Could upgrade the furnishings a bit but I think they want the old time cafe feel. The food is great and they give you a lot of it. I had the waffles with peaches and the peaches were fresh- had hoped they still had strawberries...but they didn't, so glad they didn't! It was the first time I had fresh, ripe peaches in ages and they were so good on the light, fluffy waffles with whipped cream and syrup. Wonderful. My husband had the biscuits and gravy with bacon, the bacon was amazing. The gravy was a bit spicy but otherwise great.More

We usually have breakfast here, but yesterday had lunch. The burgers were huge and delicious, with ample imaginative toppings. Staff always friendly and attentive. We've probably eaten here 20 times and it's always a great meal.

We took the recommendation of my sister who lives in Salem to go to breakfast at Cafe 22. Boy oh boy, was she right! We ate there twice in 6 days. I’m southern and leery about biscuits and gravy. Theirs was very good. My husband...had the Belgian-style waffle with delicious RIPE strawberries and copious whipped cream. They also provided very good sugar free syrup. This was a wonderfully light, tasty waffle, and the berries were dead ripe, slightly sweet, and fabulous! It was so good that hubby got it again the second time, and I followed suit. I believe I have never, in all my travels all over the USA and in several European countries, had a better breakfast. The coffee is very good, served in big, easy to handle cups. Service was extra good, the restaurant was clean, and the food was great. There are about 6-7 tables inside and twice as many outside on a covered terrace. If you’re in the area and don’t eat there, you’re missing out on a real treat! Go! It is sooooo worth it!More

The man who seated us seemed grumpy, and when we asked for outdoor seating in the shade, he almost did not let us have it. The omelets were good, and the food plentiful. The meat in the beef hash tasted old and overcooked. The waitress/server...was pleasant and attentive.More

Went for lunch after going to the coast. Been driving by for years so decided to stop. My friend who got a burger said it was lacking seasoning and the same with the fries, they didn’t put any salt. My rueben was good but the...onion rings were lacking seasoning in the batter too. Cute place the outside seating looked better then the inside.More

Cafe 22 is well worth a stop for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a snack ! The menu is varied, and the wait staff will help meet all special dietary needs. Everything on the menu is delicous; my family loves the burgers, salads, tater tots,...and sweet potato fries. Don't miss the fresh fruit sundaes, milkshakes, and other treats at the Fruit Stand while they're available ! It's all fresh and local fruits and vegetables - just outstanding !! You can purchase the freshly made ice cream to take home and the flavors are creative and delicous. I give the ice cream to friends as a gift !More

Pros: 1. Many of the dishes are tasty and mouth-watering. Cons: 1. Everything is over-priced. 2. Most of the wait staff is courteous and friendly, except that one, whom I call Brunhilde. A smile would crack her face. She’s rude with an air of superiority....It appears that it’s an inconvenience for her to wait on you, curt and never engages in any type of small talk; sort of a “state your business and leave” attitude...LOLMore

We drove by this cute little place and were intrigued with the decor. We looked up the reviews and saw a lot of decent reviews for burgers and bbq, so we were excited to give it a try. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and...attentive and the special sounded tasty, so we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, it went downhill once the food arrived. Although everything was hot, we thought the portions were quite small for the price. I had chosen the daily special which was 6 shrimp and potato salad. While the shrimp was nicely battered, the small scoop of "home made" potato salad was pretty nondescript and tasted like store bought. For $10 there just wasn't much food. My husband ordered the fish and clams plate with fries. The clams had been described as hand shucked, so we were expecting larger strips. This was a small pile of tiny bits and pieces that looked like they'd been dumped right out of a Gorton's box. The fish also looked to be from a box . Two small wedges that were very greasy. I'm not sure if we just overlooked it or maybe it's only served at dinner time, but neither of us saw the BBQ items that others liked on the menu. We also walked through their fruit/veggie store next door and quickly exited when we saw the crazy expensive prices. Our first impression was good and we really wanted to like this place, but sadly the food did not measure up and we would not return.More

Went with my family for Sunday breakfast...there were open tables but for some reason they weren’t seating the line of waiting groups to have breakfast. By the time we were up for the next open table. The man seating (I assume the manager/owner) patrons went...to the couple BEHIND us where some whispering took place and the couple behind us were seated first. When we asked why we weren’t seated first he said...”Uh Uh they have a service animal.” 1. They had no service animal. 2. Does this mean if you have an invisible service animal you supersede the line and get seated immediately? 3. Signs posted everywhere about service animals that this was against Oregon health codes. Clearly he knew the couple and gave them preferential treatment and then lied about it. I will not be going back as clearly there is a special membership card in order to get decent service. Plus, there are better places to get breakfast.More

We eat out a fair amount and I am not a picky eater but sometimes you find a place that goes way over the top and exceeds your expectations. This place did just that. I was referred by a friend so I expected it to...be good. The service was amazing, the food off the charts good and plenty of it, pricing was fair, and not only was it good but it looked good too. We have been back twice since and they have been consistently good every time.More

We decided to have breakfast at this restaurant a few days ago, and intend on coming back. The biscuits were fabulous and it looks as if the jam is homemade. It was very busy and I can see why. We felt our breakfast was better...than Annettes's (sorry!) We saw a lot of patrons sharing meals they seemed large! Pleasant waitstaff. My step son, who used to work nearby says the milkshakes are great!More
