore
Came with friends and upon arrived treated in great friendly manner, We ordered couple entrees which wernt too bad
Then we had a few dishes to share menu bit all over the shop not one style but the food was tasty and plenty of
We were greeted with a big smile by Jason the owner and he made a point about being authentic asian, with no lemon chicken or similar offerings available. The suckling pig was pushed as the most popular, so we agreed to having the platter for...two. We also ordered some green tea. Everywhere we have travelled in Asia, tea comes out in a pot with small cups, but here we got two large cups each with a tea bag. Maybe something they can work on. Out comes the platter. I looked for the tasty crackling, but could only see this plastic looking stuff. Not the lovely pork crackling that you would expect. It had no taste at all. The meat was also tasteless and dry. It also had a bit of a smell. That is why a female pig is always better tasting and smelling than a male pig. The platter was served with steamed rice, a small bit of salad and three very small dipping sauces, that ran out after dipping two of the skewers in them. There was also some soup that wasnt bad. We had some entrees of vegetable spring rolls and chicken wings, and these were ok, and pretty hard to muck up. Looks like we have to travel back to Indo for real authentic back street food.More
We stumbled upon Dapur Kennedy by accident and it was a good accident.
The owner Jason is very friendly and chatty. He gives a good run down on the menu and the specials.
We decided to go for the Babi Guling for two. It was...definitely a good decision with a decent serving of the suckling pig, pork crackling, minced pork satay sticks, soup, rice, chicken sticks and sauces.
The food reminded me of the meals I had in Indonesia, so in my opinion a good representation of Indonesian cuisine.
The only negative would be the suckling pig was a bit too oily for my liking.
Overall delightful experience and would recommend this place for a meal.More
