While vacationing at nearby Hershey Park, we went out for a nice dinner, and were able to reserve a table here with not much notice. They were OK with our vacation attire (we hadn’t planned on going to a fancy restaurant when we packed) and...the employees were nothing but gracious. Our waitress was especially wonderful to our 10 year-old daughter and made her feel like a very special guest. We had two ribeye steaks and the monkfish. All were cooked perfectly. The mushroom and speck cream preparation for the steaks was out of this world, but if you don’t like mushrooms the 1700 preparation is very good as well. The sides were great; even my daughter liked the brussel sprouts, which made me wonder if we had slipped into an alternate reality. Dessert was wonderful, of course, though the kids should stick to the brownie or cheesecake. The tarte is more of an adult style dessert, with the mousse it is topped with tasting like it has some alcohol or maybe a cognac extract in it. Very good, but probably not for many kids. It’s really more of an adult restaurant, however, so that is not a knock on the desserts, just a warning if you’re taking your children. We have decided that any time we go back to Hershey, it will include a dinner at the 1700 Steakhouse.More

Such an amazing restaurant!! During these difficult times, 1700 Degrees definitely rises above it! Friendly staff, amazing food, and an extensive wine lose make this restaurant worth every penny and then some.

1700 is a white linen tablecloth, fine dining steakhouse located in the Hilton hotel, downtown Harrisburg. The food is exceptional, hot plates, & seared steaks at 1700° hence the name... The service is impeccable. Amanda always has a smile on her face, immense knowledge of...the menu and wine. She really goes above and beyond for her guests. We care for a 101-year-old world war II veteran and she certainly made every visit so special. We also had the pleasure of dining with Carrie and Mark, each one leaving a wonderful impression on us. What an incredible team led by incredible management. They feature a fantastic wine list, a variety of menu options. Try the oysters on the half shell :). We happen to be staying at the Hilton (also highly recommended) so we have had the opportunity to dine here several times. Consistency, exceptional flavor, service and atmosphere was always paramount to the entire team. Dave and Mitchell are amazing bartender's (try a nice martini) If you're visiting the city make sure not to miss it. If you're a local and want to try something new make sure you check out 1700°- it's definitely not a typical hotel restaurant, it is definitely a destination restaurant.More

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day there last night. Service was good, food was excellent and the surroundings were delightful. We were expecting something special for that occasion but nothing other than a couple chocolate covered strawberries. Also, they use way too much salt...in their cooking and the restaurant was a little chilly. Probably would still go back.More

This was my first time to this restaurant located inside the Hilton hotel property. I called ahead to find out about parking and was told it was best to park in the Walnut Street garage then get parking validated when the bill came. It was...not a short distance and involved elevators and staircases. When I arrived at the restaurant area you immediately notice it is very upscale and inviting but not clearly delineated between the causal restaurant and the steakhouse. There is a bar on the right an one on the left that is separated by the liquor rack however they share a very large stone top and you can see each side because the liquor rack does not go all the way down to the counter top. I was told there were no tables available in the steakhouse and was offered a table in the he Ad Lib Craft Kitchen section. I asked if the same steaks were available on that menu and was told no, just one is available. I pushed back, then ad-libbed that I did not drive here all the way from NJ and be told I cannot have a 1700-degree steak. I was then guided to the bar (seats 6-8) on the right side and given a menu for both restaurants. Note the 1700-degree steakhouse menu is digital on an iPad type device. I did not read the Ad Lib menu ad quickly went to the steakhouse menu. My order was two colossal shrimp ($8/each), the wedge salad ($9 - baby Iceberg, Neuskies smoked bacon, Point Reyes, 6-minute egg, tomato and red onion), certified Angus beef filet mignon ($39) and a side of wild mushrooms and leeks ($8). What I Liked: - The shrimp were cold, firm and flavorful - The wedge salad flavor was outstanding - They offered me a steak knife selection! I have never experienced that before which was a great touch, well played! The norm is you get what you get. As I say, a steak always tastes better when you have a sharp knife to cut it. - The 8-ounce filet was cooked to perfection, medium rare as requested. It was very tender, like “budda”. - The house Worcestershire sauce was excellent. It was thicker than the normal bottled sauce with great flavor. It worked well with the filet and enhanced the mushrooms. What I Did Not Like: - I was not able to sit in the main dining room because I was told it was “full”. I found out later they were short-staffed, so the problem became mine instead of theirs. - I still do not know if the bar I sat at was on the Ad Lib side, the steakhouse side or just in a general bar area. I asked and did not get s straight answer. - At $8 a shrimp, they were not a value, rather consider them a luxury item - The shrimp were two different sizes. I was expecting twins, not a big brother and little brother, lol! Where was the discount for a 25% smaller shrimp? - They should have provided a lemon wedge with the shrimp and more cocktail sauce. A customer should never be placed in a position to start thinking about how to ration cocktail sauce instead of enjoying the shrimp. - The amount of product on the wedge salad plate was paltry. The reference to baby iceberg appeared to be more about size than anything else and was deceptive. - The plating of the filet mignon. The filet mignon arrived as the only item on a very large, white plate. This was disrespectful to the beef, so I quickly spooned the mushrooms all around the filet and gave it the presentation it deserved ... moooo! - The professionalism of the staff was not up to par with the upscale image they created My Prime Minister of Beef rating is 8.3/10 Moo’s landing this place at the #6 spot of the 36 places I have had beef at in the Carlisle area since February 2019. My overall rating placed this restaurant at #5 of the 161 restaurants I have eaten at in the Carlisle area since February 2019. I came here to celebrate a nine-year anniversary for a achieving a personal milestone and was glad I did.More

I just cannot figure out why this steak house is rated so highly. Yes, the waitress was very friendly (she had 13 of us to serve all by herself), and the ambiance was nice, but the food was NOT steakhouse quality. I’m from Pittsburgh and...have been to 2 amazing steak houses there - after reading 1700’s reviews, I expected this meal to at least be on par. It wasn’t even close. The steak came out overcooked, had little flavor, and the char was poor. It came just on a plate - no nothing. Sure, I understand the sides are served separately, family style, but I get a big plate with an overcooked steak. The filet was eh, the potatoes (whipped) were eh. I will say the creamed spinach was good, and someone had lobster Mac and cheese which they enjoyed. I spent $180 for 2 people for sub-par, mediocre food at best. Next time I’m in Harrisburg, this ones gets scratched off my list.More

We chose 1700 degree for an anniversary dinner and it didn't disappoint. Being in the Hilton it does have a bit of that hotel restaurant feel but the front is somewhat more secluded and intimate. I got the grass fed veal porterhouse and my wife...got the small filet and we shared a butter poached lobster tail and it was all amazing. The wait staff was excellent, drinks were great, not much more you could ask for. It will not be cheap, I think our meal was about 185. Would definitely recommend.More

Hubby and I were staying at the hotel and after a long day, decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. We weren’t disappointed. We split the Foie Grass Terrine as a starter. It was delicious. Definitely as good as you get in France. For main,...hubby had the prime 16oz Ribeye with whipped potato and green beens. Nothing left on his plate! I had the Short Rib Tomahawk which was cooked perfectly. The wine list was extensive and a little pricey but we’ve come to expect that in hotel restaurants where there’s a lot of “corporate” guests. We would definitely eat here again.More
