Good Sunday lunch for meat eaters and vegetarian. Set up with covered areas in garden but managed to get seated inside in a private room. Staff were really friendly. Pretty garden. Will definitely return.

On the hottest day of the year, Landlord Phil had thoughtfully laid up tables in the garden for our group.. it was the ideal location, and will only get better once the burgeoning rose buds burst very soon. We were well received, and looked after...throughout. Thanks to all concerned. The food was very good, too - with an amazing cheese board to finish! We will be back.More

Went with my Dad and brother and can’t fault it! The service was very friendly and welcoming, catering well for some gluten free requests. The food was excellent, dad was amazed at the starter size of whitebait! The main courses were ample, with great quality...steak and chips to die for!More

A lovely afternoon spent having lunch at The Stag in the garden. Thankfully the sun was out and so were we for our first pint and a traditional pub lunch. Starter was deep fried brie with cranberry followed by roast pork and apple sauce, just...enough room for homemade Black Forest profiteroles with yummy ice cream. Excellent !More

It was so nice to find this lovely country pub for lunch recently. It makes a nice change to visit a real pub instead of a gastropub. This place has a real country pub atmosphere, when we’re leaving there were a couple of riders sitting...outside with their horses! The food was good and the staff were lovely and friendly.More

What a lovely friendly pub! We arranged to meet some friends for a Friday night meal and the service and food was great. Can thoroughly recommend. House red was very good too!

Half our party were very late as the babies were still sleeping. The staff kept our tables for a whole hour and accommodated a late order when they arrived. The food was excellent too. All in all a very positive experience.

Had a very nice midweek lunch at this country pub with two family friends. We were taking advantage of the "eat out to help out" government scheme but even so there was a good choice of food and nice selection of real ales. The Covid...restrictions in force at the time were strictly adhered to. The food was very good with decent portions so much so that only one of us had room for a pudding! The staff were very helpful and friendly and overall it was a very enjoyable lunch in very relaxed surroundings. The Stag is nice rural Sussex pub owned by Hall and Woodhouse and seems to be well run and popular. I would certainly recommend it and we shall certainly visit it again.More

We stopped here on our drive back from Lewes to Bournemouth and found the pub to be absolutely beautiful with a fantastic beer garden around the back. The food was great and the portions were very generous. There were a couple of specials away from...the main menu and plenty of options for GF. The staff were very friendly and the Covid check in was really easy. Would definitely recommendMore
