Get there early if you want to try the muffins or cake- they were sold out by 11 am on a Wednesday when we visited. It sassy coffee but they had a good frozen lemonade( it comes in a small cup so I wish we had ordered 2). I also tried the Chai iced tea, it reminded me of cinnamon. Very nice and polite man made our drinks. They have a small display of artwork and handmade scarfs and shirts died with indigo ( it grows locally and dyes the cloth blue)

We visited for a cup of coffee and to use a public restroom. The coffee was great and we also ordered a triple-chocolate cupcake to share. It was very good. The staff were very friendly. We ordered our food through a window and found a place to sit down under cover to drink our coffee.
No restroom facilities at this location, due to the adjacent former school house being under repair and closed. Staff kindly directed us to the community park, to use the restroom which was a distance away and not visible from the road.

OK,m it's the only coffee shop on Daufuskie, but it offers a good selection of coffee drinks and frozen lemonade flavors, and, if you are lucky enough to be there when the baked goods come out of the oven, a selection of cookies or muffins or biscuits. No indoor seating at the moment but there is some outside seating available. Some long lines at times and it may move slowly. This is not Starbucks and Brian and Pam, the owners, will take the time to get to know you if you allow, so like most things Daufuskie, don't be in a hurry and enjoy the pace here. It's good coffee and conversation, and a pleasant break from riding around in your cart. (Note - the coffee window is around the left back of the building shown in the picture.)

To be honest, I didn't expect much from a coffee shop on Daufuskie. I was just overjoyed that they had one! We visited while taking a day tour of the island. My husband and I are really particular about our coffee, and we both agreed this was fantastic. The Americano was perfection, and the iced mocha tasted like chocolate as opposed to a generic chocolate-flavored sweet. Plus, the gentleman that served us was so friendly and gracious.
Don't miss the desserts! I'm picky about those too, and the sugar cookie I got was one of the best I've ever had. It seems like everything there is made with love!

Girls trip to Daufuski Island…stopped for a delicious iced coffee latte while taking a gold cart tour of the island. We had lovely conversation with one of the owners. Definitely recommend adding this stop to your tour of the island.

We visited here early at opening. There were several others in line but the place has great Covid precautions in place to keep everyone safe. The coffee was great. The frozen lemonade was yummy as were the chocolate chip coffee. Service was wonderful. Highly recommend if you’re on Daufuskie!

My third tour trip to Daufuskie Island and my third time at School Grounds Coffee for best cup of joe on the island. Pam and Brian are very gracious and love to share stories of living on the island. Photos line the wall of the historic site of times gone by, including author Pat Conroy who wrote a novel based on his time as a teacher in the buidling. The coffee and sweets are delicious and always good Southern hospitality!

Absolutely refreshing frozen lemonade on a hot day on Daufuskie! My son loved the cold chocolate. I also loved they are plastic free. Note for people who have been in the past: it is now strictly outdoor seating, and no facilities. The public restroom is 4 minutes away on golf cart.

What a wonderful find! Great iced latte and frozen lemonade! And the lemonade cookies were awesome! Don't miss the history, charm, great service and food at this hidden gem! Enjoy the Indigo shop in the front too! Very educational!

Great coffee and friendly, helpful people. What could be better? Well, the coffee shop is packed with historic books, photos, and other island memorabilia. I loved our little visit and look to return, if we're ever back on the island.

The staff is friendly and the coffee is good. Everyday they bake a new item. We had biscuits, cookies and brownies. All delicious!
