From a helluvah breakfast menu of bennies and waffles, kind service, and feels-like-home diner environment, JP Spoonem's has it all. Always worth the wait, if there is one, so come early on the weekends.

I can’t say enough about this place! The food is excellent as well as the service! Keep up the good work !!
This is a neighborhood standby for a reason, great service along with great food, seasonal spins on classic recipes combine for a nice place to share breakfast or lunch with friends.
On a visit last November I stopped in with my daughter and ordered the waffles with bananas. I told the server that I loved waffles with bananas AND pecans. She quickly ran to find out if they had any and made sure there were a...lot on my waffles for just a small upcharge. They were delicious! The hand carved was flavorful and tender with no fat. Just this past Monday, I was visiting in Providence again and decided to have breakfast here. My husband loved the corned beef hash. My son-in-law and I opted for the Big Daddy breakfast - eggs were perfect, the potatoes had just the right amount of crispness, the ham was as good as I remembered and the pancakes were so good. I wish I remembered the server's name - I had the same gal both times - she was conscientious and friendly. If you're in the area, this is a great place for breakfast. We'll be back! Always prefer a local spot to the chain restaurants.More
A family member has raved about this place for a while nearby we stopped in for breakfast. The menu has many unique choices. They also have daily specials. Both of us enjoyed our breakfast. We had gotten a side of johnny cakes and I want...to say they were probably the best I have ever had. Not dry, crispy edges. I look forward to going back.More
Came here with a date for Breakfast. We got in fine but this is a popular spot so there was a line following us. The service was good and the food was good. It was overall a good experience, I thought nothing really brought me...to say it was a unique experience but it was good. It really feels like a TV sitcom could be filmed there.More
Fresh cooked food, very friendly staff, large menu with a large assortment of hashes and Benedict’s, but also all of the usual. The food is plentiful, the home fries are some of the best around, cash only, beware... but so worth it!
Wow, there definitely seems to be a trend towards having a variety of eggs Benedict in Rhode Island. They have a great selection, I tried the Greek Benny and it was really tasty. Service was great too
Delicious, wide variety, inexpensive and practical breakfast! A great place to meet friends for breakfast any morning of the week.
We were directed here by a local woman who was at nearby Roger Williams Park. It is a small local diner that serves breakfast and lunch. However, when we ordered from the lunch menu, our server informed us that they weren't serving lunch. It was early...afternoon? So my husband and I ordered breakfast. There are many options. It has award winning hash so my husband ordered that. He was not disappointed. I ordered smoked salmon benedict. Tasty, but not at all what I am used to. It was not served on an English muffin. The poached eggs and smoked salmon were served on the plate with a side of white toast. Is this a Rhode Island thing? The hash browns were delicious. Service was quick. Clearly it is a local hang out. It was fun listening to customers chat, servers adding their two cents worth. I definitely would go back.More
I was served pancakes that had a terrible after taste (metallic/ammonia like). When I complained, the attitude of the manager was that it was probably in my head and, I assumed, wanted me the finish the pancakes. I was also given a card to return for..."free pancakes" in my next visit. Really! Do I want to subject myself to this kind of treatment? Terrible pancakes and terrible customer service. At least the waitress was polite and apologeticMore
Took quite a while for menus to be brought over. Server really wasn't interested in us. When food was served, toasted bagel was burned, and came with butter. Didn't ask for butter, but waitress "oh, you didn't say dry", apparently, my bad. My co-diner's potatoes...were cold, and the over easy eggs were VERY runny in the whites. Coffee refills had to be requested. Never came by to check on us. Guess we weren't her favorites. LOTS of other breakfast places in Cranston, but they have a built in client base and will not miss us at all!!More
Heard good things about J P Spoonem's and decided to give it a try. The menu had a bunch of creative variations of traditional eggs benedict. There was something for everyone from savory to sweet. The service was super friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy....Looking forward to returning and working my way through the menu!More
We discovered J P Spoonem's on the recommendation of a friend. I was there for Sunday brunch and had 20 min. wait as there is limited seating. I returned on Tuesday morning and was quickly seated. The menu is great with many choices. The prices...are somewhat higher than some breakfast-lunch spots but the portions are very generous. The corned beef hash is exceptional (mostly corned beef). There are several gluten free items including the Johnny Cakes (made with yellow corn meal).More
Jp spoonems has a very good breakfast. They give you big portions so you won't leave hungry.. the place is dated and small
